Style: Extra Special / Strong Bitter (ESB)

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.00%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
The Bitter style came from brewers who wanted to differentiate these ales from other mild brews, enter pale malts and more hops. Most are gold to copper in color and are light bodied. Low carbonation. Alcohol should be low and not perceived. Hop bitterness is moderate to assertive. Most have a fruitiness in the aroma and flavor, diacetyl “butterscotch” can also be present in small amounts. Red Rock serves this on nitro.

S - draft
A- beautiful thick and creamy head with a nice deep amber color below. It truely looks wonderful
S - nose is a little lacking but it still looks good so i'm not discouraged
T - first comes the malt, is there hops? I think they may have shaken hands then run away with the rest of the flavor. the flavor disolves really quickly and finishes into nothing
M - ok
D- I wonder if i am disappointed in their beers because I have an east coast pallet. again i was disappointed

This one presents a clear dark amber color with a very dense two finger thick off white head and good lace to boot. Very mild nutty smell, a little sweet vanilla perhaps but kind of whimpy. Tastes nutty with a pleasant citrus hops touch. Almonds and wheat toast, very easy drinking, creamy feel. Nice but might be overly mild for some, not very bitter.

I sampled this beer today on tap at the brewery. Served on Nitro. Poured a nice rich amber color with a creamy white head. Smelled of rich malt and a touch of fine grassy hops. The flavor was smooth, very balanced between malt and hops. Due to the Nitro it had a very creamy and smooth finish. This is a beer to sit at the pub with and drink pint after pint. A very nice well balanced beer.

Came out a nice dark amber color with decent head and lacing. Had a very nice slightly bitter scent, you could detect the hoppiness but it wasn't overpowering. Great taste! An excellent hoppy/bitter beer with a nice, slightly bitter aftertaste, without going overboard. Went down great, too. I would definitely have this again if I ever found myself in Salt Lake and they had it on tap. (I believe it's seasonal.)

A - Pours kinda cloudy dark amber, some carbonation, tiny head, some lacing throughout the drink.

S - Scents of hops, and malts.

T - The taste is pretty hoppy, slight bite in the finish/aftertaste.

M - Medium body.

D - Drinkable. Again, not to bad of a brew, would recommend for sure.
