The best thing I can say about this one is that it has a nice malt aroma with a hint of caramel. The color is not bad either; a solid dark brown. However, the taste is not so flavorful. It's a pretty watery and light tasting beer with a slightly creamy finish towards the end of the drink. Not a terrible beer and certainly not the worst I've ever had. I would not rule this one out forever, however, will not actively seek it out.

single bottle into a pint glass (in the midst of moving and painting)

some toasted grain, and a little caramel and toffee on the nose, then the taste follows. nothing too exciting or subtle, but it drinks okay, and in the midst of a winter move, it's refreshing and tasty enough.

Aroma: Slight DMS aroma up front (cooked corn). Light carmel notes and some grainy malt on the nose. DMS clears as the beer warms up. No hop aroma detectable.

Appearance: Crystal clear copper colored pour with golden edging. Streams of carbonation through the body. A white head that doesn't retain very long.

Flavor: Bready and grainy malt notes. No hop flavor but the bitterness balances out the grainy sweet notes. No off flavors detected. Slight carmel notes as the beer warms up. Finishes clean.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied and lively carbonation. No astringency with a dry finish. No alcohol warmth but the biting carbonation definitely beats down some of the flavor.

Overall impression: A lightly malty, slightly grainy, well balanced beer. No off flavors and seems like a fresh sample. Not sure this is truly a "bock" other than the fact that it's probably a lager yeast strain. Tastes like a macro lager with some carmel flavoring. Still, it's highly sessionable and pretty good once the DMS clears out. Worth a try I suppose.

Woody brown color with a decent two finger head that fades quickly to a thin layer. Nose is ok. Not real offensive in any way but lacking in awesomeness. Softly malty caramel, and fairly crisp. Taste is not much but good for getting food down the ol' tunnel. A little bit malty and semi sweet. Mouthfeel is thin and finish is quick. Drinkability is alright.

Ok, but not great.

Got a bottle of this because someone that is constantly around always says that this is his favorite beer and how it's never let him down. We'll see... Poured from the bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: Body is a nice deep coppery/amber color and it starts with a very short head that disappears almost instantly to a very thin and incomplete skim on the surface and what is actually a pretty solid ring around it as well; there is an oily film hanging out just above the surface ring -- hmmm... -- a really oily lacing hangs out briefly as well and then slides back down; solid carbonation bubbling up from below

Smell: Comes across grainy like a macro lager with a very faint hint of sweeter malts hiding in the background; nothing else really and that grainy scent is a definite turn-off...

Taste: Not really impressed here -- the graininess is really a bit of a bummer, but at least it's followed by some biscuity and mildly sweet malt flavors... Essentially, it tastes like an extra malty macro lager.

Mouthfeel: Crisp from the carbonation; body is a little watery and not giving me much to think about; a slight sticky coating is left on the back of the tongue.

Drinkability: While nothing is really making this beer stand out, it's not as if it's a terrible tasting drink and the body isn't heavy, so I do feel that I could drink sevefal of these if necessary or if it was all that was being offered.

Chesnut and amber in color. Not much to speak of considering the head. Thin watery lacing.
Aroma is malty and mildly metallic.
Not very bock like but still a decent beer. Heavy on the malts. Unbalanced as the hops don't really add any bitterness. Caramel and toasty. The metallic aroma doesn't really transfer to the flavor.
Mouthfeel is light and drinkable. Uninteresting but not bad either.
This beer is not a world class bock or probably not even a bock. It is a cheap easy to find beer with flavor. Great beer for golf.
