pours a beautiful amber color with a frothy off-white head. Smells very fruity, maybe strawberries or cherries. Initial taste is very smooth and crisp with a very light cherry taste finish. Very drinkable and enjoyable. The more I drink this, the more the natural Cherry flavor pops before the finish. Not much lacing to speak of. Overall, I was very pleasantly surprised with this brew and I just hope I can find more when I go back to the store.

Tis the season...
A: a brownish roasted chestnut. Little head dissipates to some faint lining with the tiniest trace of lacing. S: the nose is mainly of the tart peach. Some bready malt in there as well. T: much more peach on the palate here. It has a slight soft-drink quality to it. Sounds strange, I know. There is a weak spiciness on the back end. I don't really taste the pecans, unfortunately. F: the carbonation and fizziness is there initially but eventually dies down into a fairly smooth beer. O: a decent Christmas brew, there are better out there but this one is different and worth a try.

The beer pours out into a Duvel glass a rich reddish mahogany color with a 1&1/4" light tan head that slowly settles to a thin island over much of the liquid. Sipping creates some patches and streaks of lacing. The foam is mostly gone by the end of the beer.

The aromas include some peach and nuttiness from the pecan, all mixed in with the malt.

The flavors are much as expected from the nose with some peach, pecan, and sweetness from the malt. There's also a touch of mild bitterness from the hops

The mouthfeel is medium bodied and slightly crisp from the persistent moderate carbonation. The finish is medium in length and begins as the sweetness gives way to the hop bitterness and the peach and pecan nut character begin to fade away into the slowly developing dryness.

Overall I liked this beer and would enjoy having another. While I don't expect to spend time deliberately seeking this beer this year I'll certainly be looking at having more next year. Its also a bit unique in that its not what I'd expect from a Dunkelweizen (there's no banana and clove), but I'm definitely liking the peach and pecan flavors here and so am rating more on personal preference than adherence to style.

A: Dark red to brown, 1 inch off white head, not much lacing

S: Peaches are the main smell, a little bread

T: Sweet peach right up front that transitions to a malty, nutty pecan bread flavor, lingering sweetness on the end

M: Medium

O: A really nice seasonal beer with sweetness from the peach and nutty flavor from the pecans. Its like a fruit cake beer, "'Tis the season for cheer".

Not my favorite. Have had better Shiner beers. I'll give them unique on this one!
