12oz can. Poured out a cloudy, golden orange color with large, off-white head of foam. It smelled of citrus, pine and toasted caramel. Sweet citrusy taste with a sharp bitterness and toasted malt backbone.

at first i was excited to see something owning the title of session again, not trying to be low calorie or low carb or whatever health trend the industry is kicking around, i like low alcohol and high hops, and had way higher hopes for this. it ends up being thin and watery in feel, very one dimensional on the hops side, and that dimension is bitter bite in the finish, its generic mosaic and the worst side of it, cat pee rather than pineapple, and although its light and fizzy, the flavor and the long linger make it less than refreshing. ive never been a huge fan of their hoppy beers, i think they do a lot of other things better, and this seems to be a continuation of that. there is some greenness before the swallow, tastes more like pellets than the hop varietals themselves, but at least the fermentation is clean and dry and near invisible. i dont taste hardly any grain here, so there really isnt much depth or balance to this. i dont ask a ton of my session types, just come in fresh and approachable with a somewhat unique or else highly refined hop profile, and this doesnt get there. i had a bunch of tasty uinta beers in utah this past weekend, but this was hands down the weakest of the lot...

edit: i liked this a lot better the second time, maybe fresher, maybe reworked a little, but the hops seemed limey and juicy and brighter than they did when i had this last, and i like the bitterness more now too. not sure what has changed, but i found this flavorful, cleaner, and refreshing now, still not incredible by any stretch, but maybe deserves a little more credit than i first gave it, improving score a bit...

This was CANother recent find in the backlog here at Chez Woody to further The CANQuest (tm). Uinta CANs have been Pop!ping up L, R & C these past few days, but I think that this is the last one for the foreseeable future.

From the CAN: "Unfiltered IPA"; "canSOURCE"; "For Best Flavor - Enjoy In a Glass"; "Stalk us?"; "Brewed by Uinta Brewing Co Salt Lake City Utah USA"; "Forget the Map, Pack the Uinta"; "Brewed with Renewable power - Wind & Solar".

Since "Unfiltered" does not necessarily mean hazy or cloudy, I decided to go with a slow, gentle C-Line Glug following the Crack! of the vent. I beCAN with the best of intentions, but as things progressed, it became obvious that any attempt at clarity was going to be met with futility. By ramping things up, I caused the formation of two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, bone-white head with excellent retention. Color was a slightly-hazy Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7). Nose was light with a honey-grapefruit citrusy-sweetness. Hmm. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste remained light-grapefruit hops with a drizzle of honey malt. Mmm. The low ABV helped to render it eminently drinkable & I had polished off easily half of it before I even realized what had happened. Finish was dry, slightly bitter, definitely hoppy with a light honey-malt sweetness. It was a very pleasant drink, but for an AIPA, I was
left feeling kind of unfulfilled. YMMV.

This IPA delivers a lovely aroma of honey and citrus when poured - a very tantalizing aroma. A few sips reveal a well-balanced, easy-drinking IPA (I am glad I bought a 15 can pack).

Hazy orange in color with a thin white head and some lacing. Strong citrus smell and taste. A little bit of pine cones out in the flavor. Kind of a typical hazy ipa but it's not bad

So, a hiking themed west coast session IPA in fifteen packs from a respectable brewer for a reasonable price? Yes please, especially for Memorial Day weekend. Plenty of hop flavor and solid balance. Not terribly complex, but there is always a place for something like this in my fridge in the summer months.

Surprisingly tasty for a light 4.0% ABV - seems like a solid addition to Uinta's product line. Glad to see this product available in MA - worthy of a repeat purchase.
