It has a tinted gold look to it, which is nice for a light beer.

The aroma is vague and distant. Corn, cereal grain, honey.

It has a sweet maltiness to it with a comfortable light flavor. Overall though, I can't taste much at all from this. Prickly hops try to come around in the finish.

It's clean with good carbonation but i'm going to have to take the calories over this. Bland.

Poured bottle into pint glass.

Appearance: A clear, dark gold color with a very small head.

Smell: A slight malt aroma, but not much.

Taste: Had a modestly strong flavor for the style with a decent bitter kick. On the whole, however, fairly bland.

Mouthfeel: Pretty thin and watery.

Drinkability: Not too impressed. I wouldn't get this again.

This beer came in a variety 6 pack of Shiner and I wish they would put something better. This beer is very bland and boring. I poured it out and it was a light yellow color with a medium head. The smell is of malt and some wheat. The taste is pretty watery to me. It has a little bit of malt and thats really it. The mouthfeel is pretty average. It is pretty crisp and a bot of carbonation. Overall this beer is not that good. I do not really care for light beers and this didnt help change my views.

Served in a bottle poured in a pint glass.

A- Clear yellow macro coloring with a little bit of head.

S- Has sort of a malty scent to it, but for the most part it does smell like your typical macro miller/bud beer.

T- Very watery and very bland. Again this is a very macro like beer.

M- Smooth beer, not very bitter at all. Well carbonated.

D- Not much of a taste, but it is very smooth.

Overall this is pretty much a macro like beer from a micro brewery in an attempt to draw in drinkers of macro beers. Not a great beer, but I guess it does what it was intended to do.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass. No dating info but I know it's fresh. It was a light bronze color - clear. Carb fountain in center but no lacing. It had an average sized fizzy white head that quickly settled into a barely there collar.

The aroma was very faint. Malty and grassy and bland. Taste was also barely there and bland. Starts out weak and never picks up. I'd rather have a Miller Lite over this one.

Overall, weak in aroma and flavor. Rather have a BMC. Don't recommend. One and done.

Appearance: A crystal-clear, golden-amber body with a finger of white head that fizzes out quickly and leaves no lacing. Much darker than the typical American light beer.

Aroma: A thin, grainy malt body with not much in the way of hops. Pretty bland.

Taste: Much the same as the aroma. A thin and watery malt body that's frankly boring as hell. A little more lively than most light beers, but no revelation. The aftertaste is grainy and short lived.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light bodied with good carbonation. Dries a bit in the finish.

Drinkability: All that's holding you back is the general blandness of it all.

Verdict: This is still a step, albeit not a massive one, up from Bud/Miller/Coors Light. Despite being pretty bland and boring, I still think this beer still serves it's purpose. Texans used to the normal light beers aren't going to be scared off by this, and hopefully they'll start exploring the rest of the Shiner line and beyond.

Pours ½ finger of white head. Has active carbonation on class. Color is a clear golden yellow.

Aroma: Grains, corns, grassy hops. Fairly basic.

Taste: Bland, grassy hops, corn, and grains. Pretty much mimics the nose. Simple.

Mouthfeel: Crisp and a bit creamy. Light bodied with a medium to high amount of carbonation. Ends dry and bland.

Overall, a typical lager. Very macro like. Nothing out of the ordinary here. Easy drinking on a hot summer day but that's about it.

Reviewed 3/5/2009 (bottle):

Pours a small whitish colored head, very quickly diminishing. Light amber colored body, fizzy, very clear. Somewhat nutty, very malty, pilsenery aroma. Light aroma, typical aroma of a light lager, not very appealing. Nutty taste, nutty carbonated aftertaste. Light mouthfeel, somewhat creamy body. Pretty clean aftertaste. Has that acidic taste, I find often in lagers. Might be more refreshing after a long hot activity.

Out of a bottle this beer was a 14K gold color with lots of visible carbonation. The head was cream-colored, retained itself well as a cap and left scattered lacing. The aroma was pretty much a light version of standard macro lager smells. The flavors were very washed out, dry grains, pale malt and lager malt, all bleached away. The body was medium. The mouthfeel average and the carbonation a little prickly. Sadly, the way it looked was the best part.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a Krušovice-branded pilsner glass.

Appearance: Pours a tan-ish amber color, a lot darker than you'd expect from a light beer. The head is large and fizzy and takes its time dissipating leaving some spotty lacing.

Smell: Smells slightly malty with mostly a corny/grainy smell. Smells better than most macros but is definitely still a light lager.

Taste: Really light on taste but that's expected from a light beer. Has a grainy sweetness that's typical of adjunct lagers.

Mouthfeel: Like carbonated water. Enough said.

Drinkability: A surprisingly decent light beer. While certainly not a stand-out in any way, this beer is pretty refreshing and really drinkable. You could do FAR, FAR worse in a light beer.

The beer pours a clear yellow color with a white head. The aroma is strong grain with nothing else being present. The flavor is better than the aroma, but is still nothing special. I get some grain and wheat, as well as some sweet malt and some grassy hops. Medium carbonation and light mouthfeel. Not terrible, but nothing worth seeking out unless you really like light lagers.

Poured from a bottle into a standard tumbler. No freshness date.

Pours a light to medium straw with a two finger head that recedes to a cap and fades to nothing.

Aroma is tannic acid malt and sweetness. Funny, TX beer smells like sweet tea. Malt is slightly husky and yeast is a bit dank.

Flavor is caramel malt, loads of caramel, followed by sweet tea tannic acids and diacetyl, loads of diacetyl. The middle is butter scotch weak with a mix of husky grain. Finishes with a hint of sweet grain and an oh so light touch of hop.

Mouthfeel is thin and bubbly, OK for a light type macro. It is crisp enough that's for sure.

If not for the diacetyl flavor, this would be a decent beer. Unfortunately the predominant flavor shouldn't really be the show stealer it is.

This review is short and sweet. This is a typical light beer with some more flavor. If you don't like lights don't drink this one it's no different. Nice look with a puffy white head. Smell is sort of malty and sweet. Mild malt flavor kind of like corn. Decent carbonation and very, very smooth and drinkable. Low ABV and the $ of Shiner(especially the variety pack) make for a good choice for macro drinkers to jump into the world of craft brewing. Most of Shiner beers are not too over the top and this is no exception. Good beer Spoetzl Brewery

Pours a very clear pale golden amber color with a short white head that quickly dissipates into a thin and wispy lace. Nose is rather clean with some notes of grain and some underlying semi-floral aromas. Very light and crisp in texture with a moderate amount of active carbonation. Taste begins with a sweet grain flavor that begins to turn bitter as notes of grain husks begin to express themselves. There is also a bit of a steely metallic flavor that becomes more pronounced towards the end of the taste that eventually gives way to a light lemony hop bite. Nothing special, though for a light beer, this is a step up from the macros.

After taking the first sip, I was surprised that this was a decent light beer, so I poured the rest into a glass to get a better look at it.

Very light gold, practically yellow, there are a few bubbles rising to the top to meet the almost non-existent white head. There was no lacing or anything too impressive about the look of it.

Unlike most light beers, though, you can actually get some aroma from this one. Not surprising, the malt comes out the most followed by a bit of hoppiness. However, there is a slight staleness to it (and no, it's not an old bottle).

A fairly good, round bread taste is held by the beer. Faint hops eventually show themselves, but no real aftertaste lingers. Stark and clean like a light beer usually is. Not that it's bad, but this just isn't really a beer I would get excited about.

The mouthfeel is a little too sparkling for what I like, and the body doesn't fill out much, but again I have to use the excuse that it is a light lager.

This is an easy beer to drink, but after one I really want something more satisfying.

Shiner definitely has a victory with the light beer circle in my eyes, but it's far from their best offerings.

I don't even know where this thing came from. The notes are from a long time ago.

The color is a yellowish-gold with more of an amber hue, making it darker than any macro light I've seen. The head retention is actually pretty good and there are even a few small sopts of lacing.
Like most lights, the nose is more grains than anything, though this one isn't tainted so much by adjuncts. There's a light hops presence with a barely present caramel malt.
The taste follows suit exactly.
The carbonation's on the high side of moderate and the body, of course, is light. This one's smoother than most lights.
This is the one (thus far in my experience) to drink if you must have a light beer.

poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass. no freshness dating noted on bottle.

A - poured a light amber. much darker than i had expected for a light beer. it started with a creamy one-finger head that quickly receded into a thin cap. stickly lacing down the sides.

S - not much noted. some hops there, but little else.

T - a little bit of grass...maybe some hint of banana?

M - light-bodied, less than average carbonation, no pop, no aftertaste.

D - could probably sit around and drink these one after another...but don't know why i'd choose to do that?

Pours to a quickly disappearing head. Color is pale copper color with a dirty brown tinge. Aroma is weak but nicely malty. Flavor is watery and dry with a little fresh Munich malt shining (no pun) through. Hoppiness is there for balance only. Finishes clean. Looks dismal, smells nice, tastes weak and finishes like a regular Shiner Bock.

I poured a 12oz bottle into a chilled pint glass.

Has good light copper color, especially for a light beer. Had a thin head that didn't last long.
Smells light a little malty.
Tastes better than most light beers too. A little metallic, kind of fruity.
Drinks good, not overcarbonated, but there's really not much here...
Would drink this again if it was offered to me, won't be buying this stuff.

12oz. bottle poured into a pint glass. It pours a very light copper color with one finger of head. There is a little bit of lacing. The smell is a little malty and grassy, but not too much going on there. The taste is a little sweet with some caramel flavors, not much hops or anything else going on. The mouthfeel is light and watery. The drinkability is good though. It's just there.

Pours a clear tawny gold with a thick, fluffy head that laces the glass quite well. This is a very attractive beer. Nose is thin, dry malts with no hint of skunk or grass.

Taste is weak but not unpleasant. Malty and clean, not a lot of hops flavors, not much depth. Not much to grab onto but nothing to offend, either. Impresses me as a regular Shiner Bock that is diluted a bit.

Mouthfeel is rather watery but palatable, indeed, very drinkable. Not my favorite style but better than any other light beer I've tried. If you are to judge beers strictly within the style, this has to receive high marks.

A) Very clear dark gold glass that barely holds a halo of foam.

S) Mild metallic note, mild noble hops, little malt sweetness

T) A bit of corn, Shiner house yeast, little malt sweetness, not much else. It's light, but it's supposed to be.

M) Fizzy, but not overly so, light body of course.

D) Eh. Got one in the family pack, I'll drink it, but doubt I'll ever order one.

Pours a light amber color

Smell is mildly malty with some hints at hops.

Taste like is smells a watery malt with notes of hops.

Light watery mouthfeel lots of carbonation

Better than budlight, I would drink it again, but it's not as cheap as budlight.

Poured into a pilsner.

A: Nice dark golden color. Hefty carbonation pours into a very slight, white, bubbly, head which quickly rides off into the sunset leaving only remnants of carbonation. Hints of lacing, but quickly retreats to the body of the brew.

S: A little malt, a little wheat, and a bit of a soapy smell for lack of a better distinction.

T: Light maltiness, but a bit of a soapy palette.

M: Light, diluted (it is a light after all). Aftertaste is a little off-putting.

D: Okay.

Atmosphere is serviceable. Flavor is not bad, but not really there either. I have the same enthusiasm about the feel. Okay quaff.
