This juicy IPA is wicked in all the right ways. It's dry hopped, unfiltered and bursting with Citra hops for a bright, juicy kick. The result is a deliciously hazy brew that just waiting to be popped open. Make it your main squeeze.

A New England IPA from Texas you say? Yeah, we’ve dabbled with the ram horns of Shiner Bock before but when I came across this on a late summer night in Hampton Beech I thought id give it a go. It cost $6 for a four pack, an absolute steal for the style, but there’s prob good reason. Granted we in NE are extremely spoiled (rightfully so) when it comes to the NEIPA, but in times like these $6 rather than $16 for a four pack is appealing. Anyway... the beer drinks rather thin. It’s watery considering most NEIPA are kinda sludge. This was... not. It had decent aroma that quickly faded quickly, much like my desire to drink the rest of the cup. Beggars can’t be choosers and you get what you pay for I guess. We will stick to the Rams when it comes to Shiner.

Poured from the bottle into a Spiegelau IPA glass.
Pale orange body color, quite dark a bit but not totally hazy or turbid looking. Odd head creation, about three fingers but incredibly soapy and macro looking in appearance and retention. Scattered lacing, and thin looking in looks for an IPA.
First reaction on the nose is odd. Some notions of juiced up hop, hits slightly tropical pineapple but my first experience and words that comes to mind is "funny". There's this very odd sensing almost diacetyl butter "like" aroma but something more peculiar, almost a sweet slickness that's hard to put into words.
Palate is a real bizarre mix. Extremely wet and watery body, worse than session IPA character which I would not be so critical about if it was a session IPA. Mid palate is dry almost burning grain, with a bland and bitter hop profile, that tastes mostly of dried out dirt and dust. Faint finish of orange, and a real distracting pine heat that comes out more like burnt wood. Exceptional dry flavored, weak bodied, chalky finish, and certainly not juicy.
You know what this almost reminds me of? A No alcohol IPA I had recently. This thing while drinkable doesn't come across like anything it is advertising and just unfortunately tastes lousy.

On tap at La Casa Cafe, Long Island, NY.
Pours a hazy golden orange color. A well retaining frothy head, moderate in size, yields lacing.
Bright aromas of citrus fruit, including, orange, tangerine, grapefruit and lime. There is a hint of light pine as well as aromas of grainy malt sweetness.
First impressions are that the body is rather light and thin for the style and not as juicy as a typical NEIPA. It mainly highlights citrus flavors, particularly grapefruit rind and lime, amidst a dry cracker malt backbone. There is a subtle bitterness in the middle palate, along with piney flavors. The finish is dry with a light bitterness that feels oddly unbalanced with the malt and fruity hops flavors. The body does improve somewhat, however, as it becomes more creamy and smooth. The carbonation is moderate.
This was okay, nothing special. I don’t feel it really hit the hallmarks of the NEIPA style in terms of juiciness and body.

12oz bottle poured into wine glass. No discernible date anywhere. Picked up during the COVID-19 pandemic from a grocery store as part of a $15 Shiner variety pack.
Appearance - Pours 1-2 finger white silky-sudsy head with good retention and lacing. Deeply hazy yellow body with a tinge of orange. 4
Smell - Juicy in the name is apt. Has that plump, juicy orange or pineapple smell. 4.25
Taste - Bitter grass, without the sweetness the nose suggests. A hint of that fruitiness flavor though. 3.75
Mouthfeel - Medium to full bodied. Chewy, smooth, but somehow fairly clean too. Some astringency builds up over time and that does detract. 3.75
Overall - Very drinkable, particularly in style. At first. However, it somehow becomes less impressive as I continue drinking it. Not sure if it's because of warming, aeration, or just build up on the palate. 3.75

L: 4. Looks like the style alright. Opaque orange with a lingering white head.
S: 3.5 a bit underwhelming but all the elements are there.
T: 3.75 Tastes more like a west coast style IPA. Bitterness from the hops. Not as much juiciness you'd expect from a hazy IPA.
F: 4. Fantastic.
O: 3.75 A good Hazy IPA to try.

Pours a very cloudy orange with about a 1/2 in. white head. The smell is mainly citrus, not a lot of pine notes like some of my favorite IPA's; still good nonetheless. The taste is very tangy citrus flavor with a slight bite of hops. Pretty high in carbonation, kinda thin. Overall, I think this beer could use some more hops, not a bad brew though.
