Our Bavarian Weisse is a top-fermented, traditional German wheat bier. Phenolic, ester with a slight banana aroma typical of this fine German ale. The perfect springtime brew. It’s like a liquid welcome to warm weather. Prost!

Caution: Red Rock makes a "Hefe-Weizen" year round, and a "Weisse" during the summer months. This review is for the year round Hefe-weizen, and based on the poor reviews from others I believe they are referring to the Hefe-weizen as well. (the Weisse is much better)

Appearance is a spooky yellow-green color with an almost non-existent head. Palate is... the most disappointing Hefe-weizen I've ever tasted. Almost no flavor, and some unpleasant dough tastes. Very little bananna taste. Finish is short, and this beer is very very light bodied. Almost watery. The German tourist sitting next to me at the Olympics said it best "Don't order the Hefe-Weizen!"

A - Fully hazy, short head, some minimal lacing
S - Some clove banana esters, bready grain, mild citrus accent
T - Starts grainy with leafy hop kick, then yeasty esters and spice take over and last through the finish with a big of sweet citrus
M - medium to ligh, somewhat sweet, grainy finish
O - a good effort at a very specific style, there is just something about it that keeps it from getting 4's across the board but can't put my finger on what exactly

Cloudy yellow w/ a decent sticky head. Bubblegum esters are most prominent in the aroma, but are bit too understated. Tart, lemony flavor, w/ LOTS of clove. A bit lacking in body. Finishes with a lingering mustiness. It's a decent brew, but it seems to bean American / German hefeweiss hybrid. Definitely lacking the complexity of a true German Weisse. It's not unlike Sam Adams Weisse.

Poured into an imperial pint glass, it looked as if it were poured caramel with a white rocky head. Excellent lacing and retention

Strong phenols in the aroma, predominantly banana

Whoa!! This was the best weisse I’ve had in a while. Almost like a nice new candy, it had a strong banana up front, but had a bit of clover and coriander in there once it warmed up. All were backed up with their homies, the sweet malts.
Had a lingering sweet flavor after the initial medium mouthfeel.
Sweet, but not annoying/cloying sweet, enabling you to have several. This was no hefe, this was definitely a dunkel...

This was actually my favorite offering at Redrocks (this really doesn't say too much). Regardless, it had the look of a "bavarian weiss," cloudy yellow with a nice-sized white head. Smell was noticeable and very banana-y, with some cloves (maybe a little too estery). Taste was much the same and I got the overall impression of bubblegum. Not great, but for Utah, not bad either.
