Poured from 12 oz can dated best by 12/22/2017 so it might be a touch on the older side.

A: Crystal clear golden yellow with 1-2 finger fluffy white head. Nice retention and moderate lacing.

S: Tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, and fresh pine. A bit of baked bread and caramel.

T: Bright citrus with a blend of tangerine and grapefruit. Maybe a touch of lemon zest. The tangerine almost overpowers everything else but there is some pine and a subtle sweetness hanging around in the back.

M: Medium body with average carbonation.

O: Well executed IPA but I think I prefer the grapefruit variant a little more.

On tap:
Pours a little dirty amber, and without much head on full pour. Ok lacing and what head was there lasted pretty well.

Nose isn't strong but seems a mix of pine wood and citrus.

Taste has a slightly oxidized note to it, but ignoring that I get pine, a little grapefruit, and then a fair squirt of tangerine. It's not great, but not bad to this point - about mid-taste.

So, there isn't a surprise until the second half of the taste. The lingering piney bitterness mixed with the juice of tangerine to produce a lemon/pine/toothpaste undesirable flavor that eventually ends lemony tart. I could finish if forced, but I'm giving it up only halfway through.

Partially wonder if bad, though GF rated it poorly a year ago, and we aren't too far off most times. Then again, I'm usually around +/-5% to BA avg, so who knows.

Tangerine IPA poured from a can into a Bell's tulip. The pour is murky and burnt orange in color with hardly any bloom at all. Just a half-finger that dissolves rather quickly. I get some marmalade and buiscity notes on the nose and some subdued hop aromas. Doesn't really smell like a good IPA should.

Medium body, nice firm feel, and a badly constructed flavor profile. Starts out with bread, honey, and marmalade, then you get some grapefruit and cedar. It's certainly bitter, but it's astringent and pithy, not fruity and pleasant. It's like I'm getting hop oils, but I'm also getting the stems, twigs, sap, and fertilizer too. The main word that comes to mind is "over-extracted". Finishes on a medicinal note, which always turns me off with an IPA.

In all fairness, this might have been an older can (it was given to me, so I have no idea when it was purchased). Still, I have yet to be impressed enough by a Uinta beer to buy it, take it home, and review it. This one was a freebie (thank goodness). No way would I buy this while there are so many killer IPAs out there within arms reach. I'm still open to trying more of their beers at my weekly tasting. If I ever come across one I really like, I'll be happy to buy it.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 11/25/2017. Pours crystal clear deep golden amber/light orange color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big tangerine, red grapefruit, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, pine, toasted bread, light caramel, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/tropical/pine hops, tangerine zest, and moderate bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tangerine, red grapefruit, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, pine, toasted bread, light caramel, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus rind, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, red grapefruit, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, melon, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, pepper, pine, toasted bread, and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/pine hops, tangerine zest, and moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero lingering hop/fruit astringency after the finish. Moderate increasing dryness from bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, and sticky/resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 7.3%. Overall this is a delicious fruited IPA. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/pine hops, tangerine zest, and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/drying finish. Don’t really prefer this much over the base beer; but it is a lot more vibrant, tropical, and dank on hop/fruit flavors. Definitely a more modern hop bill. Nice malt backbone, without being sweet or overly aggressive. A very enjoyable offering.
