Since this is this beers first review I start from adding a short extract from Quora that I was looking up the definition of a golden ale; 'A golden ale is going to be less hopped and more malt-forward (though typically only pale ale malts - no darker malts). You aren't going to find the hoppy bitterness of a pale ale. But, while it's "cleaner" than a pale ale - it's still an ale and not a lager so you are going to get some more earthiness and breadiness'.

L- Pours clear, quite dark gold, 1Cm white head.
S- Pretty mild, all I get are some light toasty grains.
T- Quite fresh, hoppy/dry middle with some richness coming at the end.
F- The bottle desrcibes it as a 'dry and refreshingly clean finish' and that is spot on.
O- Interesting style and one new to me: English golden ale; I might ask BA ifthey consider it worth creating a separate style-category for it, I do feel it merits it. It's from a respected brewery and is sessionable. Nice overall balance, nothing stands out of place, just make sure you chill properly before drinking, or the 'rich' facet can come over as sweetness.

Bought from M&S in London. BB: 06/2019 stamped on neck of 500ml bottle.
Lable is black and gold, featuring the profile of a black ram against a golden sky.
