On tap at Brauhaus Schmitz...
Appears a transparent golden orange with a small white cap that slowly fades into a gentle cap. Spotty bits of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of sourdough bread, honey, flowers, juicy fruit gum, and mild spice.
Taste mimics the aromas. Ahhh, German beers, how I love thee. Malt and signature yeast really make these kind of beers unique and delicious in their on way.
Mouthfeel is full of malt, medium bodied, slightly spritzy, sweet up front leading to a mildly sour but addictive aftertaste.

clear golden tan in color. 1/4" of white foam subsides rather quickly and is gone for good. big malty aroma that protrays a complex fruitiness. well carbonated, quite refreshing while still remaining somewhat full and chewy. sweet passionfruit flavors and a touch of graininess. signature noble german hop flavor at the end keeps this beer in balance. tasty and quite drinkable. i don't see this around too much, but i would grab one when i could. good stuff.

Had this on tap. What a treat. One of the most beautiful beers I have laid my eyes upon. Invitingly golden in color. Great head. Smell of subdued malts. Tasting this on tap is a treat. Smooth is an understatement. Great clean malt taste. Hops only seem to be around for balance as they contribute little to the taste. If you look up "nectar of the gods" in the dictionary, surely a picture of this will be present.

Found this on tap yesterday (24APR05) at Sunset Grille, and Alewife and I partook quite readily.... Color was a light golden, yellowish color, clear, with steady carbonation. Head was white and meringue-ish, with decent lacing. Aroma was bready, big-time. Real nice! Body and feel on the tongue were mid-range....nice feel overall. Flavor is also major-league bready. I love it! Great malt....nice, light sweetness from the malt...subtle hops finish things up.... Tasty brew! Quaffs easily!!
Prosit!!

Original review from 06JUL02: Hmmmm....Spaten Maibock vom Fass? Let's go! Poured an attractive medium-golden color, but displayed little lace and/or head. Some nice sweet, mild malt showing through. Well-received on the tongue as far as mouthfeel goes. Tasty, semi-sweet, malty flavor! I must have this again, to give it a proper evaluation, and especially since this was the last bier of the night, and not fully appreciated! (3.5/3.5/4.0/4.0/4.0 - 3.80)
