Poured from a 12 oz into a weizen glass on 01.21.14.

A: Cloudy yeast at top. See through orange at bottom. 2 finger head.

S: Wheat, citrus. Orange.

T: Wheat, very light cloves from yeast.

M: Crisp, which is weird for a hef. More watery than I like.

O: This was pretty bland tasting. There was a tiny bit of sweet clove on the back end that helped a little to break the monotony of the watery mouthfeel. It was easy to drink and refreshing at least. Wondering why this was so bland, and suspicious of the lightweight and see through bottle, I found that this is owned by AB-InBev. Yep, I'm a newbie.

A: yellow colour, nice thick head

S: banana, orange and clove

T: same as the smell basically; really sweet with a peppery note

M: creamy, almost no carbonation, hardly any alcohol

O: This really is not my cup of tea, too sweet, too flat. but probably a good session beer if you like it

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Thank you to my brother for bringing this one back from Germany for me.

Appearance: Clear yellow with a thick white head. Mild lacing on the glass.

Smell: Strong smell of cloves and grassy notes.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Very smooth light bodied. Taste of cloves, wheat and mild hops.

Overall: Not a bad Hefeweizen. I would have loved to have actually had this in Germany, but getting right from Germany will do!

From a bottle. Warning, I find this style drinkable and moderately refreshing but rarely notably enjoyable.
Very large and durable white head over a slightly hazy Amber body.
Light body with near medium carbonation that's softer than expected.
Moderate banana and lightly spicy.

Real thick head on this hazy yellow beer. Head takes forever to die down. Super retention. Aroma is to be expected, wheat, banana, clove.

Taste, lots of banana, clove and bandaid phenols. Base of wheat % stays on your teeth, never heavy though. Grapefruit here although not hop derived.

Pretty traditional hefe product here.

Color = darker than average.
Smell = refreshing - lightly yeastie.
Taste = "thickish"
Feel = fuller than the average Hefeweizen - which is a good thing...in the Winter.
After taste = smooth and not a harsh bite.

Thin head, disappeared quickly. Light scent of banana. Surprisingly smooth for a hefe. Taste is primarily of banana, fruit, and a touch of vanilla. Light carbonation, very drinkable.

Overall milder than I was expecting, but surprisingly smooth.

Yellow beer, hazy, thick off white head that really holds its own in the retention category. Lacing category is just average. Aroma is a familiar yeast of hefeweizen proportions: banana, mild clove and spice accoutrement.

Taste, more banana, mild bandaid with pepper cloves. Mild wheat and barley malt base, nothing heavy. A little gritty on the teeth. Heavy amount of carbonation throughout the entire lifespan of the beer. Bready but not doughy. Residual sweetness, but not cloying. Citrus seems to be around it, some grapefruit and banana seem to be the most noticeable fruit like flavors.

Wheat character is not lost on the beer, keeps the mouthfeel like, has the stickyness along with the yeast on the teeth. Has enough yeasty esters and banana to keep traditionalists happy. I'm good for about 4-6oz of this, but after that, its just too much of why I'm not big on hefeweizens: bananas, yeast and clove are best in small quantities.

This was a random pick up at Bevmo. This was a low point price point compared to other pint bottled beers it was about $2.99 I believe. Im actually surprised the beer is a good drink it has a citrus flavor and medium to full body. I should have never doubted the Germans. My only thing I'm not to happy about is I get alot of carbonation with every drink, from a glass may be different.

Quite a lot of carbonation. Typical wheat beer with lemon and grapefruit undertones and a minuscule ammoniacal nose feel. A touch metallic in taste, leaving a friction on the tongue. These flavours linger well after drinking. My opinion is that this beer is better with food than on its own. Pairs very well with fish.

Poured into a weizen glass. The pour left a thick, creamy white head that dissipated slowly, leaving some lacing. Color and clarity was typical of the style, somewhat cloudy and orange-yellow. I detected the faintest hint of clove, but mostly some orang-ish citrus although overall this beer did not have a strong nose.

I picked this six pack up on the way home from the golf course, and I was hot and thirsty, a great time for a weisbier. This one did not disappoint. It was very refershing, with good carbonation but not fizzy, and a smooth, slightly citrus flavor. Would have been nice to have a little more spice character, which I really enjoy in a wheat beer, but still, this is a good brew. I would buy it again.

Opaque golden-orange color. Weak lacing, slides right back into the glass. Little head. Highly carbonated; even spritzy. Strong banana and orange flavors, biscuits. Sweet. Light mouthfeel, but a little creamy as well. Zero booziness.

Overall: This is definitely a sessionable beer. Very easy to gulp. Non-offensive for sure. The flavors are pretty straight forward: banana, orange and biscuits. Nothing too complex. Not enough backbone or bold flavors. I would say this is an average to slightly above average brew.

A - cloudy gold, giant white 3 finger head, long retention

S - banana, spice that is not necessarily clove, but close I guess. tiny bit of bubblegum.

T - 2 notes 1) That classic, yeasty banana hefeweizen taste, white/wheat bread, with 2) a touch of gross processed sweet bubblegum. makes it too sweet for the style. 3.25 on taste.

M - light, almost crisp, a little sticky sweet, strong refreshing carbonation.

Overall, disappointed in the taste. Surprised by that fake sweet bubblegum stuff.

imperial pint shaerd with my gf, poured into a taster glass. lot number marked but no date.

a - pours a hazy, golden shade with a finger and a half of dense, off white foam. head retention is good, calming slowly to a thin cap and leaving thin leggy lacing in the glass.

s - banana, nutmeg, faint grain.

t - pronounced spiciness with a light, crisp wheat base. faint notes of orange and lemon with a mild, earthy bitterness. well balanced.

m - lighter in body with adequate carbonation. coarser co2 profile, but smoother than their dunkel.

o - not great, but i enjoyed this much more than their dunkel. drinks easy on a lazy summer afternoon after getting out of work. would buy it again.

Smell: orange peel. Wheat.
Taste: wheat. Orange peel. Clove (light). Essence of banana.

Poured from 500ml bottle with freshness date nine months away. This is cloudy golden beer with a decent head. The nose is strong and dominated by banana. It's a little chalky with a hint of pineapple.

This is quite well carbonated and begins quite sweetly before a hit of banana and then a rather earthy, bready spell before a return to a more muted banana in the aftertaste. Hefeweizens are something of an acquired taste for me (it took me a decade to grudgingly accept them) but this seems immediately attractive from the aroma and the first sip. There's certainly nothing to complain about.

Appearance: Very thick, foamy head. Has a cloudy, golden color when poured. When poured, the carbonation is visible. Has a very intriguing and beautiful appearance.

Smell: Has notes of mild banana, wheat, and yeast. The yeasty notes I would describe as being earthy and some clove spices. There were some citrus notes although they were not as noticeable as the other aromas.

Taste:I enjoyed how the flavor of this beer followed closely to its aroma. It had notes of banana and clove spices. There were also obvious wheat and citrus flavors that added more depth to the beer's flavor. It was however a little too sour for my personal taste. Overall, the flavors (despite the sourness) were well balanced.

Mouthfeel: You could both see and feel the carbonation of the beer, which added to the crispiness of the beer. Besides carbonation, the beer was very light and refreshing.

Overall, the flavors in this beer were delicious and combined together to create a very refreshing beer. Although I found the banana flavor to add some tartness and sourness, the wheat, clove spices, and citrus helped balance the beer. I would recommend this beer!

Poured from a 1pt .9 fl oz bottle into a weizen glass. Reviewed live.

A- Poured a ridiculous 6-inch head. Wispy and foamy. Subtle lacing. Pale yellow body with middling clarity.

S- Grassy, light yeasts, banana, clove, bubblegum. Grassier than I was expecting. Light, summery and sweet.

T- Banana is heavy, very sweet. Yeasty esters. Not superb, but good.

M- Light but acrid feel. Finishes wet.

O- I was much more impressed with other beers from Franziskaner. Not bad, but not the caliber I was expecting.

Summer refresher. I am not a big weiss beer fan. Love it when in Europe.

A: Yellow-cider colored beer, hazy, very energetic, thick, white head that sticks, laces and lasts.

S: Aroma as expected of abundant yeast of hefe-weizen style: banana, clove, hay, and spice.
Could be more complex and stronger.

T: Follows smell, too much of banana and as a reviewer wrote : "bandaid with pepper" Exactly.
Gritty on the teeth. Bready, sweet, buttery breakfast rolls. Buttery texture and taste. A bit much, complex, interesting, but too sticky in the mouth for me. No real bitter character, little hops.

MF: Too sticky on teeth. ("Im good for 6 oz of this") As 1 reviewer wrote, and I agree.

Good mass weiss, run of the mill beer.

Poured from bottle into pint glass. Nice looking beer with lively 2+ finger head. Deep golden with a tiny bit of amber. Clouded and murky. Smell was a bit dull. Typical fruits and malts for the style. Picked up more apricots than anything. Taste followed the nose with a nice refreshing hit of the fruits (apricots, citrus, and a bit of spices). Not an overpowering taste, but adequate. A bit too tart was a distraction. Minimal hop hit. Feel was nice and carbed with a medium body and some dry aspects. Overall- A nice German Hefe with classic characteristics and an easy drinker. A bit on the tart end IMO which puts it in the middle of the pack. A good sipper on a fall football night. Would have another and it's worth the try-

Appearance- Golden with an amber streak through the middle. Pours a one finger creamy white head.

Aroma- Subtle smells of wheat and sweetness.

Taste- Muted and bland as a whole. Some banana, some orange, slight peppery yeast, and mild wheat flavors. Nothing really jumps out in this beer.

Feel- A crisp snap from the yeast. Pleasant to drink with an overall creamy/smooth texture.

Overall- Maybe age has effected this, i'm not sure, but the flavors are muted compared to other german hefes that I've had. Still a solid beer that I'll give another chance just to make sure this is an accurate assessment, so I recommend trying it just for the sake of comparison to other hefe's if anything. (80/100)

A-Poured a golden-yellow that shifted in color from top to bottom with a large thick and resiliant foam head

A- Fruity, spicy, grainy, banana

T- Similar to aroma, more banana, very low hop presence, slight tartness on both sides of tongue

M-Crisp, refreshing, very smooth and velvety finish

Good beer. Really makes me crave banana nut bread to eat with it.

This hefeweizen pours a golden color with a large head with excellent retention. The smell is all about the wheat and some citrus. Flavors of wheat, yeast, and some coriander and banana are muted, and you won't taste much more than the wheat unless the beer has warmed up a bit. The taste is pleasant, but this could be described as a delicate beer, as they don't hit you as strongly as in my hefeweizens, and it may because the wheat flavor is so strong that some of the ingredients are concealed. Spice is minimal. This is a creamy beer, and its thickness is a bit unusual for the style. There's some crispness there as well, but overall the mouthfeel just doesn't quite work for me, although many who generally avoid wheat ales may find the mouthfeel quite nice.

Appearance: very hazy, big fluffy white head, golden yellow with orange tint

Aroma: lemony citrus, banana, clove, light summery aroma,

Taste: balanced flavor, banana and subtle clove taste, with a malt backbone that really stands up without being overly heavy,

Mouthfeel: a little prickly but with a smooth finish, light-medium body

Overall Impression: A refreshingly light German hefe that is very well balanced and smooth to the swallow. Residual tingles remain in mouth beckoning for another swig.

Heavily unfiltered caramel appearance. Complex aroma including hints of smoke, banana, and some acidity. Full flavored with a slight bitterness. Moderately carbonated, more so than Paulaner's for example. Overall we feel this beer isn't quite as well rounded as it tries to be.

P.S. You might need a cheesecloth.
