Style: American Porter

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.00%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
Inspired from the now wavering English Porter, the American Porter is the ingenuous creation from that. Thankfully with lots of innovation and originality American brewers have taken this style to a new level. The hop bitterness is minable and well balance with dark malts.

Dark deep ruby hue, thin head. Chocolate malt dominates the aroma & a bit of black patent sharpness is there as well. Smoother, mocha flavors from the combination of roasted grain bitterness and caramel malt sweetness. Unfortunately the body is too weak to support the malt flavors. It tastes more like an American Brown (and a good one at that) but falls short for a porter. Finishes thin w/ mild roasted grain bitternss. This could've been a good porter... lousy Mormons. I was thinking brown ale all the way.

A - Pours a nice deep dark brown in color, some carbonation, nice tan creamy head, nice lacing afterwards.

S - Scents of sweet roasted malts and some toffee/caramel.

T - The taste is kinda sweet/bitter, nice malt taste with some toffee/caramel undertones.

M - Medium body.

D - Drinkable. This is a very nice porter.

The beer was dark brown with amber hues at the edges of the glass. The color is just a shade light for my liking. The nose is a little weak, with only some hints of chocolate going on in there. The taste starts out a roasted coffee and moves to a dark chocolate with a nice lingering crisp hop on the finish. I like it. The feel was moderate to thick with some creamy notes as well. For the colder weather while I was there, this was a nice beer. I would recommend this beer for people to try.
