500 ml bottle from the Utah system poured into my goblet.

Appearance: A clear pale yellow with a wonderful craggy perfectly white head. It settled after a little while to leave nice lacing the whole while. Carbonation streams up the middle look very nice also.

Smell: A little yeast phenols, funk, spice, earthy hops and malt all rolled up together in a happy little five-way. None seems to be dominating.

Taste: The taste follows the nose. The malts is light while the hops and spice go along for the ride. The yeasty phenols are a little more noticeable in the taste while the funk is less so. This is a clear saison. The finish is very nice and dry.

Mouthfeel: The body is on the light side, while the carbonation is strong, exact for the style. Again the finish is very dry but the lingers just long enough to savor.

Overall: An approachable saison. Maybe would be appropriate for someone experimenting with craft beer trying to broaden their horizons. A BMC drinker might say it is sour. Will get again. BM me if you want to trade for it, it should be readily available.

From BeerAdvocate magazine Issue #63 (Apr 2012):

Stunning at first sip. Closing our eyes and hoping that when we open them again we would be transported to Belgium … nope, but our taste buds thought they were. A real treat to quaff.

LOOK: Clear golden yellow, three fingers of head

SMELL: Cotton candy, medicinal herbs, green peppercorn, chalky yeast, peaches

TASTE: Smooth, doughy biscuits, Juicy Fruit gum, mildly peppery, kiss of alcohol, shortbread, overripe peaches, citric rind, herbal, white cherries, semidry finish

Picked up at Bier Thirty tonight for $5.. Pricey for what it is. Poured into my HotD goblet.. 2 finger white head.. great lacing and retention.. the brew is polished straw golden.

Nose is both strongly phenolic and slightly lesser estery... peppery/light clove.. pieces of pink bubblegum... fruitiness shows more as pear and underripe apple.

Flavor mirrors the nose almost perfectly.. a bit of vinyl/plastic notes show on the finish with warmth.

Light body with a strong carbonation.

Overall, IMO it is much more of a BPA ... I get the saison qualities, but BSPA rings more true in my mind/palate.

Had this at the Downtown location. Received a 500mL bottle and a pint glass.

3.5 A: Very lightly hazed dark yellow. Two fingers of frothy white head. Retention isn't great and a small ring of lacing is left.

3.5 S: Good amount of herbal and floweriness. Lightly grainy malts. Grapefruit fruitiness. Good.

3.5 T: Grainy, big herbal, earthy fresh spring. Light bitterness and grapefruit.

3.0 M: Medium body. High carbonation for the style and lacking creaminess.

3.5 D: This might be closer to an herbal pale ale than a saison, but it's still a good beer.

Clear chill hazed yellow colored beer with an enormous white colored head.

Smells of flowers and coriander with a honeysuckle malt aroma. Smells spicy and herbal and almost spells bitter. Powdery yeast scent almost like a witbier.

Starts out herbal and dry. Sharp bitter note in the finish. Earthy flavor of mushroom. Tastes like a field of flowers. Bitterness level is very high for the style.

Mouthfeel is full.

Overall an OK beer that is on the bitter extreme for the style.

A great pour, cloudy, hazy super light straw color. Lots going on here. First the funk! Love it! Citrus and slight banana then the spices hit you. Clove/coriander, peppery goodness and some sweet grasses and ya then there is the yeasty funk! Funk ya! Good beer!

500 ml bottle. Poured into snifter glass.

Appearance: very thick and foamy head. About 3 inches which dissipated a couple minutes later to a half inch. Bright hay and hazy in color.

Smell: instantly smell strong yeast. Very bread with some melon and faint nose of citrus.

Taste: sweet and yeasty throughout with some earthy bitterness interlaced. Mild citrus and fruity notes.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied. Smooth throughout.

Overall: there are no surprises in this beer but it is a solid Saison. Not overly hopped, not overly spiced; very fragrant and sweet. A very flavorful brew.

First had on at Red Rock Brewpub, SLC, poured from 16.9-oz. bottle into goblet. Hoppier than traditional saisons, but traditionally-hopped rather than trendily dry-hopped.
