L: Clear, bubbly amber with a thin beige head. Minimal retention and lacing.

S: Grassy, toffee, cashews, brown bread, caramel, earth, mineraly. Slightly skunked, perhaps.

T: Caramel, toffee, toast, nuttiness, grass; clean, crisp lager finish, with a metallic and grassy aftertaste, but subtle, balanced, and clean.

M: Medium-light, snappy carbonation.

O: An okay lager. Should not come in green bottles, though.

Poured from a 12 oz green long-neck into a pint. A clear deep amber beer topped by a fluffy 3-finger tall off-white head, that falls into a film. Light, spotty lacing.

Aromas bring notes of biscuit, sweet caramel malt, and hints of spicy, grassy noble hops.

Flavors are classic marzen- toffee and lightly toasted biscuit malts right at first, hints of yeast bread, with floral, spicy hops coming in soon after. The finish is fairly short, drying, with light grassy, mineral-y bitterness.

Mouth-feel is medium-light, crisp, with brisk carbonation. Refreshing, easy-drinking. There's just a touch of alcohol noticeable at 5.9% ABV

Spaten's Oktoberfest ticks all the boxes you'd need for a prototype Marzen/fest-bier. You can find better (though where I'm located proper German representatives of the style seem to be rare birds...) but this one certainly won't do you wrong. It's not hugely complex, but it's just substantial enough while being a quencher to work as the days just start to get shorter. Really do wish this came in brown glass, though- while my specimens certainly haven't been skunked, I do wonder if the beer suffers just a bit for the packaging. Still, these were quite enjoyable.

This Oktoberfest is rather incomplete tasting, quite watered down. It has a poor smell as well. I would like to enjoy the nutty notes and the malty points, but there are many better Oktoberfest-style beers out there.

Nice color. Solid, clear caramel color with what turns into a fairly thin head and virtually no lacing.

Nose has few moving parts as the three dominant tones are noble hops, biscuity malt and some corn presence.

Taste follows along with the nose, as I'm immediately enjoying that noble thing, but the taste also brings with it a sweet caramel backbone.

Finish is a little sweet for this medium bodied beer.

Good not great. As some have noted it seems flat and creamy. There are better options; this left me a bit disappointed.
