12oz bottle, from a random grocery store in Glendale, Colorado.

This beer pours a slightly hazy, medium golden yellow colour, with a fistful of puffy, loosely foamy, and mostly bubbly off-white head, which leaves some spidery cobwebbed lace around the glass as it quickly bleeds away.

It smells of musty, somewhat dank pine needles, watery orange juice, grainy, crackery pale and caramel malt, and further leafy, floral hops. The taste is bitter pine resin, orange cream, white grapefruit rind, gritty caramel malt, a touch of earthy yeast, and leafy, weedy, and moderately perfumed hops.

The carbonation is average in its bearing, not really in a palate-tickling mood, the body on the light side of medium weight, and actually more or less smooth, the hops really starting to act tardy. It finishes off-dry, the caramel sweetness exhibiting a decent final flourish in the face of an arisen hop bitterness.

A pleasantly hoppy, and duly balanced IPA, the flavours all meshing nicely. Any extra alcohol is well integrated, making this a warming and enjoyable tipple - Utah be representin'!

A bit much for my liking but no question it's a west coast style IPA. Far from a session beer but enjoyable on a cool fall evening.

A - Twp fingers of thick, white head. Opaque, amber body with visible carbonation. Great head retention and lacing.

S - Sweet fruits (some tropical and peach) and slight pine.

T - Some tropical fruit and resin. Then a deal of citrus bitterness, like biting into a slice of orange without the rind removed.

M - Full bodied with moderate carbonation.

O - A little too bitter in the finish for my liking but still at great IPA.
