When the weather outside matches the weather in your fridge, you know it's time to enjoy a nice Shiner Frost. This deliciously distinctive seasonal brings a hint of malty sweetness that quickly fades to show a crisp, hoppy character. It's chock-full of frosty goodness to pair perfectly with frosty days.

A- Big head on top of a golden amber colored body. Clarity is brilliant
S- Cracked, toasted barley with a hint of dank, cheesy yeast funk
T- The flavor is subtle and sweet with a refreshing lager twang that says hello and good night.
M- Watery with filmy carbonation
D- Another lager from Shiner that fails to really shine, but does provide a lasting impression

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Pours deep red orange with a fluffy white head. Smells of caramelized grain, inviting. Tastes of caramelized grain with nice hints of fruit. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall a good beer.

Poured from bottle into tulip, nice 1+ finger cream colored head, so so retention nice lacing. Dark amberish golden in the glass, hazy to look at. Bready malts on the nose, pretty much it. Nice malt sweetness on the front end, baked bread, slight tartness carries thru to the end where there is a nice firm bitterness. Some light notes of toffee, and lemon linger throughout which is welcome and prevents it from going flabby. Good strong carbonation scrubs the tongue at the end. There is a mild sweetness afterwards on the palate, but welcomed.

Shiner Frost has a thick, off-white head and an opaque, orange appearance, with noticeable tan, yeast chunks and lacing. The aroma is of bright cereal grains. The flavor is of glutinous cereal and some bitterness. Shiner Frost has a medium body and a mostly-dry finish.

I have to say that I was surprised at how good this Dortmunder Lager was. The color is a nice amber and it pours easily without an excessive amount of foam. Overall, the taste is very pleasant with just touch of malt and a bread flavor. I will give this another try at some point, well worth taking some extra sips!

Appearance: A slightly rough pour produced a massive, dense, and rather persistent snow-white head, atop a clear, deep golden body. the head retention is nothing les than superb. Moderate streams of fine-beaded bubbles race to the surface. Sticky patches of lacing adorn the glass walls..
Aroma: Prominent notes of rustic white bread, biscuits, and grassy and herbal hops define the aroma. With the moderate ABV of 5%, no alcohol is present in the aroma.
Taste: Opens with grassy hop notes and slight toasted malt and a suggestion of honey. Homemade white bread dough and lightly-toasted biscuits provide the backbone of the taste. The grassy hops spike to a little herbal bitterness, midway through the taste, particularly as it warms. There is really a substantial depth of flavor to be had, nonetheless, with all of the clean palate of a well-made lager. Finishes slightly dry with a lingering note of mildly bitter, faintly soapy herbal hops
Mouth feel: Smooth, soft, and very full, with just a hint of carbonation.
Drinkability/notes: An excellent rendition of this less-than-common style, quite well-done, as are most of Shiner's offerings.
Presentation: Packaged in a twelve-ounce brown glass longneck bottle, with a pry-off crown, served in a standard sixteen-ounce Pilsner glass at The Lake House.

Taste: crisp, earthy, mineral water, grainy. Earthy bread mineral nose. Golden color hue, mostly clear with tall white foamy head, slight lace. The style is earthy due to the water from the Dortmund area in Germany. 18 IBUs

My store had mixed six packs of Shiner on sale for $6.99. 2 beers each of three different types.
Not sure why a Dortmunder is holiday beer… 12 oz longneck poured into my SA perfect pint glass. The beer is a dark yellow with a bit of a chill haze. It has a nice ring of white lace.
The smell is of grains and something a little bit sour.
The taste leads with some light malt flavor, a bit of crackers and then a mild spice finish from the hops. There are no off notes and the beer is a pretty easy drinker. There is a touch of red apple on the finish.
The mouth is slightly thick with a bit of slickness.
It would be an easy beer to pair with fried shrimp or a burger. I would have no problem drinking several.

Bubbly clear dirty golden body, eggshell white surface islands and collar. Smells of cereal, grains, slight caramel, and especially macro yeast. Taste has good yeast, much better than it smells, but then it doesn't evolve from there, in fact it gets thin and watery. Too bad. Feel is sharp due to higher carbonation, watery, and bready.

I’ve read descriptions that have called this everything from amber to pale, I’m going to describe it ACCURATELY.
Look: Dark gold, almost amber. Clear. Medium carbonation with a medium white head that dissipates on the quick side.
Unfortunately the only bottles I could score were about six weeks past the best by date.
Smell: Slightly skunked, old fashioned beer that your Dad drank in the 70’s. There’s some malt and caramel that comes through. I can detect some floral hops as well. I imagine it smells quite nice when it’s not skunked.
Taste: The skunk is present but it’s not overpowering, it’s definitely more malt forward but not as in a bad way.
Feel: It’s semi dry but still on the heavy side, I can’t call it “crisp”. The abv is not present in the taste but it does sneak up on you. It feels stronger than 5%.
Overall, it’s really good. I hope I can find some that’s fresher.
