Notes: Just like the world's largest beer festival, our little brewrey has Bavarian roots and a long tradition of honoring tradition. Which is why we made this märzen-style with German-grown Hallertau tradition. If that doesn't make you polka dance for joy, we don't know what will.

All around not a good brew - I dislike the taste, the smell and the color on this beer. Shiner makes a great bock but this is a poor attempt at an oktoberfest brew. I won't buy this again.

12oz brown bottle with no freshness date.

LOOK: Dull orange color, clear though.

SMELL: Malt sweetness, fresh baked bread, faint herbal hop, dusty grain, clean.

TASTE: Semi-chewy, wet, mild sweetness, spicy hop, floral, bread crust, toasted grain, slightly dry, clean.

Extremely clean and very drinkable. Just as smooth as it is crisp. Well balanced from malt sweetness to toasted flavors to bittering hops. A happy brew to knock back.

I bought a six-pack of Shiner Oktoberfest in a grocery store. Poured in to a pint galss.

Pours a shiny copper color, clear with a resilient frothy off-white head.

Smell is faint but a sweet grain aroma.

Taste is a nice caramel flavor with mild bitterness.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and cloying.

Overall a nice seasonal Oktoberfest.

An appearance of clear gold with brunished hints when held to the sunlight. Moderate cap and lacing.

Aroma is first of malt, sweet malt, followed by a hint of spicy hops. Nice scent.

Taste is straightforward sweet malt, clean and relatively simple, but certainly malt. Hops interplay like a lightly spiced dish which is to say they're there but in the background. There's enough malt flavor to push it ahead of the usual AAL Amber brews without becoming sticky or heavy feeling. Finishes quick with a pleasant malt aftertaste.

Texture is medium.

Overall this is an easy drinking brew with much to recommend it to beer fanciers and general consumers alike. Wish Shiner would keep this in the lineup year round as a Helles, Dortmunder or such like label. I don't know if Shiner Oktoberfest is an all malt brew or it includes adjuncts but it certainly outshines some pricey all malt amber beers I've had from others.

Enjoyed from the 12 oz bottle in a snifter. This rather nice Oktoberfest pours a nice dark amber with a light head of white foam that settles to a thin ring, wafting layer, and light lacing. Nose of sweet caramel malts, biscuit, and yeast. Flavors follow the nose with caramel malts, biscuit and fresh bread, medium roasted malts, and a touch of herbal hops to the back. Sweet and moderately coating mouth feel with a lightly dry finish. Nice carbonation is not overwhelming and solid for the style. Overall pretty darn good.

Look: Burnt orange, with a thin white head. Quite attractive.

Smell: Caramel malt, hop/resin, rye bread.

Taste: Starts out sweet, as with many Oktoberfest beers. Caramel, resin/hop, and rye become the primary flavors.

Feel: More 'dry' feeling than many beers, with a decent full body from the malt.

Overall: Not the best Oktoberfest I've had, but definitely nowhere near the worst. I'd say it was a decent to pretty good beer, but probably not one I'd get again.

Poured bottle into chalice. Small head and fizzes away to nothing. Minimal lace. Lovely amber color.

Smell: malts, hint of spice. Typical of märzenbier.

Taste of bitter spice, smooth malts. Again, very much in the style. No surprises.

Thick, surprisingly heavy feel. Finish is predictably dry and hearty, not too rough.

Nothing remarkable about Shiner's take on an Oktoberfest/Märzen, but there's little to complain about either. Comparable to similar brews by Dinkelacker, Ayinger, and Hofbrau. Good beer for evening conversation or late solitude.

Arguably the best oktoberfest marzën beer I've ever had. Seems to rival Sam Adams octoberfest and seems to rival alot of the oktoberfest style beers out there.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. This beer has a very clear orange color with a large white head. The aroma is mostly malt with some spice added. The taste is very malty with some hop at the end. A real good Oktoberfest offering from Shiner.

Very nice sweetish malt aroma, slightly toasty, slight caramel. Clear amber with heavy carbonation. Tall off-white head disappears quickly with little or no lacing. Feel is a bit thin. Taste is faithful to the aroma, slightly sweet initially, caramel malts, with a bitter finish to off-set the malts. Enjoyable and easy drinking. I prefer the Märzen-style to the lighter Fest style, and this is a decent example... not the best example, but decent, perhaps a little overly bitter, a little thin, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy it as one of the selections for an O-fest party.

Poured from 12oz bottle.

A- Pours a golden amber clear color. One and a half finger white head that shows medium retention. Light web lacing on the sides of the glass.

S- Light caramel malts and some toasted grains. Plain and simple but the aroma is very faint and I had to almost bury my nose in the glass to find it.

T- Caramel malts in the front of the beer. A lot of metallic flavor in the middle kills off all other flavor. Light bitterness in the backing of the beer. As the beer warms the front has more of a toasted grain presence with the caramel malts.

M- Lighter mouthfeel. Carbonation is very high for the beer. Light caramel malts left on the palate. Some light alcohol and metallic flavor in the aftertaste. The flavors or lack their of make this beer light tasting. Alcohol not very drying on the palate.

D- The beer is light and pretty low on the flavor. The ABV is not very high so this beer is easy drinking. Not the best Oktoberfest style beer but also not the worse I've had. If this had a little more flavor this would be better.

Enjoyable. Good amount of malt but not overly malty/sweet. Whether it not it's a prototypical Octoberfest I can't say but the 6 pack I bought for a gathering disappeared quickly.

A - Pours a clear gold to light copper with a two finger head, dissipates to light cap and sticky lacing. Eventually dissipates to no cap or lacing.

S - Sweet malt and a light hoppiness and citrus aroma.

T - Very sweet toffee turning to a light breadiness, minimal hops.

M - Medium body and light carbonation, semi-dry.

O - Not a bad beer, but overall lacking in depth. Almost no hoppiness is also a letdown.

I am an Oktoberfest FREAK. I wait impatiently for Autumn and It is my mission to try every Oktoberfest I can find every year.

This one.. just isn’t for me. It doesn’t have any characteristics or taste that I’ve come to love from most Oktoberfest brews. This honestly tastes like a Sierra Nevada pale ale to me. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a drinkable beer. But it’s just not an Oktoberfest to me.

I probably won’t be buying this again.

Poured a light copper color, with a 2 finger white head, that left good lacing.
Smell is just a little bit toasty, bready, and light sweetness from the malt.

Taste is decent, it has an okay sweetness level, I prefer a bit more, has the toasty characteristic - but again, just a little. Maybe a slight nuttiness.

Mouthfeel is medium, but a little more carbonated then I prefer, but its not over the top or anything.

Drinkability, I give this a 2 mug rating, meaning I could drink 2 glasses before I got tired of it. Its a good, easy drinking beer, but it seems to be more of a Marzen Light...
