Bottle, looks like June date:
Pours a clear amber that leans a bit towards a brown ale. The head is off-white foamy and looks almost creamy as it falls to a ocean foam. This impression reveals itself again in the feel, as it's fairly smooth for it's light, malty sweetness.

Nose and taste both have toasted bread and apple butter-like notes. The malt outweighs the countering bitterness that seems to balance with earthy notes and then hit with a little spice on high. The beer isn't too sweet, even if it leans a little than direction with hints of fig.

A decent offering that does take some time to get here, apparently, and is in green. I didn't notice any off notes, but this is a simple malty-leaning dark amber brew that is nice to have every once in a while.

Has a crisp, zesty taste and mouthfeel. Kind of reminds me of a hefeweizen, only without any of the banana-esque flavors I tend to get from that style. Also reminds me of some pilsners I've had. Somewhat sweet. Quite easy drinking.

12 ounce bottle poured into a pint glass

A: Pours a rusty, copper orange with a off white head, no retention, slight lacing, good amount of carbonation streaming up the middle.

A: Caramel, toffe, slight honey, spice, lightly toasted bread, nice balanced aromas.

T: Heavy notes of caramel, toffee, and toasted malts, spice, light notes of honey and wet hay, slight skunk as well, finish is dry with nutty and toasted malts.

M: Full bodied, it's the heaviest mouthfeel I've tasted on this style, dry finish with a good amount of carbonation.

O: This is the heaviest, full bodied Oktoberfest beer I've tasted, heavy, bold flavors, I could honestly only have a few of these at a sitting, it really is like liquid bread.

Look: Deep amber, mostly transparent. White head and lacing sticks nicely to the glass. Best part of this beer.

Smell: A little bready malt but quickly goes over to cornlike adjunct aroma that reminds me of Budweiser. Really kinda a let down.

Taste: Medium malty sweetness upfront that goes to a slightly bitter and perhaps even astringent finish. The finish really detracts from what could be a smooth fest bier. I think this beer would benefit from a choice of hops with a softer profile.

Feel: Carb is soft and inviting but the body is somewhat watery. This is probably the second strongest point of the beer as it allows for easy consumption.

Overall: I'm not going to buy this beer again. I only bought two singles and I'm not enthused about downing the second... will probably save it for a time I'm buzzed and care less. Eh.

12oz green bottle bb May 2018 poured into a.5L krug at fridge temp 5.9% ABV. The beer pours bright dark honey amber in color with light khaki head. The head recedes slowly to a thin ring and some islands with spotty lacing. The aroma is mildly sweet toasted bread. The taste is full soft toasted bread with only a hint of sweetness. The finish quickly removes those flavors with a dry counterpoint bitterness that is appropriate and tasty. Mouthfeel is medium to thin bodied, well carbonated and dry in the finish. Overall, excellent Marzen. This is exactly what I look for in an Oktoberfest. Big soft bready initial flavor that transforms into a pleasant nuetral drying finish. Recommended, just watch for bottles sitting in the open light!

If you are a fan of October beers and you want one that has all the right flavor and all the right texture and be exactly the way an October Beer should be, this is the one to buy. It's nearly perfection.

A crystal clear caramel in color, with a finger of white foam that lingers a while. Not much for lacing down the glass. The aroma is a bit skunky, I noticed that right when I cracked it open. Poured into a glass that subsides a bit, and I get the grain and grassy smell that you might expect. It also has bready, and toasted sunflower seed notes. The flavor has a bit of caramel malt, and the grassy quality, and again, lightly toasted sun seeds. The feel is medium thin, full carbonation, and fairly dry. Once the sulfur goes away, it's not a bad tasting brew, glad I tried it, but, too many better brands out there to go back for 2nd's.

Dark amber color. Toasty, biscuit character, brown sugar notes, and an earthy hop finish.

Spaten Oktoberfest 12 oz bottle dated 06.2017 (not exactly Ur-Märzen, huh?). Served in a pint glass beer is brilliant red copper and forms reasonable tan head. Clean and clear. Gentle malty aroma of the lightly kilned Munich malt. Flavor is sweet but balanced, and puts the Bavarian style grain profile right in the center, and doesn't distract with hops or booze. Carbonation is lighter than I might imagine. This beer is simultaneously robust and delicate. It's a great execution of a tricky style which is worthy of consideration along side any of the classic English Ales. 5.9%, but drinks like 3.9%! I could definitely consume a couple Maßes of this and get good and blau, and enjoy every drop.

Pours a clear, dark amber with about a finger of white fluffy head that fades to a ring and a little lacing. Smell is very faint, a little bit of malt to it. Taste is tea, biscuit, and strong malt flavors with a bit of a herbal note towards the finish. A little bitterness throughout. Light body. Pretty solid beer, tasty but not quite to the top tier. Seriously misses out with aroma.

There is something about having this beer in a 36oz mug at an oktoberfest that is unforgettable, i have had other oktoberfest beers on tap but this is by far the best. Not a big fan of the bottle version but this on the right tap is truly amazing.

Poured from bottle to nonic pint glass. Liquid is copper in color and clear. A finger of foam is present, then gone. No lacing. Aroma is vegetal, skunky, followed by biscuit and herbal tea. Grainy flavor is up first, with a nice herbal and caramel wash. Tea-like drying finish.

Poured a copper brown with frothy 2 finger cream colored head. Moderate lacing was present. Faint nose with herbal hops and sweet malt. Big malt flavor up front with tea, bread crust and a slight hoppiness on the end. Medium - light body. A bit thinner than I expected with light carbonation. Overall, not a bad Oktoberfest beer.

This one out in my blind taste test amongst several German and American Oktoberfest beers. Beautiful dark Amber color with a big bubbled head which dissipates sooner than you'd like. Very faint nose (very clean) which could be the weakest part of this beer. The taste is outstanding, big malt, tea digestive biscuits, faint caramel notes. Fantastic Oktoberfest beer. I'll have a boot of this please.
