Notes / Commercial Description:
This crisp, bohemian-style lager was first brewed in Shiner way back in 1909. The early bottles of Premium proudly displayed a cotton ball on the label - a tribute to the hardworking Czech and German immigrants who farmed cotton around the region. After a long day in the fields these farmers often found a cold bottle of Shiner Premium waiting on a fence post, left there by our own Kosmos Spoetzl. It’s no wonder that Premium soon became known as the local favorite, and now it’s back. Reintroduce yourself to Shiner Premium - a beer that will take you back and treat you right. Prosit!

12 oz bottle served in a lager glass.
Aside from the aroma, this light lager didn't quite meet my low expectations. It has even less flavor than anticipated and less crisp and refreshing too.
Light body with medium-high carbonation.

12 oz. bottle poured into pilsener
(April 9, 2017 born-on date)

L: clear gold, much darker than the average AAL, pushes up 1-inch tall head of white/offwhite foam that doesn't stick; loads of activity in the glass keeps a collar of white foam and most of a skin; clarity and amount of activity are stunning and quite the show; no major lacing

S: creamed corn, grain, sour grain; as it warms, a little fruity sweet peach, bread malt, something slightly earthy underneath

T: sweet creamed corn with a hint of bread malt underneath; slight medicinal/alcohol taste that could also be an earthy hop flavor; sour grain; as it warms and the palate adjusts, the creamed corn subsides, the medicinality disappears and a cracker malt flavor takes over ... a step in the right direction

F: light and crisp, standard fare for the style ... excellent

O: the creamed corn note is off-putting and has that hint of spoiled butter/sugar; fortunately, that note also is relatively tame and not so dominant as to ruin an otherwise ok bit of grain/sour grain/cracker flavor; the medicinality is also not dominating and could easily be an earthy/black pepper hop not ... a little hard to say for sure; the best thing going for the brew is its ABV ... 4.4% is nice and low, allowing for a good-sized session; all in all not as good as I'd hoped and a one-off for me (I'd rather just stick to the Bock if I need a Shiner fix)

This one poured out a bit darker golden color with a finger and a half of white head that quickly dropped off. Lots of carbonation bubbles visibly streaming up through the beer.
The smell was just a great beer smell of barley and malts. Slightly grainy with a bread smell coming out.
This one tastes like beer. Like a good lager with no adjuncts thrown in. The carbonation spreads a good flavor of barley and malts across the tongue.
The mouth feel was not really light but definitely not medium, maybe borders somewhere in between. Finishes nicely leaving a lingering lager loveliness on the back end.
Overall this is a very good beer so simple it makes it very pleasant. Downsides may be a lot of lack of information as to ABV and bottled on or best by date on the bottle. And another downside is that this beer drinks fairly quickly and I am left without a Shiner Premium.

Pours a light straw yellow with a small head, good carbonation. Aroma is of any average beer. Taste is nice well blended with a bit of dryness at end. Mouthful is somewhat watery but still nice. Overall a nicely done middle of the road beer.

A classic tasting beer that feels really nice and finishes clean. A beer that is comparable to Budweiser but this is not as harsh. A beer that you can drink at a barbecue or fish fry.

Clear pale gold with one finger of 3 minute white head.
Smell is grain bin with a touch of floral hops.
Taste is bready malts with spicy herbal hops to balance.
Mouthfeel is light to medium with good carbonation. The finish is crisp and lightly dry.
Overall very similar to Euro Pale lagers. Well done folks.

This was probably my least favorite beer in the summer Shiner 6 pack. The flavor is just fine, but pretty devoid of flavor. It's refreshing, but not something I would drink again.

Clear light gold color with white cap and decent lacing.

Aroma of sweet malt and I get something almost nutty in the scent. Very faint hop presence.

Taste is gentle and somewhat fuller than I get from the average AAL. Nuttiness in the scent is increased in the flavor reaching something approaching fullness as the brew builds to the finish. Still no hop presence to speak of yet there's no trace of the usual AAL graininess either. A roundness in the finish caps things off nicely.

Medium texture.

Overall it's better than I remembered from my experiences in the past with this brew. A likable surprise. Oh it's not going to become my house brew or anything but I can certainly recommend it.

Looks, smells and tasted like a average beer, say coor light, miller light. got in a 12 pack mix. not the worse one in my option but at the bottom from shiner.

Appearance: Pale yellow, with a thin head of white suds. Limited lace.

Aroma: Corny malts here, typical adjunct lager spunkiness.

Taste: Thin an sweetly malty here, as any other basic American adjunct lager. Blah. Maybe tons better than a Bud Light, but as a “classic” brew, this one comes up lacking.

I keep my beer fridge on the very cold side and this beer is refreshing with a nice clean taste. Nice but not exceptional.
