Poured from bottle into pint glass

A: Hazy golden color with a thin head

S: Moderate hop presence, hints of citrus and noticeable amounts of spice

T: Well balanced, sweet at first, finishes dry with a little spice.

M: Light with good carbonation.

D: Easy to drink. As the bottle says "session ale brewed with spice", which is a great description. Definitely a sessionable beer.

Poured into a tulip glass a clouded lighter golden with a thinner white head that left no lace.Big in the yeast department in the aromas, phenolic and spicy with a bit of tropical fruit.A bit sharp at first in the mouth but it settles down after a bit, phenolic clove-like flavors dominate along with some light ginger and toasted cereal grain in the finish. Not a bad beer but not really anything I would ever search out again and buy.

Brass-colored with vibrant bubbles. Aromas of grain, sea air and, in the background, fruit. Light bodied with assertive fizz.

A pilsner-like malty snap kicks things off flavorwise, becoming more cereally on the midpalate. At the end, subtle spices swirl around a slight bitterness.

If your beer tastes tend towards tyranno-ales, this is a "lite" option to have on hand. Curiously for this style, I didn't enjoy it much. I need man beer!!

A 12oz bottle with Best By Sep09 on the label. Hazy orange color, tiny white head. Pleasant enough aroma, sweet malt, spice, fruit. The aroma doesn't come through as well in the taste. A little fruit, some clove, rather peppery. A dry finish, but also a harsh bitterness to the mouthfeel. An OK beer, but I was expecting more.

Pours golden very transparent, no cloudyness and head forms white and thick but quickly dissipates.

The aroma is full of pale malts, slight biscuit malts with a hint of earthyness. not a hint of any yeast.

The taste is well not what i expected. This is a not for me kind of beer. It almost tastes like a regular pale, Shoals perhaps with a Belgium yeast. That said the taste starts with a mouth full of carbonation, the base malt comes through but perhaps munic and biscuit malts create a slight buttery middle taste. The finish is dry with a grain aftertaste on the tongue.

Overall not my kind of beer an average pale all around for me

Bottle pours a cloudy golden body with a small ivory head. Fair retention and minor sheet lacing. Aroma is nice. Spicy coriander and white pepper, lemon zest, ripe pear esters, yeast, and floral hops. Light medium body is moderately carbonated. Taste has a grainy and husky malt base that has only a hint of sweetness. Floral hop bitterness, chalky yeast, and a hint of lemon zest. Don't pick up any spices except for a hint of white pepper. Dry finish. Not a bad drinker but not very exciting.

12 ouncer w/ best before dating etched onto the side of the label. Pours quite cloudy apricot amber, minor head and non exciting lacing left on the glass. I get snifs of orange, clove, yeast and coriander. These flavors carry through into the flavor profile, with heaps of more clove, tangarine, corinader, and some spicy bubble gum hints. Pretty good, but nothing amazing, Belgian lovers will get everyday/sessioner enjoyment form this new one from Smutty

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: Cloudy yellow in color with a thin white head and no lacing.

Smell: Smells similar to a hefenweizen, wheat, hops, banana maybe.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Medium to light bodied, with a lot of carbonation that you can feel. Taste is wheat, hops and citrus.

Overall: Decent beer, nothing really special about it. It was refreshing.

12oz bottle poured into a long trail vermont pint.

Pours a pale hazy heat color with essentially no head at all, light white lacing but not much. Nose is super light, almost nonexistent. Slightly yeasty and fruity.

Taste is sharp and spicy, it's mainly yeasty it's a pretty solid for what it is, very drinkable but it's ok.

Clear golden color with a pure white head. Pretty good retention. Looks nice.

Some floral notes and a little fruity.

The taste is mild. A bit soapy, and hop presence is minimal. Aftertaste has a hint of spices and yeast.

Light bodied and medium-low carbonation. Slightly chewy.

First time I've been disappointed by a Smuttynose product, I'm sorry to say. The soapyness killed it for me.

L: Pours slightly hazy pale gold under a 1” white foam collar that slowly recedes. S: Light fruit and citrus, palte malt. T: Citrus, slightly sweet start with a dry finish, some light biscuit. F: Medium to medium light body, soft palate. O: This is brewed with spice but there is not a lot of spice character in this beer. Very drinkable.

12oz bottle at fridge temp poured into a bulb style glass. best before november 2010, from a variety 12 pack that was packed in may of 2010.

a vigoursous pour results a hazy golden color with a pure white 2 fingers of head that faded to a thin layer. just a little lace and no sediment visible, a touch while in the bottle however. doesnt have the big fluffy head i come to expect in a belgian pale, but the color is spot on.

not a huge aroma. just a little belgian yeast qualities, bubblegum, flouride, some lemony citrus, a touch of spice and some pilsner like grains. a touch of skunk too.

the taste pleases more than the aroma, but not by much. its a really good tasting beer, but not so much for a belgian pale ale. first your hit with a sharp lemon citrus spiciness and finishs with the pilsner, macro like malts. a slight belgian yeast throughout as well as a little skunkiness. slight herbal, spicy bitterness toward the finish.

has a very bright mouthfeel, carbonation feels good, a light body. the mouthfeel is pretty close for the style.

i like the drinkability very much, great for those summer days(drank some while camping at kueka lake). i love the taste of this as well, but to me, its not much of a belgian pale, so style has to be taken into consideration when reviewing. other than that, its a great addition to the variety 12, i recommend it.
