Look - poured from a 12 oz bottle. Cloudy, with a color that resembles apple cider. moderate carbonation with little lacing.
Smell - fruity with bananas and some sweetness. nothing out of the ordinary.
Taste - as expected, slight sweetness with good wheat and banana flavor. generously carbonated and has a strong wheat flavor with additional fruitiness.
Feel - medium bodied, moderately-high carbonation, and average ABV.
Overall - a great hefeweizen, and in contention as the "Big 3" for hefes (along with Weihenstephaner and Paulaner), at least for those that are commonly available. I still like Weihenstephaner a bit more though.

From the look of it, authentic german, but when you get to taste and smell its just average, nothing in your face or memorable. Now its not bad, don't get me wrong just not the witbeir you might expect.

This used to be one of the best hefeweizens around. This use to be better than Paulaner and it was in serious competition with Weihenstephaner. Over the years I don't know what the heck happened to this beer. There is barely any hefeweizen flavor there. This beer has become so watered down and bland. There is a best by date on the bottle so I know I am not drinking an old beer that has been sitting on the shelf for too long. Who is the blame for ruining this classic hefeweizen. Is it ab/inbev fault? Who knows? All you people on this page who are going this beer scores in the A range must not be drinking the same beer that I am drinking. This is almost as bad as the Erdinger Weissbier. Cheers! C

Great head. Beautiful cloudy look. Citrusy smells. Great thick mouthfeel. Mildly sour with mild spice taste and hoppiness. Balanced with excessive banana or clove overtones.

Lovely dark golden color out of the bottle. Nice head. Very smooth flavor, and really well balanced. Not too watery, not too thick, but excellent mouthfeel. Very enjoyable to drink.

Golden, hazy body with poofy white head which, sadly, leaves no lacing.

Clove gives your tongue an aggressive high five which is followed by aggressive carbonation. Final flavors are lingering clove and apple. I really appreciate the aggressive carbonation of this; it pairs well with the flavors.

Very very good.

Probably one of my favorite Hefe's. Very smooth and mild in taste. I originally drank this while on vacation in Germany, and was very excited when a co-worker showed it to me on the shelf of a local store!

Poured into a clear plastic drinking cup resulting in a fluffy white head with a golden body and lots of small bubbles. Aroma is of toasted shredded wheat cereal. Tastes of wheat and clover honey. Mouthfeel is light and clean.

I drank the first 500ml bottle from a cup but the subsequent four 500 ml bottles were directly from the bottle. This might sound sacrilegious but I enjoyed this at a bbq party serving lamb cumin kebabs in China. The bbq was hosted by my wife's cousin who kept handing me bottles. Plus, very surprised that InBev owns this fine brewery.

Poured a golden yellow with mild head into a tulip glass. Smell of citrus, wheat and malt flow from the bell. Wheaty forward flavor profile with an orange, lemon medium carbonated body which pulls you in for more.

I've had this brew on two occasions. Once from draught at Zeitgeist in the Mission district in San Francisco. That subject was by far the best example I've had of a German Hefe to date. The latter being from a tall bottle, of recent origin..... still very satisfying and representative of what a hefe can be.... but lacked a certain mouth feel which left me wanting.

I'm not a Hefe man by any means, but this takes the cake and shines through the rest.

Poured into a weizen glass, the appearance was a burnt yellow to orange color with a nice cloudy effect strung about it's body. Sustaining two fingers worth of white foamy head that slid off at a mild pace, lace slid fairly quick in strings.
The aroma had a nice blend of banana esters, clove, sweet wheat and a tight play of some grassy hop effects.
The flavor was moderately sweet through the prior mentioned aromas and weaving in a tight semi-sweet sort of banana to wheat aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt as projected. Quick sort of semi-spicy to wheaty structured to banana finish.
Overall, pretty nice hefeweizen, even if they're owned by a bunch of assholes. Only reviewing for my "hefeweizen" stats.

Hazy light golden pour with lively effervescence keeping a steady white cap. Aroma is solid wheat malt without a lot of the typical accompanying flavors. Flavor follows very similarly. Not much complexity, but very tasty.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Pours cloudy orange with a minuscule head. Smells of wheat, little bit of citrus. Tastes of wheat with an orange, not much else. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, a tad light on the carbonation. Overall, a slightly above average beer.

A tried and true wheat that pours out milky and settles cloudy gold with nice lacing a solid fluffy head. Smell is dominated by wheat malt, not getting much banana or spice. Taste in fronted with banana and moderate clove spiceness with some soft hop bitterness in the finish. Well balanced with characteristic flavors each making their presence known. Light-medium bodied and quick down the pipe ending somewhat short of my expectations. Overall an excellent Weissbier showing.

This beer pours a very hazy golden orange color that is a bit darker than I would expect for the style. The head is huge, luscious, frothy, creamy and bright white. Retention is excellent and there are thick sticky rings of lacing left all over the glass.

Smell is a touch on the subtle side, but still quite nice. Banana and clove dominate, but there is a touch of citrus and bread hiding in the background.

Taste is the same, but the flavors pop a bit more than in the smell. Very flavorful without being too "in your face."

Feel is light and very smooth. Light carbonation makes it come across a tad watery, but this beer is super easy drinking.

Overall a very good hefeweizen. Easy drinking and perfect for summer. I would definitely take Weihenstephaner over it, but this is a more affordable option without sacrificing too much quality.

Franziskaner weizen from munchen; A slightly lighter variant, less sweet, some of the wheat, banana and citrus aromas give a fresh acid for a sunny terrace

If you like hefeweissen it does not get any better than Franziskaner and Weihenstephaner. This and Weihenstephaner are the standards to measure others by.

Appearance is hazy, straw colored. Very foamy put that didn't settle for a few minutes.
Smells immediately wheaty, banana notes, almost a slight sour at the end.
Slight banana notes on the immediate taste, classic wheat bite. Wishing the punch was just a tad stronger.
In the mouth it feels pretty mellow, doesn't stick around too long, a small amount of Bute but not too prevalent.
Over all, a great wheat beer, would definitely drink another if I didn't buy a build your own six pack.

Hazy light gold color. Huge creamy foam, excellent lacing. Aroma of bananas, cloves and bit of hay. Some low grainy-sweetness. Medium-light body, very creamy, soft carbonation, bit of yeast spiciness. Low dry finish, short lasting. Some sweetness passed from flavor to a finish. Fantastic wheat beer.

One of the best beers on the planet earth. Smooth, creamy, hints of Orange zest & Apricots layered with very faint Banana undertones. Franziskaner is an absolutely pleaseant, fragrant Weissbier with one of the frothiest presentations you'll find.

Most reviewers on this site summarize this beer very well based on what I see here. I also happen to love it & have given it an exceptional review!

Pours a medium, cloudy yellow with very persistent foam. The aroma is very upfront with bananas and wheat. Tons of sweetness, light body, and just a very distant hint of hops in the background and grapes. Plenty of carbonation to go around. Slightly more hoppy aftertaste. This beer is on the lighter side of things, but very tasty and enjoyable. Also a great reference point for a good German Hefeweizen.

Decanted into a conical pint glass; pours a hazy golden brown. Very foamy head, if poured too aggressively, otherwise solid with modest lacing. Nose mostly cloves and salt; mild tasting with hints of biscuit and juniper. Nicely medium bodied with solid effervescence throughout. I would use this as a "go to" beer for the style.

12oz bottle purchased in chicago; served in weizen glass

L: pours cloudy and orange with large, semi-thick, creamy head

S: not overly aromatic; some banana

T: balanced, mild flavors with nothing really standing out; taste on the back end is there but can't quite put my finger on it; maybe metallic as another reviewer mentioned

M: smooth and soft

O: a well rounded and quiet hefewizen without the blast of cloves and banana you sometimes get; decently sessionable and stands out to me for what it's not. would definitley seek out at times
