L:Ruby/rust red color, opaque. Poured a decent head that fades somewhat quickly. Light lace
S: Very sweet, hints of caramel in there as well as grapes/raisins, plums, and toffee. Hops are present and floral in aroma
T: Nice, hard to rate though, the malts in this beer are really smooth and delicious. Quite sweet, notes of raisin, fig, ect, toffee and caramel. Hop bitterness is great but a little overwhelming. I see why they are strong, they help to counterbalance the very sweet malt but IMO its a little overdone.
F: Smooth, medium carb, body is pretty light for a barleywine which is great. Hops create a drying astringency however that take away from the drinkability.
O: Impressed that a 10% beer has no detectable alcohol. Just needs a touch more balance to hit that home run. May drink again.

I love barley wines however this tastes more like a bitter IPA. Not necessarily bad, just not the taste profile I would expect from a barley wine..

12 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass.

Appearance: Copper-brown, opaque. Pours with a rich tan head that dissipates slowly.

Smell: Earthy hop smell very poignant. A bit of caramel aroma can be detected.

Taste: Hop bitterness is very noticeable. Quite generously hopped. Alcohol is well balanced with the caramel and toasted bread malt flavor.

Mouthful: Medium body. Low carbonation. Very smooth

Overall: If you are a hop-head, this an American Barleywine for you. For the rest of us, its slightly over-hopped for the style. However beneath the bitterness is a very good beer. Definitely worth a try. Do not age, as you will lose that hop aroma.

Poured a clear reddish dark brown with a two finger white head. Heavy lacing is present. Curiously, the aroma is of slight sour toffee. Slightly sweet flavor of caramel and malt with a more pronounced bitter taste on the end. The flavor is not very complex. This is a heavy beer as expected for a barley wine. The alcohol is present but not overpowering. Not too impressed with this beer.

Poured a clear amber tinted brown body with minimal head/lace and has an aroma that balances caramel, toffee, hints of dark fruits like figs and bits of citric hops along with touch of booze. Fuller bodied beer with a sticky and sweet feel that gives off caramel/toffee/fig sweetness while balanced with a bitterly hoppy dry finish and a bit of heat from the booze ends up in finish. A little heavy thanks to more sweetness and booze that I think is necessary but it's a good beer.

Pours a murky deep red with 2 fingers of rich tan head; some slight lacing on the glass. Smells like candied cherries, tart malt, and a little hops. Upon the initial sip, sweet malt with cherries, brown bread, prunes, molasses, and earth are up front; the aftertaste is slightly dry and bitter, but it's balanced by some dark fruity malt. It's a full-bodied sipper that really hides it's 10% ABV; chewy and rich. Great tasting! The warmer it gets in the glass, the more complex it becomes. Give it a try!

This might be my favorite Barley Wine brewed in the US. Nice brown color with light tan head; lacing present; nice hoppy character with solid malt backbone; cherry notes present in aroma and flavor; alcohol warming definitely there; medium to high mouthfeel; good carbonation; 10.4% ABV; usually my last beer of the night; good night.
