I loved Franziskaner HefeWeisse, so I thought I'd give this one a shot. I was greatly disappointed.
A: Big beige head over hazy brown. Held up to the light, the orange really comes out. A good amount of sediment. Average retention and no lacing to speak of.
S: Surprisingly dry and biscuity malt characteristic. Banana and clove are faint, as is the citrus.
T: Dry malt dominance. One other thing really coming out is the diacetyl butter notes, which is unfortunate. A little tangy. I'm getting barely any wheat and the malt characteristic is certainly not what I expected.
M: Light body, low carbonation bordering on flat.
D: This beer tastes like an old, infected brown ale. I'm really disappointed here, but will give it another shot and re-review in the event that I got a bad bottle.

I bought a 500 ml bottle at a Lidl store in Portugal. Poured it into a pils glass, causing a 2 inch head that settled to 1 inch foam. Warm, fresh aroma. Taste is a little disappointing — a little but of caramel and yeast. Not very interesting. The mouthfeel was promising at first, but it was followed by a bland aftertaste. Was expecting more from a monastery logo ale. Tastes more like mass-market output.

500ml bottle, 5,0%ABV, poured in a Weissenglass at around 6 celcius.
Colour , rusty brown to with a 2-3 finger head, dense white foam.
Light carbonation, creamy lacing.
Smell: not very strong, some burnt nuts and sweet caramel.
Mouthfeel: Very smouth and creamy, smell tingle of carbonation
Taste: soft notes of nut and burnt bread, not too yeasty, nice not too sweet caramel development, with a lovely note of almost dark choclate like bitterness in the aftertaste.
Very pleasant beer, easy to drink.

enjoyed at pony bar, hamburg, this is one i’ve wanted to try for a long time, quite a nice dunkelweizen, nice rich malty flavour mixed with the wheaty estery flavours, on the sweeter side, drinkable, pretty good

00ml. bottle in Mae Kasa, Thailand. Pours a cloudy red/brown with a reddish white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of roasted malt, dark fruits. Tastes very roasty, malty, biscuity. Medium carbonation that settles. A pleasant but prickly mouthfeel. A good, solid, well-balanced Dunkel.

On tap at Spaten an Der Oper in Munich. Billed as ‘’dark wheat’’ on the English menu.
