Mahogany with brown and red edges and a thin, tan creamy ring.

Smell is medium roast coffee, nuts, brandy and caramel with boozy heat stinging the nostrils. There's something unusual in the background, like an aerated cocoa, cherry skin or some other kind of must.

Taste is caramel macchiato with brandy. Toasted and candied nuts. This packs a punch! That odd note in the background of the aroma makes its presence here as well, and it's almost like an exotic spice I can't quite put finger on--not quite nutmeg. Maybe pine needle or birch. ... OH IT’S THE BUCKWHEAT! Now that I've had that little tidbit revealed to me, it's really clicking and reminding me of the buckwheat pancakes I used to make. Which goes just perfectly with the little bit of maple that is leftover long in the aftertaste of BB Hibernator.

Slick and almost watery, if not for the heat, with a semi-dry, tingly finish.

This sucker is potent like a Barleywine.

Pours a deep brown with a thin head that quickly dissapears. Smells of Rye bread, heavy bourbon, vanilla, caramel, strong toasted oak. Taste up front gives a strong Rye bread flavor, followed by lots of oak barrel that imparts caramel, vanilla and toasted notes. The finish gives more woody notes,along with toasted nuts and brown bread. Medium-heavy body, moderate carbonation leads to a creamy mouthfeel and slightly warming finish. Extended barrel aging has produced tons of barrel notes, making this quite complex for a browm ale
