I went to City Swiggers in the Upper East Side of NYC to find a great local IPA selection. I had never heard of Uinta Brewery, but decided to give an American Brewery's IPA a try. I drank from the 10 oz. bottle and boy was I amazed by the initial smell that this hoppy beer gave off (good reason why the name is Hop Notch). The flavor is comparable to many local IPAs in Vermont and is comparable to a Shed IPA or Otter Creek Hop Session. The color is a soft amber and the mouthfeel is wonderful after a few swooshes.

After trying this wonderful IPA, I am going to peruse the other beers Uinta Brewing Company has to offer. I highly recommend this IPA to any hoppy people out there. Cheers!

Can from the Lazy Dog
Pours s lightly hazy dark golden color that borders on amber with a huge fluffy whit head that persists for quite a while. Aromas of citrus and pine with some faint green onions and a solid hit of bready caramel malt to back it up. The flavor is actually quite malt forward with lots of sweet bread and rich caramel and toffee notes. Pine, resin, and a bit of green onion flavor provides a bit of balance. Firm hop bitterness. Medium body with a light to moderate level of carbonation and a sweet almost syrupy and resinous mouthfeel. My can shows a best before 1/25/14 I'm not sure when that means it was bottled, but I found this a bit malty for an IPA. Decent enough and drinkable, but I'd grab something else before this again.

I am a fan of this brewer. Very consistent and well crafted beers - all good so far.
Poured from a 12oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is clear, amber color, with a thick off-white head that fades slowly and leaves many thick laces on the glass, all the way down. 4.25

S: Like best IPAs, the aroma is juicy and fresh, and it contains fruity citrus, floral hops, caramel malts, and a bit of vegetal forest floor. Just want more of it… 4

T: Starts citrus sweet followed by a burst of grassy hops bitterness that lands in jammy and caramel sweetness. Hops are juicy and dominant, and after-taste is hoppy, tingly, balanced. Great finish. 4.25

M: Crisp, smooth, medium body and carbonation, finish is tingly and rich. Great mouth feel. 4

O: Tasty, easy drinking, despite the kick, which is not overt. Up there with some of the best if you like juicy IPAs like Sculpin. 4.25
