I don't like light beer - but this is better than Coors Light, Bud Light, Busch Light and any other light beer I've tried. Lighter abv (4.0%) than the before mentioned consequently a bit smoother. Can't give drinkability a higher score as I got it in a Shiner Family multi-pack, there4 haven't drunk it enough to know how drinking it as a session beer would affect me.

Thisones light all the way, but not bad.

Pours a golden straw, white well carbonated head. Faded yes, lace some but faded as well.

From here on its just alittle typical and bland. Aroma of grass, pine and hay.
Taste is thin along with the mouthfeel of watered grass. little malt sweetness, little hop crispness.

Overall its ok to drink and at 4%abv, not a problem there.

Amber-golden color, clear. Nice amount of carbonation. Small soapy head that disappears really quick, no lacing.

Very clean aroma, but I get some grainy, touch of caramel.

Dry grainy up front, a little toffee/caramel notes. Hop character is very mild, a little touch of grass. I notice there's some green apple in the midway. Clean finish with very dry aftertaste. Body is light-medium, much heavier than most light beer. Carbonation is medium, not over powering.

Fairly good. A little too dry, but not bad for a light beer.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a shaker pint glass. The label has a brief description of the beer but no ABV or freshness date.

Appearance: This beer has a very clear straw yellow color with a light soapy head on top that quickly dissipates. Only a small ring of bubbles is left and lacing is nil.

Smell: The aroma is light clean and a little bready with the slightest hint of grassy hops.

Taste/Palate: It's simple, clean and light bodied. Light bready maltiness brings mild sweetness for the light hops to balance. The texture is light and well carbonated but not overly fizzy.

Notes: For a Light Lager this one is not bad at all just a little boring but so is the style really.

The beer pours a clear yellow color with a white head. The aroma is strong grain with nothing else being present. The flavor is better than the aroma, but is still nothing special. I get some grain and wheat, as well as some sweet malt and some grassy hops. Medium carbonation and light mouthfeel. Not terrible, but nothing worth seeking out unless you really like light lagers.

12 oz. bottle tried 17 Jul 2009.

Served in the 0.4 L Hutthurmer mug. Small white head quickly dissipates. Well carbonated. Brass colored, clear. Aroma is lightly sweet and bready. Fizzy, some corn to start. Quite light in flavor. Light body. Somewhat sweet finish.

Like washing down a piece of white bread with mineral water.

This is a pretty good light of the better one's I've had. It has that similar bready maltiness their main lager is lighter in body but not thin like most in this style...smooth, rounded finish....

I'm impressed...nice slightly sweet bready flavor...decent body...nice cheapness to it...what more do you need for this style to rate it high?

Scores are per style.

I poured a 12oz bottle into a chilled pint glass.

Has good light copper color, especially for a light beer. Had a thin head that didn't last long.
Smells light a little malty.
Tastes better than most light beers too. A little metallic, kind of fruity.
Drinks good, not overcarbonated, but there's really not much here...
Would drink this again if it was offered to me, won't be buying this stuff.

Presentation: Poured from a 12oz twist-top bottle into a globe glass.

A: Light golden brown with a one finger thick head with minimal head retention. Practically no lacing going on here.

S: Sort of a hard beer to put a lot of smelling notes for, just not enough going on. Seems to be right along the lines of a standard light lager: moderate semi-sweet maltiness, a hint of sweet corn and cereal grains, and minimal hoppiness.

T: Quite light! Not much malt or hoppiness going on here. I would describe the flavor as a watered-down sweet maltiness with practically no hops. The finish is just a watery malty finish.

M: As mentioned in the taste this is quite watery though there is a pleasant amount of carbonation here.

D: I could personally pound these all night, its very watery. I'm knocking it down a bit though because I don't think I would want to drink just this.

Notes: I may come off a bit critical here but I do think they hit on the style just fine. Its quite refreshing but really just tastes like a light malty carbonated soda in my opinion. Still its definitely better than some of the standard offerings for the style.

12 oz bottle poured into pint glass

A: Light orange color & clear about a fingers worth of head that settles to a nice layer of foam and ring, little to no lacing. This one of the darker light beers I've seen plus a head that holds on thought the session. Very surprising, in a good way.

S: Little straw, malt and a hint of hops... another surprise for a light beer.

T: I'm getting no straw in the taste, just a balance of malt and hops. The overall flavors are on the light side. Aftertaste just a little bitter, but light.

M: Light to Med, heavier than other light beers I've had. Carbonation very nice, not to much or to little.

D: Low ABV, does not look like a light beer and has good flavors.... A very drinkable light beer.

Best light beer I've had so far... Give it a try if you are looking for a light beer.

pours out a perfect gold colour with a respectable head reducing to a smattering of lace. a light, husky and sweet aroma. a lot more aroma than a majority of light beers. the flavour isn't too bad...lots of residual sweetness...a bit corny but that's alright. it actually has just enough character to be enjoyable. a bit of hop bitterness stings the back end to balance the sweetness. all this is supported by a crisp mouthfeel that is just watery enough to pass as a light beer. the overall body is about right, and if were to drink this blind, i would have trouble recgnizing this as a light beer. nice drinkability, i can see why this would be a good choice in the Texas heat.

for a light beer, this is pretty impressive. keep it on the cold side. rates high within it's style.

It has a tinted gold look to it, which is nice for a light beer.

The aroma is vague and distant. Corn, cereal grain, honey.

It has a sweet maltiness to it with a comfortable light flavor. Overall though, I can't taste much at all from this. Prickly hops try to come around in the finish.

It's clean with good carbonation but i'm going to have to take the calories over this. Bland.

poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass. no freshness dating noted on bottle.

A - poured a light amber. much darker than i had expected for a light beer. it started with a creamy one-finger head that quickly receded into a thin cap. stickly lacing down the sides.

S - not much noted. some hops there, but little else.

T - a little bit of grass...maybe some hint of banana?

M - light-bodied, less than average carbonation, no pop, no aftertaste.

D - could probably sit around and drink these one after another...but don't know why i'd choose to do that?

Acquired via trade from gramatton, so a big "Thank you" goes out to him. Poured from a 12oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep gold color with a large white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is of light malts, grain and a decent amount of hops for the style.

T: The taste starts out bready with flavors of grain and barley. Then there's a mild caramel sweetness that comes in along with a stronger than average hops bitterness for a light beer creating a pretty good balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Smooth and crisp, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean and dry.

D: Tasty, goes down very easily, not too filling, very mild kick, very good representation of style, normally when you see "light" on a beers label you anticipate it to be a shadow of anything good, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that this beer is well-worth pounding down for a long time.

Poured from a bottle in a mixed six pack into my favorite pint glass. The light straw color and one inch head was pretty nice for a light brew. Smell was bright with not much offensive typical adjunct smell. Taste was right down the middle as well. Mouthfeel was light and drinkability was there. All in all not bad for a light. Lawnmower quality for sure.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a KruĀšovice-branded pilsner glass.

Appearance: Pours a tan-ish amber color, a lot darker than you'd expect from a light beer. The head is large and fizzy and takes its time dissipating leaving some spotty lacing.

Smell: Smells slightly malty with mostly a corny/grainy smell. Smells better than most macros but is definitely still a light lager.

Taste: Really light on taste but that's expected from a light beer. Has a grainy sweetness that's typical of adjunct lagers.

Mouthfeel: Like carbonated water. Enough said.

Drinkability: A surprisingly decent light beer. While certainly not a stand-out in any way, this beer is pretty refreshing and really drinkable. You could do FAR, FAR worse in a light beer.

As far as light beers go, this one is pretty good. It definitely out ranks the major 3 light beers.

A: is a a decent copper, but seems to really try to force a head with a lot of carbonation out of the gate that fizzles quickly. Nothing remains after a minute or so.

S: Some hops some malts, basically a light beer. Nothing shocking here.

T: Same as the nose. It does surprise me though that there is actually a taste to this beer. Is why I think it out ranks the major 3. No unwanted harsh after taste either.

M: Light bodied, and lets be honest would you really have expected anything else. No unwanted feelings left behind.

D: Easily could drink a lot more than one.

Poured from a bottle into a standard tumbler. No freshness date.

Pours a light to medium straw with a two finger head that recedes to a cap and fades to nothing.

Aroma is tannic acid malt and sweetness. Funny, TX beer smells like sweet tea. Malt is slightly husky and yeast is a bit dank.

Flavor is caramel malt, loads of caramel, followed by sweet tea tannic acids and diacetyl, loads of diacetyl. The middle is butter scotch weak with a mix of husky grain. Finishes with a hint of sweet grain and an oh so light touch of hop.

Mouthfeel is thin and bubbly, OK for a light type macro. It is crisp enough that's for sure.

If not for the diacetyl flavor, this would be a decent beer. Unfortunately the predominant flavor shouldn't really be the show stealer it is.

Pours a light amber color

Smell is mildly malty with some hints at hops.

Taste like is smells a watery malt with notes of hops.

Light watery mouthfeel lots of carbonation

Better than budlight, I would drink it again, but it's not as cheap as budlight.

In bottle on 8/14/09.

A: Crystal clear, dark golden. A little bit of coarse head, doesn't stick around for long.

S: Not much going on here. I would say a little bit of malt, not much else.

T: Well, this isn't that bad for a light lager. A little caramel flavor to it, some biscuit. and some very faint hops. If I were training for a marathon or something, this might be my beer.

M: Light, highly carbonated.

D: For the style, this is pretty good. I'm not going to reach for it over any other Shiner, but if I'm specifically looking for a light beer, I'd choose this over the usual suspects. Honestly, I should probably rate it higher just because I don't know where it could pick up points and still be in style.

Poured bottle into pint glass.

Appearance: A clear, dark gold color with a very small head.

Smell: A slight malt aroma, but not much.

Taste: Had a modestly strong flavor for the style with a decent bitter kick. On the whole, however, fairly bland.

Mouthfeel: Pretty thin and watery.

Drinkability: Not too impressed. I wouldn't get this again.

I don't even know where this thing came from. The notes are from a long time ago.

The color is a yellowish-gold with more of an amber hue, making it darker than any macro light I've seen. The head retention is actually pretty good and there are even a few small sopts of lacing.
Like most lights, the nose is more grains than anything, though this one isn't tainted so much by adjuncts. There's a light hops presence with a barely present caramel malt.
The taste follows suit exactly.
The carbonation's on the high side of moderate and the body, of course, is light. This one's smoother than most lights.
This is the one (thus far in my experience) to drink if you must have a light beer.

Nose is grainy/toasty, mildly sour and hoppy. Smells pretty good.

Pours clear pale gold, very mild head. Looks fair.

Flavor is indeed light. Grainy toasty malt. Spot of hops. Slight sourness. Very carbonated and thin bodied. Tastes pretty good. Feels okay. Good drinkability.

A decent light beer.

Appearance - Light amber with lots of bubbles. The head is bigger than I expected, and is composed of larger-than-usual bubbles.

Smell - Sweet malt, some grass.

Taste - Not a lot going on, but what is there is tasty. Caramel, grass, and some soft hop flavors in the background.

Mouthfeel - Pretty smooth. Light body and medium-high carbonation.

Drinkability - Very high.

Notes - This is the first time I've had this beer, and I'm surprised it's as good as it is, with the 'light' label and everything. Trying to diet by drinking crappier beer just isn't worth it, but if you feel the need to do so anyway, then this is the beer for you. Now if only they could make a gluten-free beer that was as good...
