LOOK: Poured from a 750ml bottle and into a snifter. 1 finger head that quickly recedes. Hazy gold/orange color. Looks almost like a N.E. IPA.
SMELL: Not quite as aromatic as many Saisons. Definitely tart fruit / citrus. Some bread/spice/malt.
TASTE: A tiny bit of hops at first, but the it races into Orange and Grapefruit - hints of Peach. There are some strong malty notes that are enjoyable as it sweetens just after the citrus bite. Dries out and leaves you with a strong Orange flavor (almost an Orange sherbet). A decent amount of spice and yeast throughout.
FEEL: Medium bodied. Flattens out a bit too much / too quickly.
OVERALL: A really good and really interesting beer. Very fruity and peppery. Starts off orange, but seems to end with grapefruit. I really hoped for more carbonation and more Belgian yeast flavors. But this is still a good beer. Tastes lighter like session beer, but does still pack a good punch at 6% ABV.

[Original rating 2014-09-20] Pours clear gold with a thick white head. Aroma is straw, grass, hint of black pepper. Strongly phenolic when poured but that settles down. Taste is a little fruity - citrus, apple, pear. Finish is dry, peppery with a little bread. Carbonation is a bit low for a saison.

Light amber in color and a spicy scent. The spice also comes through on the taste along with a touch of citrus. Good amount of carbonation and an all around good saison.

Reviewed from (long-standing) notes. Poured from a 750 mL bottle into a 7venth Sun goblet.
A: Hazy gold, with good carbonation and a big fluffy white head that lasts for a good while.
S: Musty and yeasty, cracker malts and lemon citric bite. Faintly peppery as well.
T: Musty yeast over white-bready malts. Mild lemony citric acid, farmhouse attic funk, and hard water minerals. Hints of black pepper, and a mild hop bitterness at the end. Finishes fairly dry.
M: A light, crackly body with good carbonation sensation. Low alcohol presence.
O: Pretty tasty. Nothing to make it stand out, but enjoyable.

750ml to pilsner glass.
Appearance: hazy yellow...big white head.
Aroma: citrus, wheat, light yeast. Fruit esters.
Taste: pineapple, grapefruit, some hops and pine.
Feel: bubbly, and creamy. Odd combo, but both positive.

A little bit spicy, but enough to save this saison. Some peppery spiciness right up front, and not much to back it up with after that. Medium golden hazy body with airy head. Overall consistency is fairly watery, aroma is equal parts malt, hops and spice. A little disappointing

Poured from bottle into shaker, nice monster foamy head, nice retention and lacing. Looks turbid dark golden in the glass. Smells of farmhouse yeast, grapefruit and citrus. Taste of traditional saison esters with citrus and grapefruit, not much spiciness and not too dry a finish. Love this saison and sad it is no longer made. The bottle I am drinking now is almost 2 years old and still holding up. I have drank several of these over the past 2 years and the only difference is the younger versions are a tad bit dryer

This beer sucks it tastes like a Heineken. Maybe it's just skunked I am not sure. Is it supposed to be this sour/funky?

Poured from a bomber into a pint glass. A beautiful creamy white head and good lacing, a cloudy yellow color. Fragrant sweet fruity smell. Well carbonated with a crisp feel. Taste of orange, maybe a bit sweet. Not a bad saison.

Just drank the last bottle I have. (Re-discovered in the back of the beer fridge.) Almost 2 1/2 years old. Has held up remarkably well for a 6% er. Worth brewing again, Uinta!!

Appearance: Slightly hazy medium golden body, crowned by a large, very dense and persistent cloud-top head, which retains very, very well. Thick lacing lines the glass walls in an unbroken sheet. Massive clouds of fine bubbles drift lazily to the surface.
Aroma: Floral and peppery with lots of apple rind, coriander, fresh hay, seeds of paradise, white bread, grapefruit and orange rind, yielding a rather complex aroma.
Taste: Opens with orange and grapefruit rind, soon followed by coriander and white pepper. Soon after, bitter apple rind offers a flourish. The alcohol is warming, and phenols present soon after the opening of the taste, and linger on to the close. Late in the taste, dried apricots appear, along with earthy hops, offering a complex, but balanced closing.
Mouth feel: Smooth, full and soft with abundant, but gentle carbonation.
Drinkability/notes: A fine and drinkable example, its a shame its no longer produced. If you find a bottle languishing on the shelves, buy it.
Presentation: Packaged in a 750 ml brown glass Belgian-style bomber sealed with a cork and cage. Served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice. Bottled on date of 07/30/2014.
