The beer is a clear dark copper color with a very thin white head and some carbonation. Lots of malts in the aroma with a slight sweetness and a very light hop aroma. The beer is well balanced and crisp. A little sweet on the front with a nice bitterness on the end but over all flavors seem very mild. The beer is light easy and crisp.

Another beer I tried when living in Milwaukee. Koppa's Polish Grocer across the street, boom.

Pours an amber and caramel color, solid 3/4" off white head on top. Aroma of mild burnt sugar, smells like fall. Tastes like fall, lower carbonation, lets the rich maltiness pair with that minimal sweetness. I mean, if you're going into Oktoberfest land, this is pretty much what you're going for I imagine. Bitterness tempered appropriately. A little bit of toffee to go along with the caramel. Not overly viscous. Nuttiness. Almonds. Clean, well made, no flaws. Not my cup of tea, but would still bang again given a mild fall evening.

I got this because my go-to German beer was not available. In respect to the German tradition, I poured this into a large German dimpled beer mug.

Appearance - Very beautiful hearty look to it, with a dark amber color. Even the bottles are dressed up nicely.

Smell - A subtle smell, but I was able to get a sweet cracker maltiness with a slight hint of grass.

Taste - Very well-balanced between sweet and bitter. You can't taste the alcohol.

Mouthfeel - Very thick and creamy; one you will have to take your time on.

Overall - Usually, the beers that I encounter do not have a well-balanced taste to them. This was a very decent beer, and I wish I could experience it on tap.

From notes taken 02/02/17:

Multi-toned dull copper, nearly golden amber where glass at its least wide, approaching ruby at thickest and least amount of light, just under head. Fine and consistent tan foamy and almost frothy head of good retention. Honey to caramel on nose, pinch of toast, decent amount of skunk at first from green bottle. As it sits awhile, I detect toffee instead. Palate is caramel and malt tart for the most part, but well-balanced between these. Finish is toasty and almost herbal, barely bitter at all. Medium-bodied I reckon but fine creamy carbonation could be masking its true nature.

Given the color, not surprising it falls on the sweeter side of the Oktoberfest spectrum, which isn't necessarily my cup of tea, but it's all done well, sweet bready notes, perhaps just the slightest bit thin/unrich, but nothing you'd be sad to drink a half liter of.

Pours a dark gold with foamy head, subtle scent, I smell pretzel, smooth taste and feel going down. I need to drink this in a German beer hall. Good stuff.

Taste: Robust malt, semi sweet, smooth, some floral hop notes. Complex nose with hops and nutty malt sweet nose. Deep Amber/Gold color, clear with a nice foam head and average lace. Medium, almost full body. On tap beats in bottle any day.

I am jumping right into this bottle, part of a recent drop-off from my local, in-person trader, tone77. It is too late for the #OktoberfestChallenge2016, but never too late for a review.

A Pop! of the cap to get things started & I was off and running. A heavy-handed pour caused three fingers of dense, foamy, tawny head to rush to the top of the glass before starting to slowly fall back. Color was Amber to Deep Amber/Light Copper (SRM = > 9, < 13) with NE-plus quality clarity. I could see into the future with this one! Nose had a grassy, earthy scent, the kind that I like in the style as they can be quite malty. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste had a nutty, bready, caramelized flavor, not at all bitter, but not overly sweet, either. It was definitely malt-driven, but that was fine by me, not unexpected and certainly in keeping with the style. Finish was in that realm between semi-sweet & semi-dry, but a very pleasant drink in total.
