A - Poured a deep golden wheat color without much of a head because it was a bit to cold.
S - Fruity, reminds me of banana and mango.
T - Reminds me of fruit juice with a sweet malty finish.
M - Medium body and a full feeling the 9% alcohol is well hidden.
O - Easy to drink and comes off as a solid fruit beer. I need to try paw paw fruit now.

This is a very unique beer that works. It is so easy drinking that I would call it a date rape drug.

It pours light orange with a fine head. The aroma is faintly fruity. The taste, on the other hand, is more fruity, and uniquely so. It has a sort of melon taste, more subtle than most fruit. There are hints of yeast in there. It is a smooth drinking beer - very refreshing yet complex.

The aftertaste eventually produces an alcohol burn - it is a delayed reaction. Overall, the booze is hidden so well that it is hard to believe this is as strong as it is, but you can feel it in your brain.

This is highly recommended, but the price is a bit out of this world. I lived in Athens from 1974-1978 and at that time the cost of one bottle of this would have left you staggering around uptown. I think I bought cases of beer for close to this. But it's sort of worth it.

This marks the end of my 1000th review at BeerAdvocate.com. I want to thank the bros for the great place to track my beer drinking hobby. I hope I can do a thousand more.

Additional review, 3.5 years later: It's boozier than that.

Serving Type - Bottle

Appearance - Light straw yellow with a 1/8 inch head. Slight sticky lacing.

Smell - Light tropical/floral fruits. A little wheat along with some yeasty sugars.

Taste - First sip is really strong, acidic with some alcohol backbone. Unique fruit flavor, im guessing its the paw paw. Semi sweet, a little acidic and smooth. Added yeasty sugars, some spices and maybe a little coriander/ orange peel. Wheat malt backbone along with some alcohol in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Paw paw fruit is upfront along with some spices on the tongue. Palate gets more tropical fruits, wheat and malts. Aftertaste is semi sweet fruity, wheat and some alcohol.

Overall - What a nice,, big, strong wheat beer. The paw paw is a interesting fruit, and id love to try again in another beer. Still smooth, easy to drink, especially for a 9% beer. Cant wait to try on tap.

I don't even know how to rate this beer... what is it?

It's stupid sweet and tastes of tropical fruits. Mango, pineapple and papaya dominate. It has a creamy mouthfeel full of sugary thickness. Carbonation is very low. Faint bitterness/staleness after the finish.

Solid fruit/vegetable beer I guess? I don't even know. At 9.2% though I won't buy again. That's a lot of beer space to use on this.

$6, 375ml/12+ oz. bottle pours very deep, cloudy golden color.

Earthy, slightly funky Bret like and grain smell. Not a ton going on here.

Taste like a good solid wheat should. Very malt based. The Paw Paw is defiantly on full display here. Tough to pin down. It is tropical/citrus in nature. I would describe as faint banana and some sort of melon or grapefruit. Has a crisp bite at the end. Reminds me of a Heffe in many ways.

Carbonation is just right - a little more than avg. The alcohol doesn't really reveal itself for as strong as it is. Finish is smooth, with a little bit of hop bitterness.

A very intriguing beer. Not a flavor bomb by any means, but enough distinct character to make it enjoyable. I would buy again, but the price/ABV kind of takes it out of the "session" category it probably belongs in. Nonetheless, Jackie keeps on rolling out good beers.
