Brand new brewery for me. Cleat golden body with a white, wet head. Nose is heavy with malt, rye, and booze.

Blasting hops run in one direction amd boozy malted rye flies off in the other. This is harsh and way more difficult to drink than the nine percent suggests. This brewery certainly has the power, now they have to demonstrate that they have the control too.

12oz can poured into a snifter
Canned 12/21/16

A- pours a pale golden straw color with a one finger foamy white head that has good retention and leaves some lacing behind

S- smells grainy up front, toasted malt. Light fruity hop notes, guava, mango, light hops overall

T- sweet, sugary & malty up front with bready notes, light tropical hop notes of mango and citrus, some pine. Sweet malty finish that lingers with a bit of booze

M- medium body and carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that turns into a creamy finish

O- previous versions of mandala that I've had have been delicious, but this was a malt bomb. I had to double check the canning date to make sure that it was only 6 weeks old

Cloaked in secrecy, the series that showcases single hop varieties usually boasts the featured cones, but the Mandala Imperial IPA keeps its soul's identity close to its chest. Regardless, the flavors are bright, bold and dangerously smooth.

The boisterous IPA decants with a hazy golden sheen. Its foam is tall, long and creamy with trickling lace. Stone fruit, spice and light caramel leads the perfumy fragrance with a flowery, citrusy bouquet. And those caramel, honey and fructose flavors gloss over the tongue with a hint of toasted angel-food cake and cashew.

As the malt sweetness gradually relaxes, its undertow of sweetness never vanishes, but continues to support the hop favor and bitterness but does so in the recesses of flavor. However it's the hops that carry the load, leading off with bright orange, pink grapefruit, dried pineapple and apricot, and a spicy taste of juniper and greggio white wine. Growing bitterness is acutely of citrus peel and soft pine resins.

Medium-bodied but hedging toward fullness, the beer's complex and powerful flavors make the mind want to read a heavier texture, but the thinning of alcohol, drying resins of hops, spring of carbonation and trailing malts suggest something lighter and dangerously drinkable. Yet the aftertaste is bitterly balanced with citrus peel and grassy sappiness as the hops finally outlasts all other flavors in a long fruity afterglow.

Poured a nice light orange, very hazy, thick appearance with long lasting white head and strong lacing. Citrus hop in the aroma, nice but not strong, seems like pineapple and a bit flowery. Nice mix for the single hop. Citrus and bread in the flavor, very nice but does not jump out at you like the top IPAs. Really smooth mouth feel, creamy with only minimal bitter, very balanced. Overall this was a very nice IPA, no idea who Jackie O's is, wife brought this back as mixed set from Ohio, but they did a good job.
