If you're from Texas, or you have a special place for Hill Country peaches and Texas pecans, and Shiner, you're gonna love this beer. It pours out dark amber, has a wonderful peach aroma and just the right amount of bitterness. I like it better than the Hefe Shiner makes, but its kind of like that the first time you drink it you know you're getting something different, and something good. Like the hefe, it is fairly high ABV, you wouldn't really know it though as smooth as it goes down. Who said they could only drink two of these in a session, lmao.

I enjoy this as a good holiday beer. It tastes like Christmas. Seems it came out pretty early this year but hey, seems the holiday season starts earlier and earlier each year. Why not enjoy it with a good beer.

Review from BeerAdvocate magazine Vol. II Issue XI:

Dunkelweizen meets fruitcake. Here is Spoetzl Brewery's take on making a holiday beer out of a Bavarian-Style Dark Wheat Beer. Brewed with peaches, pecans, natural flavor and caramel color. Hey, at least they admit they use flavoring and color. Worried? Perhaps, but we'll let our taste buds be the judge.

Yup, it's a wheat beer with its towering head, good retention and all. Peach aroma dominates the nose, yet there are hints of pecans and some toasted maltiness. Ample smoothness with a slick, medium body. Fresh wheat malt and toasted grain are a good base that hold this beer together. Peach flavor has a mild twang within the subtle sweetness. Nutty, with a light pecan note in the middle. Mild hop presence does not get in the way, though it does help to balance. Finishes dry with a toasted bread crust and lingering pecan flavor.

Interesting, a flavored holiday ale where we would possibly want more than one. Nice to see something different rather than the usual pie spicing that ends up tasting like organic toothpaste. A good pick for the holiday party, as it will definitely spark some interest if not conversation. This is without a doubt a beer that non-beer drinkers could approach and hopefully get pulled into.

Being from Texas, I've tried just about every Shiner product. This beer literally tastes like Christmas. Dark amber, cream to tan .5"to 1" head. Subtle fruity flavor gives way to a sweet, caramel and "Christmas Dessert" flavor. Not too bad from a nostalgic stand point.

Dunkelweizen? Hmmmm....mostly sweet tree fruit, pecans barely noticeable. Decent head, light weight body and mouthfeel. Nothing memorable here, trying to place peaches in the realm of winter seasonal flavors, doesn’t work...

Great fruity nutty taste. Body is light and refreshing. It might be a bit too sweet for some. Body could be a slight deeper. This definitely a fall wheat. This will get me through the holiday season. This is another great Shiner spin. There is nothing really tasting quite like this. Great job.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. 2016 batch. Sampled on December 30, 2016.

Attractive looking amber-mahogany pour with a quick lasting head that fades fast with no lacing.

Ack! That aroma is crazy. Peaches, peaches, and more peaches. Smells like peach juice. No barley malts or hop sensation that I can pick up. Vegetable oil too. Highly disappointing.

Light body.

The taste is a tad better than the abrupt peach-like aroma but not by much. I get this peach juice character, a vague (very vague) bready note, and only the slightest of hop bite. But this might as well be a peach drink.

After 8 years on BA I do really try to keep an open mind and "respect beer" but I can't get why this is getting the better than average ratings it is getting. It seems so artificial. Maybe I got an old or bad bottle. Yeah, that will be my excuse.

I always look forward to this beer! I enjoy the suble peach and other flavored. Slightly sweet and malty. Had it first this year on draft into a pint glass. Fruity smell, comforting taste and feel. Looking forward to drinking this over the next couple months.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium to dark coppery amber with a one finger white head that dissipates to the thin film with light lacing. Aroma of bready malt, peaches and a hint of pecan. Flavor is biscuit and bready malt, peaches, mild pecan with the peach up front and a pecan developing into the finish which has a light pecan husk astringency. Medium bodied with light creaminess. An odd holiday ale that is dominated by peach flavor. The flavor is a bit of a roller coaster, sweet, peachy and malty up front with the flavor dropping off a bit into a finish where the pecan comes to the fore, with bitterness that seems to be hops and pecan fiber. Interesting, with a bit more peach than I'd expect from a holiday beer. Maybe I've been gone from Texas too long. Fun for a change.

So to me the scent of this beer is actually enviting. Peaches on the edge of a malty base if not seeming a little too peachy. Maybe a little grape juice scented. I like the flavor. It's a beery drink with a peach ending. I like the sweet/bitter fight at the end of this beer. The only downside is the sweetness does linger on the palate a bit. It's really carbonated and a bit watery. Decent holiday beer if you ask me.

There was something very off-putting in the nose and flavor of this brew, akin to sugar that's been cooked down too far past the point of caramel and into acridity, combined with what I can only describe as slightly rotten Vidalia onions. Considering the ratings and the fact that I got one bottle of this in a create-your-own six pack at a grocery chain not known for its beer selection (beers kept warm, by the way, in lieu of refrigerated), I may have been bitten by the skunk bug. But considering I don't have a high opinion of any Shiner products so far, I'm willing to forego any benefit of the doubt.

A dunkelweizen brewed with peaches, pecans and delicious natural flavor and caramel color. On a day like this, what could be better than some crisp refreshing natural flavor?

The beer is the color of mahogany with ruby red highlights and perfect clarity, which I find a little odd for a dunkelweizen. The head crackles and dissipates like a can of soda poured into a paper cup. Looks exactly like Coke, actually.

Sweet and tart peaches and cream greet the nose first; more like cream soda actually. Toasted pecans and whole wheat toast are present as well. It's on the sweet side, and oddly artificial smelling.

Cola, peaches, strawberries, caramel and pecans are dominant on the tongue, along with a touch of nutmeg and chocolate. It's very sweet and syrupy, though the body is thin and carbonation high. It finishes on a dry note, with some lingering bitterness, Cherry Coke and peach. This is strange, unsettling stuff; it's like a soda/beer hybrid. If you're the type of person that adds shots of vodka to their RC Cola, you may enjoy this, but otherwise it's best avoided.

Poured a Clear fizzy amber color with a creamy off white head and good lacing. Smells of artificial peaches, nutty, bready. Taste is about as it smells, Huge peach flavor but not in a good way. It taste way too artificial and sweet. Light to medium oily body. One is definably enough to drink in one sitting. I don't believe I will drink this again to tell you the truth.

Appearance-opaque brown with a red tint
Smells like peaches and cream
Taste- peaches and cream and caramel with medium bitterness from hops.
Mouthfeel- medium/high water content
Drinkablility- easy to drink but could probably only drink 2 or 3 in a night because of the peach.

This beer is not sweet like I thought it was going to be, which was a pleasant surprise. I would probably spend 6 bucks on a 22oz rogue style bottle, but luckily it is that price for a 6 pack. Very good deal and very good beer. The flavor is very complex and the peach/cream/caramel comes first with the hop bitterness next. Both flavors then lighten up. Also, the beer is very carbonated. Best beer that I have had from Shiner. They did a great job brewing this beer.

Time for the holiday cheer! Instead of some spiked eggnog, I figured a holiday beer would be a nice try.

Appearance - Nice, solid mahogany appearance. Not everyday you get such a nice color in a beer.

Smell - Not the best smell ever, doesn't really seem to match the taste in my opion. More of a washy regular Shiner.

Taste - Peachy! If you like Lambrics but hate the price, this one will be a great sub. Aftertaste after a bit seems to be a bit much and overbearing, but sipped over time its a good one.

Mouthfell - Very similar to its parent beer - Shiner bock

Overall - a great specialty beer. I wouldn't have this every night, but definately in the winter.
