This is NOT the amber Oktoberfestbier Ur-Marzen that you get stateside.
This is a pale colored oktoberfestbier.

I get a nice big dose of sweet pils malt with some notes of sugar and honey and a touch of something vegetal that's just slightly off. Alcohol pokes through here and there as well.
Smooth tasting with more delicate malt sweetness on the tongue before just enough bitterness to keep it dry in the aftertaste. You can certainly tell it's one shade stronger than the standard helles as the alcohol tingles the tongue a bit. Compared to some other pale o'fests, however, the alcohol isn't too apparent.
Very much a bigger version of the helles.

Pours a clear golden color with a very small top of head that disolves rapidly. Aroma is off malty sweetness with bready notes and some touch off citrus and honey, but the aroma is kind off weak. The taste is sweet and bready and quite good balanced. The finish is sweet but with a dry hoppy bitterness that sits well. Good lenght in the aftertaste. Medium carbonated with medium body, smooth and clean mouthfeel, goes down very easy. All in all this is tasty and refreshing oktoberfestbier. I certainly good have some more off those.

Pale yellow. Thin head.
Rich aroma of malt despite it's colour. Some honey.
Grainy, with the malt continuing through to a smooth bitterness at the end.
Sparkling effervescence on the tongue.
A satisfying brew.

From Carrefour. In Paulaner glass. Watching Breaking Bad 5x13.The very definition of drinkability. To repeat each October.

From notes taken 02/04/17:

Multi-toned dull copper, nearly golden amber where glass at its least wide, approaching ruby at thickest and least amount of light, just under head. Fine and consistent tan foamy and almost frothy head of good retention. Honey to caramel on nose, pinch of toast, decent amount of skunk at first from green bottle. As it sits awhile, I detect toffee instead. Palate is caramel and malt tart for the most part, but well-balanced between these. Finish is toasty and almost herbal, barely bitter at all. Medium-bodied I reckon but fine creamy carbonation could be masking its true nature.

P- whores in Amber copper with lots of carbonation. Has a big white fluffy head that dissipates quickly.
S- smells of nice German malts and hops.
T- Bigger hops than expected. Less malt than expected which makes very drinkable. Nice hop pop. The breadiness blends well with the malt. Hop twang in the back.
F- lots of carbonation in this medium octofest.
O- Underrated octofest.
