Poured into an Elysian Brewing pint glass. No freshness date.

A- Pours a crystal clear light golden color with a super fizzy 1/2 inch head that immediately dies away to absolute zero surface foam. Lacing is nonexistent.

S- Slightly sweet aroma of stale bread and a kiss of alcohol.

T- Nearly flavorless save for some husky grain-like flavor probably from adjuncts like corn or rice plus a slight tinge of alcohol.

M- Pretty much just water as far as the consistency goes. Barely any carbonation either, resulting in a lame, lifeless feel.

O- Wow. I figured, out of all in the variety sixer I got, this would only be enjoyable to drink in order to quench my thirst after an intense workout but it's not even accomplishing that for me. This is not what beer is supposed to be like. It's like they didn't even try.

Popping the top it's a bit of adjunct smell. Pours to a bright yellow with wispy white head that disappears in an instant. Taste has a bit of grape and yeast but fades to a weak grape. Mouthfeel is very carbonated, apparently carrying the lack of backbone. Not a keeper.

12 oz bottle. Pours golden hue with a small, short-lived, white head and soda like carbonation. Nose reminded me of Belgium Sour Red in the beginning then hints of grassy hops and some malt appeared. Light, very crisp body. Taste is of light hops and sweet malt. I would recommend this brew to my macro-drinking friends.

Bottle poured into glass leaves a small white bubbly head that quickly dissapears to leave a small ring of bubbles around edge and almost no lacing. Perfectly clear straw/yellow in color. Does not have a remarkable, but not bad aroma, smells like "light beer".

The flavor adds a little more than the taste. At first the taste is "light beer" but then you first get a hint of grapes, then husk and grains. Has a crisp grape/grain taste that lingers in mouth. Light body with high carbonation.

This beer is better than Major Brand X Lite, but not by a lot.

Thanks to armock for this.

Pours light straw yellow - very light - white a thin white head that has brief retention before becoming a patch, then disappears. It has some trailing lace at first, but leaves a clean glass.

The smell is of light cereal, lighter than some macros. Very faint hops, if at all.

There is a touch of grainy sweetness with a slight touch of non-descript washed-out hop presence, enough to give it a dry finish. There is a touch of salt. It's pretty much bland and fairly tasteless, though nothing particularly "off".

The feel is seltzery and prickly, though not more than most macros, maybe a hair less. It is thin. Crisp, if nothing else.

This could be mixed in with a typical American macro lager, as it's on that level.

Poured a 12oz bottle into a pilsner glass.

A: Straw yellow with a fluffy white head that quickly dissipates.

S: Not much going on here; sweet malts are there faintly.

T: Biscuity malts typical to Shiner, but muted here. Mild hop presence and sweetness in the background.

M: Nice, crisp, and & light-bodied as expected. Goes down smoothly. Carbonation matches perfectly with style.

O: Exactly as advertised: really light and refreshing. Would take this over a BMC light/lite any hot Texas day. I think I'll pass on the Light Blonde that just came out, though. This one's light enough, already.

Reviewed 1/14/2006 (12oz bottle):

Pours a light golden yellow color body, with virtually no head, white. Has a slightly skunky malty aroma. A very light skunky taste. Fizzy malty taste, fresh tasting, slightly dusty palate, not too complex of a flavor.

Wow. This is like drinking water. I seldom drink these, but once in a while I need some water. It kind of reminds me of a Rolling Rock without the nice smell. This might be better warm (Rolling Rock is best at room temp or WARMER!).

There is very little character to this, like most beers this style. But it is well brewed - pure, clean, crisp, refreshing. Drink a bunch and you will be fine but you will need to pee!

A: Very light with a 2 finger puffy white head. Little lacing as the head dissipates quickly.

S: Malty with very little hop character. Sweet also.

T: The same as the smell. Very malty and sweet but not a strong flavor profile. Not watery but lacking in flavor. Very smooth and clean.

This is an middle of the road beer. Beings as it lacks real flavor I would not keep it on hand or buy it again for that fact for myself. However the beer coming from Spoetzl is cheaper than some crafts and quite a bit better than macros. In having to bring beer to a BBQ this would be a good choice, and considering some of MY friends don't drink craft and would likely bring a BMC. Being 4.4%, and smooth this beer is a great sessioner for such get-togethers. Good beer Spoetzl Brewery.

Enjoyed as part of the Shiner Family Reunion 6-Pack

This is not a style I normally enjoy, so I'm pleasantly surprised that I did enjoy this beer.

Slight grainy aroma. Pours a bright golden straw colored liquid with a very even white head. Settles into a perfect clear liquid with a stead number of bubbles but almost no head.

Flavor isn't bad. Lots of crisp grain. Reminds me a little of a slatine cracker. A little bit of hops. Dry aftertaste.

Light-to-Medium mouthfeel is perfect for this beer. Just the right amount of carbonation.

On the negative, this beer is one that is best drunk cold. Better beers get better as they warm a little bit. This one does not.

Overall, I liked it. I didn't expect to like it, but I did.

Pours a perfectly clear medium yellow color with a fairly small white head that fades a shade slower than most macros.

The nose is comprised of pale malt graininess and a very faint grassy hop aroma. Nothing offensive here at all, but nothing especially noteworthy either.

The flavor is extremely light and unsubstantial. A few hints of light malt are about the only things I can taste. It has less flavor than the Shiner Light. It is crisp, smooth and refreshing. Absolutely no off flavors are present, it's a well crafted beer...but the lack of body and flavor are disappointing.

Pulled a 12 FL. OZ. bottle out of a Spoetzl Mix Pack I bought @ Shop N' Save in Valley Park, MO for $15.99. Poured from the Bright blue bottle with no Freshness Date into my 0,47l New Belgium Oversized Snifter Glass.

Aroma- Very light aroma with tons of malt and sweetness behind it. No hops are evident and not too sure if I'm more upset about this or that the aroma is not happening in this brew...

Appearance- Pours a 1 finger head that has weak retention. Has a crystal clear body that has tons of bubbles within. Leaves no lacing behind.

Flavor- Starts very sweet and then has a ton of malt character behind it. No hop taste once again and therefore no bitterness either. Very dry finish.

Mouthfeel- Light Bodied, Medium Carbonation, Smooth, and thats it. Nothing else, just finishes the drink there, almost like water on the palate.

Overall Impression- Very easy to drink but would probably sway to other Blonde Ales available. Nothing against you guys Spoetzl but this just wasn't a huge hit for me. Ill stick to all the other brews in the line up.
