I CAN't seem to catch up, but I CAN thank my local, in-person trader, tone77, for this CANtribution to The CANQuest (tm)! At first, I was saddened by his annual southward migration for the winter, but then I became the recipient of his scouring his now-local bottle shops on my behalf. Now, I am happy to see him go! Hmmmm, that did not come out quite as intended ...

From the CAN: "Community Builder"; "A portion of the proceeds benefit ... Trails Utah"; "Brewed with RENEWABLE POWER Wind & Solar"; "Earth, Wind and Beer"; "Dialed In by Uinta Brewing Co."; "Don't forget to [recycle]."

I Crack!ed it open, but as soon as it began foaming through the vent, I got the Glug! going pretty quickly. This resulted in three fingers of foamy, rocky, bone-white head that fell fairly quickly into wisps, leaving spotty lacing in its wake. Color was an oh-so-slightly-hazy Pale-Straw (SRM = 1 - 2). Nose had a pronounced lemon zestiness, which, acCANponied by a biscuit maltiness put me in mind of lemon biscotti from Enrico's Biscotti in Pixburgh. Mouthfeel was soft, light and caressing of my poor tongue which CANtinues to wonder what it did to deserve such punishment. The taste was more oriented towards the earthy, biscuity malt, marking it clearly as a German-style Pilsner, but it was not a sweet as some (many?) that I have had in that style. Finish was semi-dry, clean, more biscuity than lemony. It was tasty, but I was left feeling unfulfilled, especially at only 4% ABV. I just think that there are better examples of the style available.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a bright yellow color with a 1 inch head. Smell is mild, malts, some sweetness. Taste is also mild, malts, grassy, some faint bitterness at the finish. Feels medium/light in the mouth and overall, not a bad beer, but lacking any real oomph.

12 ounce can poured into a pint glass

A: Pours a straw pale yellow with a bright white head, very clear, some slight lacing, minimal head retention.

A: Hay, grassy, bready aromas, slight floral, malts, no alcohol at all, aromas could be brighter, solid overall.

T: Follows the nose with hay, grass, floral hop notes, biscuit and bread malt flavors, finish is dry with lemon/floral notes lingering in the aftertaste, very light, crisp and refreshing.

M: Light bodied with a dry crisp finish.

O: A very drinkable light bodied pilsner, lighter than some of the others I've tried, lemon/floral notes add a nice touch of bitterness, especially enjoyable in hot so Cal weather.

Clear ultra clear yellow colored beer with a small white colored head.

Smells of clean pilsner malt and mild noble hops. Smells of hay and herbs. Pretty basic smell.

Begins slightly sweet with a mostly grain flavor. Medium level of bitterness. Tastes grassy with some herbal hop taste.

Overall this is a step up from your average Utah supermarket beer but the Bohemian version is better.

Nice light gold beer with a white head that fades but leaves nice bands of lacing. The nucleation site of the glass continued to supply a nice patch of bubbles to the center of the beer. The smell is mineral water, light sweetness, bread, light floral notes and some hop scent. The taste is light and crisp with a toasted malt and mildly sweet taste. There is a nice floral component and a slightly bitter hop finish. This is a really nice pilsner.

pours pretty cloudy for a pilsner. golden yellow. it does have an excellent chalk white, fluffy head with great lacing and retention. enough to pump it up to 3.25. (would be below 3 if not for the excellent head)
nose is bready, biscut malt. light floral, grassy hops.
taste follows. bready biscut malt up front followed by a subtle floral, grassy hop character.
clean, crisp body.
to be fair, im pretty sure the beer is at least a year old....so certainly not optimal freshness ;)
overall, not a bad pilsner.

A: Pours a relatively clear medium yellow in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation and a faint amount of golden yellow highlights. The beer has a two finger tall foamy bright white head that reduces to a medium thick film covering the entire surface of the beer with a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of bready and cereal grain malts with a light aroma of grassy + earthy hops.

T: Upfront there is a moderate flavor of bready and cereal grain malts with just the slightest hint of sweetness. That is followed by light to moderate flavors of grassy + earthy hops which contribute a light amount of bitterness to the finish which fades pretty quickly.

M: Light bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Crisp.

O: Easy to drink, refreshingly crisp, and infinitely sessionable. I could easily have a few of these at any given time and I found it to be quite enjoyable.

This pours with a very classic light golden pilsner look, highly transparent, and with a small-to-medium head that doesn't totally fade. On the nose there's a little bit of pilsner sourness with a grassy lemon aroma. The grassy lemon comes through on the taste, and luckily the sourness does not. There's some bite to it that helps to round out the flavor and mask the thin-ness of the body. The mouthfeel is a little bit on the sticky side. Overall it's a pretty well-crafted pilsner - light enough to appeal to more casual drinkers, but with enough bite and heft to be drinkable for others.

I just bumped this score up as it has grown on me as one of the better local pilsner options. Like any good pilsner, this is a solid all-around beer that is highly drinkable, good in just about any situation, and won't repulse anybody at a party.
