A dark orange color beer with a khaki one finger head, even when poured aggressively down the center of the glass.
The nose is pretty weak. Not much complexity to it but what little aroma there is is of orange and sweet caramel malt.
Not much going on taste wise either. It's not that the taste is bad, but it's not very exciting, I suppose for a 4.3% it's acceptable.
Kinda boring presentation of the flavors.
There's a mild but authentic grassy hop backbone. A little tropical orange. A touch of caramel flavor from the malt here and there. Very tame and with little complexity. A little watery, but it's a session ale so I'm not going to hold that against it.
Feel: Medium Body, low carbonation. Slightly dry.
Overall: You might really enjoy this if this is your first ever IPA, but if you're a hop head there's not much reason to come back to this or even try it initially. Smuttynose is an amazing brewery but this offering is underwhelming. There are much better session beers in the ballpark of 5%abv with much more satisfying tastes.

Purchased a bottle in a mix 6 from a suburban Liquor Barn. This lemony beer failed my IPA flavor test, unfortunately. I have often liked Smuttynose beers, but not this one.
