12 oz. bottle poured into tulip
(Sept. 6, 2017 born-on date)

L: hazy orange-gold topped with almost a 1-inch head of creamy-looking beige foam; some sticking; keeps a full collar of offwhite foam

S: standard-issue mango-caramel with lots of malt sweetness, almost a malt-takeover DIPA aroma, some citrus in the background, mainly orange/candied orange

T: similar to nose with a slight grassy green note added, hops are still subdued by malt but there is a light earthiness to them that helps balance the sweetness; loads of mango-caramel

F: not weighty but still a nice ale heft to it, plenty of carbonation, easy to handle all around

O: at almost three months old, this beer is pretty solid; lots of malt flavor dominate, but there's just enough life left in the hops to balance some of the malt sweetness; I was gifted this bottle as part of a mixed 6-pack, so I wasn't looking for it on my own, but there's enough here to make me curious about a fresh 6-pack's potential

12oz brown bottle, sample from the brewery.

Deep golden hue, filtered clarity. Good lacing all around. Some caramel, fruitiness, citric hop and herbal hop in the nose. Thin bodied, forced hop bitterness. Some light bready / caramel malt has a hard time melding with the citrus rind grassy hop flavor. A bit warming with some pear-like fruitiness. Decent for an IPA, I'm a fan of the Shiner brand though they should not chase the IPA game.

12 oz bottle. Pours clear golden with thick white head, great retention and lace. Mild bready wheat aroma, grass. Taste is similar malty but clean with grassy bitterness and that astringency taste of a lager. Pepper throughout the swallow. Medium mouthfeel. Overall not a bad beer just not a very good IPA.

Great session IPA...SHINER is all about session beers and this one is no different...if u are a beer snob that demands in your face flavor then move along otherwise this is an easy drinking IPA THAT WOULD be great for grilling and hot weather.

Pours a hazy orange with a foamy beige head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus zest, and earthy hop aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest, grapefruit juice, pine needle, and earthy hop flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer that is drinkable, but nothing stands out about this one for the style.

Serving type: bottle.

Appearance: Hazy golden glass holds a thin white head that laces the glass a bit.

Aroma: Hops, but fairly low intensity, a mix of citric and earthy with a bread yeast note (Shiner house yeast?)

Taste: Bitter but not a lot of hop flavor, very earthy without any real citric note, leafy, almost viney rustic, almost vegetable. Thin body doesn't really hold up the hops, mild cracker note. Fairly one dimensional, mild soapy note in the finish.

Mouthfeel: Fizzy, light body, thin finish

Overall: Not the hop profile I personally enjoy in an IPA as I like more West Coast citric than the earthy route taken here. Kudos for going fairly big, especially for Shiner which tends to stay middle of the road, but not one of my favorite offerings from them.

Just picked it up at a local grocery store. I was surprised! Not bad at all, and I will pick this up now when I want a session IPA. Pours very nice into a pint glass with a thick white head, foamy lacing, it looks great. A fresh smell, with a lemony and slightly spice taste. Way to go Shiner!

a) Nothing clear about this murky, muddy dark amber body with a lacing head and spotty lace.
s) Low tide, medicine cabinet. Old fruit and mown grass - perhaps on compost pile, slight salt and decay.
t) Follows aroma. Up front moderate bready and caramel malts soaked in a soupy mix of fruit salad sweetness. fall orchard, fallen wet leaves, pine and landing in lingering bitterness.
f) Medium bodied. Not that fresh, but a good bitter dryness in the finish.
o) the over ripe, moldy smell had me checking did I pour into a clean snifter.

It's a bit light on hop flavor for an American IPA but it does have some herbal and floral hop bitterness and flavor throughout with mild caramel malt backing it up. It's fairly dry, medium-bodied with just a little bitter orange peel in the finish. Reminds me of an English IPA.

Pours a pretty dark gold color with a nice big white head. Pleasant aroma of citrus and grapefruit. Taste: Wait, how is this an IPA? American IPAs should have a reasonable amount of bitterness (absent). American IPAs should have a lot of hops flavor (absent). Couldn't even pass this off as an English IPA. This is a low-end ABV IPA but still, with that same 6%, Dogfish Head got way more flavor out of its 60 Minutes. I hope the rest of the country won't judge Texas beers based on the taste of this one. Very weak effort.

Poured into a tap glass, this beer has a little bit of white head that quickly dissipates above a filtered, clear light golden brew. Aroma is sweet maltiness and citrus, grass, piney hops. Taste is very similar. It's a bit uneven with the way the malt and hops come together, it's a bit too sweet with hops that taste a bit off, which I can't put my finger on. Mouthfeel is a bit cloying, but dry and finishes very easy. A fairly easy drinking ipa, light on the booziness but not overly tasty.

S: exudes hint of pine, citrus and tropical fruit aromas with faint melon and a trace of bread crumb.

L: hazy gold amber with a 2" white foam cap that takes 4 minutes to reduce to a thick film that marks each drink with a medium thick line.

T: nice blend of flavors that highlights biscuit and berry. The malt is medium to medium low, the hop flavors and bitterness are medium.

F: It has a medium to medium light body and soft medium carbonation.

O: Very easy to drink beer

Looks pretty solid, champagne-like bubbles clinging to the inside of the glass with a bubbly ring of foam dissipating quickly. Smells as much like a lager as an IPA. Corny, funky, and a tad hoppy. The taste is phenomenal. Incredible light flavor, yet complex and utterly balanced. Very well done in this regard, and one of the best IPAs I've tasted.
