A poured with a head like 7 up - completely gone by the time I got to the table.
just a bit darker amber than the macros
clear as a bell

S not too much to the nose at all

T like a macro but no metallic taste

M smooth, just a bit heavy on the carbonation

D - consider this a well done macro " call that a beer? I'd rather have another!"

Shiner Homespun Cream Ale has a thick, white head, a mostly clear, golden appearance, with ascending bubbles, some white flecks, and moderate lacing, left behind. The aroma is of somewhat sharp, semi-sweet sourdough bread and and a touch of candi sugar. Taste is of those elements, with just a touch of bitterness, in the closeout. Mouthfeel is medium and smooth, and Homespun Cream Ale finishes crisp and mellow.

I have always liked Shiner beers and now that we are getting their distro here in PA, it makes it easy for me to get them as they become available. Yes, this is another bottle, but they are falling fast and furious at this point.

From the bottle: "Born In America * Brewed In Shiner"; "Every Drop of Shiner Is Brewed In Shiner"; "Enjoy"; "Our Cream Ale is inspired by classic American recipes and homespun in Shiner, TX. It's brewed with an extra helping of specialty wheat malt to give it a velvety smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Pale gold in color, Homespun is a sessionable go-to brew with a crisp, refreshing finish. So pop one open and join us in celebrating American brewing tradition ... with a dash of Southern hospitality from Shiner, TX. Prosit, y'all!"

I did not Pop! the top as the cap directed me to "Give It a Spin", which I did & then promptly emptied the contents into an awaiting glass. It really seemed to foam up quickly, so I backed off and watched raptly as it settled into just over a finger of dense, rocky, bone-white head with decent retention. Color was a gorgeous Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 -5) with NE-quality clarity, prompting an impromptu visit from The Gelt Gang of Mammon, Midas & Croesus. Nose had a cereal-like sweetness, like my late-Pops' Wheaties, drizzled with honey and overlain with milk. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was slightly sweet, more of that wheat flavor, which was nice, since the style often incorporates corn. I just could not stop thinking of Wheaties. Finish was semi-dry, very pleasant and easy-drinking & I think that they should put this one in CANs in time for summer.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 2/27/2017. Pours fairly crystal clear medium golden yellow color with a 2 finger dense and rocky white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of cracker, corn, wheat, biscuit, light honey, herbal, light pepper, light pear/apple, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of pale malt and light earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of big cracker, corn, wheat, biscuit, light honey, herbal, light pepper, light pear/apple, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of cracker, corn, wheat, biscuit, light honey, herbal, light pepper, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and balance of pale malt and light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from bitterness and grainy malt, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/grainy/bready, and lightly sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is a very nice cream ale. All around nice robustness and balance of pale malt and light earthy hop flavors; Very smooth, clean, and refreshing to drink. Very flavorful for the low ABV, and a great example of the style. A very enjoyable offering.

A good 85/100 for me. I found that this beer was creamy and dreamy and I found that it is really smooth and has a really good mouth feel to it. This is a light, creamy beer anybody can enjoy.

This is about the corniest, ale-y-est cream ale there is. Pours to a creamy and lasting head with some lacing. Aroma is cooked corn, esters and a bit of acetone. Taste is corny, fruity and on the sweet and creamy side. Finishes with a long corn afterburner. If you like a corny cream ale, this is it. I don't think it has actual corn in it but it does have the DMS going for it.

Appearance: Bright golden glass supports a full finger of white foam with a glass full of carbonation streams.

Aroma: White bread, cracker malt with a bit of earthy hops and a mineral water note reminiscent of Germany.

Taste: Malty sweetness starts and is quickly kept in check with an earthy hop note that finishes fairly cleanly leaving a long sweet finish with just a hint of metallic. Some grape and plum esters as it warms a bit.

Mouthfeel: Medium body, medium heavy carbonation walks the line on getting foamy.

Overall: Pretty clean, a little heavy for a cream in my opinion but it's tasty so I don't really care. Worth a try.

very clean and very golden. a decent head that fades quickly with no lacing.

aroma is weak. cracker and a touch of popcorn.

taste is sweet and cracker/popcorn. there is a vanilla aftertaste to this that it took me a second to find, but now it's obviously there and a bit strange, but not bad. just added to the sweetness of the whole thing.

a little creamy. sweetness is lingering.

it's ok for what it is, but i feel that way about all cream ales.

Pours a clear gold color. 1/4 inch head of an off-white color. Slight retention and poor lacing. Smells of strong pale malt, hint of vanilla, slight sweet malt, slight citrus hops, and floral hops. Fits the style of a Cream Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of strong pale malt, hint of vanilla, slight sweet malt, slight citrus hops, and floral hops. Overall, weak appearance, average aroma, body, and blend.

A: Pours a crystal clear medium golden yellow in color with moderate to heavy amounts of fine active visible carbonation and faint medium bright yellow colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall dense creamy foamy white head that slowly reduces to a large patch of thick film covering the entire surface of the beer and a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate aromas of cracker + grainy malts with light aromas of wheat malt and a light amount of corn adjunct sweetness. Very light aromas of grassy + floral hops.

T: Upfront there is a just shy of moderate flavor of cereal grain + cracker malts with a lighter flavor of wheat malts and a light amount of corn adjunct sweetness. That is followed by light flavors of grassy + floral hops which imparts a light amount of bitterness which fades away pretty quickly.

M: Light to medium bodied with heavy amounts of carbonation. Hints of smoothness/creaminess towards the end.

O: Enjoyable and pretty easy to drink but a little bit over carbonated in my opinion which reduces the smoothness of the mouthfeel. Alcohol is well hidden.
