Clear gold with about one finger of white head that lasts about five minutes. Some splotches of lace left behind as the liquid level drops.
Smell is rich malts yeast and noble hops.
Taste is a bit hop forward and quite fine for me. Noble hops and smooth biscuity malts.
Mouthfeel is light to medium with good carbonation. Finishes lightly dry and bitter.
This is what a lager beer should taste like.

Nice yellow pour, good clarity, 1" of virgin white head. Aroma hits those nice skunky lager notes.

Highly carbonated, noble hops, skunky taste, not offputting, very light malt stuff going on here, a little bit of green apple, lime and lemon going on in the background. Substantial bitterness for style. Good, but a little expensive per bottle.

This here lager, ladies and gentlemen, is the bees' knees. I spent many years living in Germany (10+) which is where I acquired my taste for German beer. This was the first. This is a perfect example of German brewing at its best, in my not so humble opinion. The taste is first-class and although a poured glass doesn't leave a whole lotta lacing around, it suffices. The smell can come across as skunky/grassy but it's the taste that matters.

I buy this lager on a constant basis here in NY. And much to my surprise, and pleasure, I obtained a 12-pack the other day from a local distributor with a bottling stamp of 02/16. Can you say fresh?
Yessssss!!!!

Love this stuff.

Served in a Hefeweizen glass, it pours a very clear, translucid yellow with a big foamy head with excellent retention. Lots of carbonation visible in the glass.

The smell is malty sweetness, almost like honey; hints of bread, biscuity.

The taste is very clean and follows the nose. Crisp and a very slight herbal note. Soft and long finish. Nice carbonation. Very refreshing.

A good München Helles.

Fairly pedestrian lager beer, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It hits all the notes you'd expect, is clean & crisp, maybe a bit thin on the mouthfeel but that is really the only negative, outside of its anonymous taste profile.

Great beer. If I see this on tap then its a must buy. Locally I only know of 2 places that carry it on tap. I have purchased it in bottle but It seems to not do it for me.

Overall I highly recommend this one. Great starter if you arrive late and want to catch up to your friends lame-o beers lol.

Served cold from 500ml brown bottle into straight pilsner mug.

L) Light to medium bright golden colour, clear, lots and lots of bubbles, 1cm dense white head. Looks a quality lager.

S) Slightly sweet yeasty munich malt. Appetising.

T) Very clean taste, the maltiness isn't as pronounced as some other Helles and there is a bit of hop bitterness that his nearer the front of the mouth than some other Helles. I like it, it has it's own distinct taste. There is a bit of toffee malt aftertaste.

F) Pleasantly light and fizzy, there is a bit of bitterness that detracts very slightly from the refreshment.

O) Very good Helles from a big brewery; stands up well to comparison against other Helles. Will buy it again if I see it.

Poured from the tap at Otto's in Willow Grove, PA. The appearance is a clear gold color with a white head. The aroma was full of malt with some yeast. The taste matched the aroma and had a very smooth palate.

Look- straw and light golden, thin white lace retains decently throughout.
Smell- grassy with some floral tones towards the end.
Taste- very clean taste. Some malts in the taste, mineral water and light and slightly herbal hops in the finish.
Feel- very light and crisp at first, goes a little flat and the body feels a little thin towards the end.
A decent, simple and clean lager. Nothing earth shattering, however, as I drank it I wondered why my Budweiser drinking friends who complain about my "strong" beer don't drink this instead. It's much better.

Poor - from a 12oz bottle - Nice easy poor, about a finger soapy head. Head settles down quickly to a thin top lacing. Very light lacing on the sides.

Appearance - 14k gold/straw, light amber. Very clear, almost no carbonation.

Nose - Very nice. Light Bohemian pilsner barley malt; bready/biscuit. Very nice light Hallertau, floral/grass/lemon. Very balanced, very light pleasant, rounded nose.

Mouthfeel - light, a little fizzy, a little watery... easy drinking.

Taste - Very balanced German/Bavarian pils/lager. What more is there to say, nothing really. Atypical Euro/German/Bavarian Pils/Lager. Pils barley malt, Hallertau hops, well balanced; a little grain, a little grass/floral/lemon. Nice light bitterness. No sweetness really, like in a Heineken.

Finish - Very nice light lasting finish. No off flavors. Floral, sour lemon. Dry, granny smith apple crisp.

Overall - Very nice beer. I love their website, they have all the pertinent info right there. One of the oldest breweries in Europe. This is a world class beer for sure. Very nice taste and finish. But honestly, it's not much different from Heineken and when I can get Heineken for half the price; well... I'm fine with the Heiny.

Food Pairings - honestly, pretty much everything. A great dinner beer.

Bought from Liquor Collection $2.25 12 ounce. Light golden color, light mouth feel, light refreshing taste, no bitterness. This is a good beer to have when you want to drink a lot of beer because it has a clean taste and easy drinking.

Baught as Spaten München.
L: Pours clear straw with 2.5 fingers thick white head.
S: Leafy hop flavor.
T: A bit bready, with hoppy finish.
F: light bodied with excellent carbonization.
O: Good lager.

Pours crystal clear but unfortunately there is no head to speak of. Aroma of noble hops and some biscuit malt. Kind of a floral, soapy flavor with some faint cracker and roast. Moderate bitterness with a fairly sweet finish. Pretty much a staple of the style.

Wow, I am from Germany and moved to Los Angeles. I had Krombacher and Wahrsteiner, but Spaten Premium Lager really kills it.

Might be the best Lager I ever had, with a light malty taste.

A likeable helles lager when you can find it fresh enough (and hidden from light). Nice bready malt nose that truly evokes, well, bread - at times white, ever so slightly toasted, bread, at others perhaps a touch of pizza dough. Malt is similarly bready with a constant poke of lager yeast. Split as to where this stacks up with other German helles, but regardless it's worth a drink if you can find a freshy.

Look: clear gold with a finger of white head, little retention and no lacing
Smell: vaguely cereal, mineral, herbal, a bit skunky
Taste: dry cereal, mineral, mild herbal hops
Feel: light, average carbonation

Overall: I remembered liking this about 10 years ago when I tried it last, but I guess it's a testament to the american brewing scene that it just doesn't make much of an impression anymore. As a dry, drinkable lager it is acceptable, but there just isn't much to the flavor profile, dominated cereal and mineral notes.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pilsner glass. Pours with two fingers worth of white foam that dissipates into a half fingers worth within two minutes. Straw yellow in color. Plethora of bubbles with moderate lacing. Has mild aromas of spicy, bitter, and floral hops that combine with mild, buttered bread malt aromas and a hint of smoke. Initial taste is a rapid succession of hop flavors: Mild spicy hops followed by mild bitter hops preceded by slightly stronger floral hops. And that's just act one!! Up next comes the deliscious, mild buttered bread malts. All flavors persist except for floral hops, which grow a little stronger. A hint of smokey flavor manages to sneak in to the aftertaste. Medium bodied, too carbonated (almost burns the tongue, but not quite), with a crisp finish.

Pours clear straw yellow beer with fizzy white head, relatively weak retention. Smell is rich malty and rather sweet. Taste - mineral, malts, lack of hops even for the style. The beer seems not balanced and not carbonated as it must have been.

Pours a pale straw color gold and glinting with clarity. Thinnish white head that fell off pretty fast. Nose is mild grain, and a small whiff of dms. Textbook to style. Taste is excellent. Crisp malt. Body is tremendously light even thinnish. Carbonation livens the palate . Smooth, dry malty finish with a soft sweet hop herbal. No esters, no diacetyl.

Everything a lager should be. Crisp. Refreshing. Easy on the palate and adaptable to many different types of foods. Way more flavor and depth than any large scale macro american domestic. One of my favorites for the style. Ein prosit!

L: Clear, dark straw yellow with thin head that quickly dissipated into lacing. Light carbonation.
S: Skunk and grain.
T: Smooth, delicious grain with pleasant skunky hoppy goodness.
F: A little thinner than I like, but still very good.

Looks more or less like the other Munich pale lagers.
Smells rich and malty, with some spicy hops.
Taste is fuller with richer malts than Paulaner and Hofbrau, and is also somewhat more bitter than those two.
The best Munich helles lager easily, and cheaply, found in these parts.

This beer is very fresh judging by the date codes, maybe 6 weeks max from packaging.

I agree substantially with the last review except there is no way I would compare this to Budweiser, it is much better. It has good grainy values - no starch-like notes I associate with adjunct - and good mineral notes from the hops. Also, it has no DMS or similar smells like a lot of Euro lager has. It is on the dry and light side for helles but nothing wrong with that.

I am sure on draft unpasteurized it would be even better.

Purchased at the LCBO for just over $2.00 for a 500ml can. Served at 4deg C in a draught glass

A- Opens well and pours a tiny head that is gone in seconds. Light gold color and filtered clear

S- Not a lot of nose on this one. Some hops. Touch of malt

T- Pretty good blend. Light bodied and hoppy. Malt comes through as soon as the hops leave. These guys are good.

M- Pretty much a Bud but that is fine

O- Pretty good beer. In the pecking order this one comes in on a good level. Will choose this one over a Bud any day

Food Pairing

This nice little brew went well with..... Chinese stir fry. Lots of crispy veggies and oyster sauce.

Enjoy

Really bright, clear, somewhat goldenish color. Smell is the weak point for this because it had a very small hint of skunkiness (green bottle). Tastes very refreshing, and is incredibly smooth and easy to drink. I could seriously drink this stuff like water.
