Hop Nosh IPA is a good-looking example of the style: having a slightly tarnished bronze hue, it's not exactly clean but maintains the better part of its clarity and its head is not just sturdy but sticky and spatters all over the glass. The sunny golden highlights it emits are like a visual echo of its strong citrus and tropical fruit flavours. I'm ready to nosh down!

Utah has probably the strictest alcohol laws in the US. What do I mean? Well, take this as an example: many restaurants are required to have a partition so that patrons can't physically see the person pouring their drinks (this is known as the "Zion Curtain"). And stores and bars hoping to sell beer over 4% require a special "liquor license" to do so.

So imagine my surprise to see that Utah's Uinta brews their IPA to the mighty-high strength of 7.3%! It certainly smells like a powerhouse, though that has nothing to do with alcohol; this bouquet is many things but boozy is certainly not one of them. Indeed, it's many things but all of them relating to one: hops. (Or, more specifically, two: Galaxy and Chinook.)

That steamroller full of lupulin goodness includes plenty of citrus - lime, lemon, orange and grapefruit, all their parts including skin, pith and seed - as well as juicy passionfruit, a brush of pine serum, a handful of fresh grass clippings, and a few decaying flower petals. There's also, just maybe, a drop of two of spongy toffee and lightly toasted breadcrusts.

Hop Nosh is a lean, green and mean machine! Each sip is like cramming your mouth full of hop cones to see how many you can fit - and, believe me, you'll keep trying to beat your own record! It's everything one could want in an IPA: balanced bitterness and enormously charismatic hop flavours that are probably too easy to enjoy for one's own good.

Hop Nosh IPA brewed by Uinta Brewing Company, with an ABV of 7.30% This brew pours out a cloudy amber color with a nice off white head. I really like the color of this IPA. The smell of Hop Nosh IPA is rich with hops, grains and malts. There is also a mild sweetness to the smell of this IPA. Hop Nosh IPA is an unfiltered brew you can not see though it. Now for the taste it is bold with flavors. You first pick up on the hops in this IPA. Then you pick up on the smoothness of grains and malts. There is also a nice grassiness to the taste of this brew. Hop Nosh IPA has a lot going on in it. There is also a nice amount of lacing to this brew, the paint glass is nicely lined. This IPA has the same characteristics of most IPA's on the market. Not saying that is a bad thing. It is really hard to pick up on the 7.30% ABV in this brew. This IPA goes down just so smooth. The month feel of Hop Nosh IPA is Bold, Rich, smooth clean and refreshing. Overall I'm giving Hop Nosh IPA a 4.50 out of 5. I would buy this brew again. If you are into unfiltered hoppie brews look this one up.Uinta Brewing Company, did a super nice job on this one.

Hop Nosh IPA | Uinta Brewing Company. Poured from the bottle into a pint glass, this beer's head is three fingers thick and off-white, with solid lacing, and a hazy amber body.

I smell piney, citrus-y hops with plenty of resin&juice.

Tastes like a slightly sweet blend of the smell with an extra-juicy finish.

The mouthfeel is medium with fair carbonation.

I'll rate Hop Nosh IPA | Uinta Brewing Company with an overall 4.5. A very gateway-potential unfiltered IPA that ought to hit the spot every time.

Hoppy (of course!) , more so in the taste than in the nose. Piney, citrusy, mildly astringent, some malt. Deep golden color with off white foamy head. surprisingly smooth despite the hops snap.

I remember being impressed by this beer when I had it this past spring; and it was one of the better IPA's I've had, even though it was beyond it's 'best by' date (if I remember correctly).

A: Medium brown color with a light tan head.

S: Grapefruit and light pine. Resinous with a lovely aroma, just classic hop characteristics in there.

T: Grapefruit and pine come right out with a bit of orange peel and perhaps a hint of earth. Slight honey, and a nice bitterness. Just a solid IPA.

M: Medium in feel with fairly lively carbonation, there is a softness to the texture of it, as well as a long oily bitter cling.

O: Overall, just a darn good IPA. Classic, tasty, and repeatable.

L - Interesting. Very dark copper/cloudy with a full finger of foam that dissipates quickly to 1/4 with symetrical lacing
S - Pine and citrus - smells "clean"
T - Pepper biscuit is predominant with a dry citrus finish
F - Pleasant enough, smooth
O - Pleasantly surprised and glad to have tried this. Great West Coast style AIPA.

Golden-orange with great head and lacing after pour. Pretty clear. Carbonation isn't overwhelming despite the beautiful head of the beer in mini-pint glass. Citrusy, mild hoppy flavor. Malty and sweet with slightly bitter finish. Medium-bodied and smooth. Nice aftertaste . A subtle, excellent IPA.

Yet another brewery to Iowa.

Pours a dark orange with some cloudiness. Head and lacing are great.

Not a lot of smell.

Taste is max hops. Pine, resin and tropical. Malt in the background and a little more than many. Some caramel in the finish.

Plenty of mouthfeel

Overall very tasty. A keeper.

On tap at the Shepard and the Knucklehead. An interesting rendition of the style. I was impressed from a brewer that I had heard relatively little about prior to this brew. Definitely had a tangerine, citrus like zest to the flavor which was dominated by a hop-laden presence. Interesting.

A-Stayed in the can...one last hotel beer!
S-Igrt some pine and citrus
M-Light mouthfeel and carbonation
T-Light flavour and a citrus resin that coats the tongue somewhat, there is a sweetness that kicks in on the aftertaste
O-This one just didn't do it for me, no real defining character

A - Hazy orange, off white head with a fade to a substantial cap, lots of persistent lacing, too.

S - It opens with huge wafts of citrus, tropical fruit, malty sweetness, and a biting spicy hit. Yum.

T - The fruit persists, but the open suggests pith and zest over juice, the middle comes with the malt and a sudden shot of juiciness as it fades into the close, where a bitter bite closing things out.

M - Mild carbonation, strong drying in the close, with some resin building over time.

O - Big nose, interesting range of tastes. This is an IPA that really delivers hop juiciness, and it is the better for it.

12oz can (best before 04/04/16G) poured into a bulbous pint glass.
A hazy copper colored body floating a 1in whitish head that disapates to a full cover with lacing.
Aromas are as expected, citrus and bitter.
Flavor matches with some malt to balance. Allegedly 3 months out of date, but good flavor.

Pours out with a nice golden/orange like color with a slightly off withe pillow soft head of foam. Lots of lacing left all down the glass on this one.

Smell is nice citrus and tropical fruit notes with a pine bitterness in the back. Also picking up some malts but the predominant smell is hops and more hops.

A whole lot of citrus up front and strong rush of grapefruit. Also picking up a bit of a dankness in the taste (best by 8-12-16 on the can). Seems like the malts are trying a bit to catch up to the hops on the taste.

Mouth feel is medium and finishes crisply with a bitter note that lingers for a bit.

Overall I feel this is a well crafted IPA that was just a tiny bit unbalanced. I know that a lot of people would call me out on this but with so many IPA's on the market give some of the others a twirl and you may get it. This batch could have also been off just a bit. Like I say the hops to malt balance being off balanced I am talking about is very slight but detectable. I do like the IPA overall and am very excited to try the tangerine version of the Hop Nosh.

Not "outstanding" in my mind ... quite a bit of bitterness on this one, which is fine, but where's the hop flavor? Too much malt in this one for me to want to really have it again with so many better IPAs out there.

Beer is a nice golden amber, mostly clear. The head is nice and thick, leaves a good deal of lacing. The smell is not much, light malt and some faint orange. The flavor is much better though. Very much a malt forward, medium body, some earthy and herbal notes and a hint of pine. Quite smooth. Resinous mouthfeel, with a slightly bitter aftertaste. A very good beer.

Copper hue, moderate opacity. Aroma is malt upfront, subtle pine. Sweet malt matches the aroma, finishes with a strong resinous like hops. Feel is thick, almost chewy. A llittle too much malt in my opinion, but it's still very drinkable.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a clear copper to orange color. Has a medium sized white head. The aroma is all hops with some citrus. The taste is a big hop rush with some citrus at the end. An outstanding beer.

Part of a mixed 9er and this one looks like it will pack quite a punch, lets give it a whirl. Popping the top I get a strong smell of citrus, grapefruit and the like. Pours to bright orange with a two finger peach colored head. On the taste this brew has a super evident mouthfeel upfront, thick as syrup. Taste then procedes with a butterscotch like maltiness and a quick big hop bite. The maltiness melts away and the bitterness increases to a mouth lingering aftertaste thats leaves a yearning for more. This is a heavy duty and complex beverage that at 7.3% will knock your socks off without letting on.

Gold color with bronzy tint, modest white head, but it leaves sudsy lacing. Primary scent of resinous hops. Taste with calm, moderate entry, then with malts and hops growing into a full rich ale. Hops are strong, but they do not overbalance the malts, which are tasty. A bit of caramel candy almost in there. Mouthfeel wonderfully smooth, rich, and rather creamy and sudsy. Finishes with bitter hop aftertaste.

Best before date was 07/24/16, and I had it on 20 May '16.

Poured into IPA glass. It pours an orange amber color with a thick, frothy, milk-white head and extensive lacing that lasted throughout the pour. The smell was fairly subdued: mostly malt with a whiff of pine needles and grapefruit. Like the smell, its taste was rather bland: sweet malt, earthy, and grassy with a hint of citrus and a rather bitter, hoppy finish. Neither the hops nor the fruit exploded on the palate. This ale is medium-bodied and creamy, with moderate carbonation and the ABV of 7.3 makes for easy drinking. Overall, I was disappointed with the smell and taste but in fairness the bottle was 5 months old. I'm a big fan of Uinta's Dubh and I will give Hop Nosh the benefit of the doubt and try it again - hopefully fresher.

Clear and amber-golden with a huge, rocky, white head, this beer is attractive. The aroma is spicy, with pine and citrus-peel hop scents. The taste is balanced slightly sweet, with a huge hoppy-fruity character. It's almost juicy with the flavors. The beer is full in body and very enjoyable.
