Darker than expected amber color. Thick, lingering head and lace. Sweet and malty in flavor. Very drinkable.

My favorite beer. Careful to not let this malty brew sneak up on you.

12 oz can. Best before 3/20/18. Opened on 1/23/18 " unthinkably drinkable"

Amber color with golden highlights. A high rising all white foam cap is impressive, settles in fast but leaves plenty of bubbly left over froth and lace.

A very sweet, caramel malty and sweet tropical red fruit style hoppy nose. Boozy heat tingle, lush fruits...very sweet but complex. Starwberry jam from the hops. Maple syrup from the malt.

The flavor harkens back to the monstrously malty and bitter hopped west coast DIPA's of the past. The beer geek gold has turned into the lighter, malt, pine and juicy hopped and hazy New England Ipa' these days. So it's interesting to grab one of the amber hued ipa's....a thick malty presence right off, caramel, smoked wood and booze! Then, right on time, the earthy, bitter, piney hops crush the palate with ibu's. Earthy, dry notes, boozy heat and then a very nice burnt caramel complexity to the hops.in that order.

The body texture of the liquid is crisp, dry and then malty, practically full bodied....then dry and boozy heat to finish. Classic.

From a can into a tulip glass, amber in color, clear in opacity, minimal head, not bitter, almost barleywineesque

A great flavor but beware of easy drinkability at the high ABV... Well done!

Deep amber gold color with white cap.

Fairly strong scent of sharp, piney hops. There's rich malt in the background but hops dominate.

Taste on entry is hop forward with malt trailing behind. The hops shine with sharp brilliance yet remain somehow restrained. At 97 IBU they could be stomping in like a herd of elephants but they don't, rather a solid but slowly cadenced march. Malt really can't compete with hops on this level yet they stand with a united front that shows they have stuff of their own. The 9.5 % doesn't present a trace of alcohol flavor which helps make this beer easily drinkable.

Full texture with a mouth filling profile. Not alot in the way of carbonation but it doesn't really need any.

Years ago one of my favorite restaurants featured a desert named 'Death by Chocolate' which was not much bigger than a large biscuit yet contained 2000 calories. That's what I was reminded of when first tasting this brew because it packs so much into this 12 oz can. These are not complex flavors but they are deep and heavy resulting in a strong brew with an easy drinking quality.

Pours a hazy copper withh a nice off white, beige head with both good retention and side glass lace.
Aroma: A lot going on. I get citrus, especially grapefruit hops, caramel and stringent resin pine.
Taste: Malts enter creating good balance, creamy with sharp, drying hops.
Thick on the tongue. Bitter finish. Quite good.
