Enjoyable. Good amount of malt but not overly malty/sweet. Whether it not it's a prototypical Octoberfest I can't say but the 6 pack I bought for a gathering disappeared quickly.

Bought a single bottle from Wegmans Hylan Dr on 9/27/14. Poured into a dimpled mug at fridge temp.

appearance: medium amber with a thin off white head.

smell: lightly toasted grain, maybe some corn sweetness and modest but respectable hops.

taste: sweet caramel on top of toasted grain. Hops balance it nicely. Clean finish.

mouthfeel: decent

overall: Surprisingly tasty, super easy to drink. the best Shiner beer I have had. Nicely unpretensious, the sum is greater than its' parts.

A: clear; copper colored; 2 finger light khaki head that receded slowly to a thin cap; OK lacing;

S: sweet malt; toffee, bread;

T: toffee from start to finish; flavor seems a little watered down; mild bitterness on the finish;

M: light to medium bodied; light to moderate carbonation;

O: enjoyable, but not complex at all;

Bottle from Harvest Market.
Clear golden color decent white head. Rich sweet bready pilsner with a light metallic sharpness. Earthy hop bite not rich and malty enough for the style. I could drink these, but there are much better examples of the style out there.
