Style: German Pilsener

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.20%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Made for taking a break from the Sturm und Drang of modern life, this elegantly refreshing pilsner was created with German malt balanced with the spicy tang of Czech Saaz hops. The bread and biscuit flavors of the grain are topped with the floral character of the Noble hop, which may just get you to shimmy into your favorite lederhosen, bust into a quick schuhplattler and loudly proclaim, “Das ist Vunderbar!” Prost! 33 IBU (AKA - Short Batch #11)

Poured into a pilsener glass, the appearance was a soft hazy burnt yellow with a sly transparency about it. Carbonation could be seen rising at a moderate pace to fill a one finger white foamy rocky head that sustained for a good minute. Delicate lace clung nicely. The aroma starts off with some honey-ed sweet biscuits rolling into some sweet grassy notes. The flavor takes the previously mentioned aromas to boot and slide into the aftertaste with a sweet wet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a crisp sweet semi-refreshing sessionability about it. Carbonation rides light in the feel. Semi-sticky smooth to the touch on my tongue. Overall, nice German pilsener, pass me some bratwurst while I put on my lederhosen and want more of this. I’d have definitely have again.

Pours a hazy gold color. One inch head of a white color. Great retention and good lacing. Smells of strong pale malt, strong floral, hop, spice, citrus hops, and strong resin. Fits the style of a German Pilsner. Mouth feel is sharp and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of strong pale malt, strong floral, hop, spice, citrus hops, sight vanilla, apple, and strong resin. Overall, good appearance, aroma, blend, and feel.

Look - Pours a slightly hazy straw/yellow color, two fingers of foamy white head, no lacing.
Aroma - Lemon rind, herbal, fresh baked bread.
Taste - Zesty up front, puckery hop bitterness, lemon grass, very floral. Malt is smooth, biscuity and semi-sweet. A bit nutty and grainy towards the finish with lingering floral hop oils.
Feel - Light-Medium bodied, very smooth and silky, well carbonated, dry. Perfect.

Overall - Delicious pilsner, a must try if you love the style.

A - Pours a semi-hazy straw yellow color, sprightly carbonation, and a delicate creamy white head of foam on top.

S - Grassy, earthy, lemons, straw, and crackery crisp malt, and dry aroma.

T - Follows the nose exactly. Biscuity malt, crisp, delcate honey presence, light lemon, some momentary earthiness, slightly floral, and a little bit of pepper that surfaces on the back end.

M - Lots of prickly carbonation on the tongue, bone dry finish, some mild lingering citrus bitterness.

O - This is a really fine American interpretation of the style. At the current score of (86) => underrated. Will be buying more of this.

This beer pours a crystal clear light golden yellow color with a one finger, dense, foamy bright white head. Retention is excellent and there are many chunks of hanging lacing.

Smell is very hoppy. Floral hops, fresh cut grass, citrus, peppery spice and a touch of crackery malt are all present.

Taste is the same. A big bouquet of hop flavors with a hint of biscuity and crackery malts.

Feel is light, crisp and super drinkable. The carbonation is very high, which when combined with the slight bitterness from the hops makes for an excellent zing on a dry finish.

Overall a great pilsner. I've never seen this beer in a stand alone 6pk, in fact I've never seen this beer until I bought the Smutty Spring Variety Pack, but I need to keep an eye out. If I can get this in a 6pk I will buy it all summer long.

L: Translucent, mostly clear, but slightly hazy straw. Solid levels of carbonation streaming up the glass. Big, foamy, white head with excellent retention, and excellent lacing.

S: Yep...this is why I love pilsners. That aroma of crisp, zippy Noble hops is so damn fantastic. It's bright, ripping lemon peel, freshly cut grass, zesty herbs and pepper, and a light cracker malt backbone. But man, the floral, grass, and citrus notes just rip at the nostrils!

T: A little bit more balanced on the palate, but still massively hoppy. Huge amounts of lemon peel, pith, and zest. Cracker malt with dabs of honey. Smooth and well rounded, with a big burst of floral and grassy hoppiness near the finish. Almost a bit of white peach, too, strangely enough. Finishes dry, clean, with more lemon and grass.

F: Medium-ish bodied, but very carbonated, so it feels full on the palate on the whole while. This would pair excellently with food.

O: Another great, hoppy pils. Highly recommend to any other fan of hoppy pilsners!
