Dry hopped with Mosaic hops, Shiner Golden Ale has a unique tropical aroma and a flavor that is balanced by the sweetness from the malt. Easy drinking with a crisp, clean finish.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Pours orange yellow with a fluffy white head. Smells of sweet grain. Tastes of sweet grain with some fruit notes. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.

I recently found this at The Beer & Beverage Shoppe on Roseville Road & given that today is moving rather slowly, this seemed like the right choice for a review.
From the Bottle: "Turning Beer Into Gold Since 1909"; "Enjoy!"; "Pure Liquid Gold"; "In 1909, the Shiner Brewing Association drilled a well on the land where the Spoetzl Brewery now sits. Fifty-five feet down, they hit the mother lode - cool, clear, limestone-filtered water that we still use today. Dry hopped with Mosaic hops, our Golden Ale has a unique tropical aroma and a flavor that is balanced by the sweetness from the malt. It's a delightful, easy-drinking brew with a crisp, clean finish. Some might say it's as good as ... well, you know."
One of my few bugaboos with the Spoetzl Brewery/Shiner is that they are still using those screwed-up screw-off caps! They deny me even the smallest pleasure of Pop!ping the cap. I guess that I could, but why bother? A C-Line pour resulted in just over a finger of fizzy, foamy, bone-white head that quickly reduced to mere wisps. Color was a pretty Gold (SRM = 5) with NE-quality clarity & while this usually summons forth The Gelt Gang of Mammon, Croesus & Midas, they were already here, just awaiting the bottle's opening! Nose was kind of light, more bready than tropical. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium, not watery, but don't expect a lot, either. The taste was slightly bitter, but tending more towards sweet thanks to both the bready malt & the tropical Mosaic hops. Finish was semi-sweet, but extremely drinkable. This could be a real go-to on a hot humid day, especially in Texas!

I have no complaints about this beer, truly wasn't expecting much from it but it did surpass my expectations. Smooth and easy simple as that and you can toss a couple back. This was a lovely brew for me I enjoyed it.

Appearance:
Golden, clear. Highly carbonated. Thick fluffy head that disappears slowly, leaves a nice lacing behind.
Aroma:
Pale sweet malts, bready, a little caramel. Some fruity. Hint of citrus hops.
Taste/Finish/Body:
Malty, pale malts, biscuit, hint of bread crust. A little fruity. Hop bitterness is low, citrus-spicy. Crisp-dry finish. Medium bodied, smooth, slight creamy, soft carbonation, super drinkable.
Overall:
Awesome blonde ale.
