Cloudy pear-flesh color body. Little head. Minimal lacing.

Nose - savongion blanc, funk. Strawberry, pear. Definitely very fruity. Light barnyard.

Taste - tart. light strawberry. Wine like astringency. Lemon. Light funk but just enough to keep it very interesting. Dry, clean finish. Puckering. Not too sweet. Very enjoyable. I love the flavor here. Just enough sweet and tart. keeps it very complex but light at the same time.

Spritsy mouthfeel. Seltzer like.

Different, unique, complex. Excellent beer. I could drink a lot of this.

@ Sam's

Foggy pale straw with a little, creamy white head on top. Fresh strawberry aroma over some yellow cake, subtle dough, and general tartness. Lots of strawberries and berries in the flavor too. A clean sour quality, hints of wheat, and light body with a dry finish make an extremely refreshing beverage. Nothing terribly complex, but lots of flavor for such a light beer and never watery. This really hit the spot after a massive, meaty dinner. Glad I got to try it.

On-tap 11/13/09 at Track 84, in Warwick, RI, served in a tulip glass.

A: The beer is a light gold color, with a thin white head that fades quickly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is of tart strawberries and light malts, along with a little bit of wheat.

T: The taste is very sour with flavors of strawberries and citrus. There's a touch of wheat in the background and very little hops bitterness. The malt character is very thin as you would expect from a beer in this style. The after-taste is sour.

M: Crisp and a little smooth, light body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.

D: Tasty, goes down easily, not filling at all, very mild kick, good representation of style, this is a nice mild and sour beer to drink for a while if you're looking for one outside of the Belgian styles.

On tap tonight at the River Road Tavern Tap Takeover.
Came to my stool a fairly cloudy medium straw color with a tint of pink and without much head at all. The aroma is tart and lactic with a bit of strawberry sweetness to counter. Sour tart fruit mix with a bit of strawberry sweetness before a bit of plastic phenol flavor and funk come up to greet my palette. Medium body which is more than I was expecting for such a low alcohol brew. Moderate level of carbonation with a tart sweet mouthfeel. I'm glad I got to try this as its a pretty good beer. That said I'm glad I didn't rush over to buy $15 bottles of this at the brewery.

Tap at Armsby Abbey

Big pillowy head of 3 fingers fades semi slowly with clouds forming lots of layred lacing cloudy as hell with a tangerine orange color.

Nose just a bit of funk. Bready yeast, a light fluffy bready like sweetish cake thingy malt, a bit of fresh strawberry as well as a bit of tart strawberry like. The nice farmhouse like funk just sits in the background the whole time and gets stronger as it warms, bringing an earthy tannic like seed aroma or something.

Taste starts with tons of fresh strawberry, like fresh cut strawberries, strawberry juice, little tart strawberry, and even thawing frozen stawberries. Then light malty bready cake, a hint of vanilla gives it a vienna finger cake like taste that isnt too sweet either. Funk is def there with a nice light lacto like farmhouse funk and a great creamy sour tartness. It has a light strawberry seed taste with tannins. The finish is fairly dry bready, a definite wild funk limgering, but a bit yeasty tasting and a little watery, some lingering strawberry.

Mouth lighter bodied a little creamy, decnt carb, feels a bit watery.

Overall quite nice. Although i think i remember the first time i had it at Julians beer dinner to be a bit more sour and funky, but this is still delicious. Nose is a bit lagging but very tasty.

On tap at Redbones. One off berliner wiesse. They brewed this berliner with hopes of getting it out at EBF 2008, but it wasn't ready. They threw in some more bugs and let it sit for the year and added 200 pounds of fresh strawberry, for the heck of it.

Sharp, sour fruit aroma. A nice dose of funk and light fruity, grainy notes. It hits me like a dirty piece of strawberry chewing gum.

Lightly cloudy, pale straw color. Not much of a head, surprisingly. I kind of wish it were pink, but it looks like a Berliner Wiesse ought to.

Taste is just the way it should be, nice and sharp, refreshing tartness. It's fairly sour, but clean and lactic, again with a nice funk to it. It's got a nice hay-like grainy note. Complex, the fruit comes through and adds another layer, rather than being the forefront. No real bitterness, tart, dry, refreshing finish. Really drinkable.

Light mouthfeel, though it almost feels like the sourness sticks in the mouth, like a sweettart. Carbonation is pretty high and helps the refreshing-ness of the beer.

Very drinkable, very nice, flavorful and clean. Very well done. Strawberries are subtle, but add nicely. Worth the wait!

On-tap at the Porter in Atlanta.

Pours a lemon-yellow color with a half-finger white head. The head recedes into a thin layer on top leaving decent lacing.

Smells of candied strawberries - somewhat similar to a Starburst - with a good deal of citric tartness. There's also a bit of funk that evens things out.

Tastes similar to how it smells. The strawberry flavors complement the smooth tart lemon flavors very well and do not overpower anything. Both flavors carry through to a crisp ending.

Mouthfeel is good. It has a solid thickness for the style with active carbonation.

Drinkability is very good. I finished my glass quickly and could easily have a few more.

Overall I went into this beer with high expectations and they were met. Well worth a shot.

Smutty/Swift NYC Beer fest

A- A pale hazy gold color. Minimal lacing. No streamers noted.

S- A sharp (hint) sour strawberry chardonnay nose.

T- Definetly a tart & bright strawberry upfront. Light sulfur notes with a lingering tart strawberry.

M- tart, crisp, dry.

D- I like sours & B.W...and I like this one...not a session beer. More of a sipper & appreciate the craftsmanship.

appearance: golden

smell: loaded berry aroma, also sweet sugar/candy

taste: Was very similar to festina peche but with strawberry, nice sour aspect. a little on the sweet side. kinds of like those little cheap strawberry candys. In a good way.

mouthfeel: light bodied

drinkability: not bad. But I can appreciate when a brewery can properly brew a light ABV and fruit beer right. Nice job!

Draft at The Pour House in Westmont, NJ.

Pours a very hazy, dark golden yellow color with paler banana colored edges and a one finger white head that quickly settles into lasting ring.  Spotty lacing left behind. I was expecting it to look artificial like red food coloring but fortunately it looks true to the style.

Slightly funky aroma with musty brett, bready yeast, banana, clove and citrus.  Subtle lactic presence with a bit of fresh beery.  Subtle sulfur like presence but they did a decent job of integrating the dessert characteristics into the Berliner notes.

Medium bodied with tart, puckering sourness up front that isn't harsh or overly acidic.  Lactic funk and sourdough bread notes with citrus/lemon peel acidity.  Earthy and musty with a decent dry brett presence.  Subtle creaminess with a prominent berry flavor coming in at the end of the palate.  Still, it's not overly sweet and is similar to a traditional Berliner.  Crisp and very refreshing.  Sometimes these fruit infused/dessert Berliners are overly sweet and overpower everything that's great about the style but this beer is excellently balanced and very well done.
