Wood Ya Honey - Vanilla Bean & Orange PeelWood Ya Honey - Vanilla Bean & Orange Peel
Notes: Wheat wine style ale brewed with generous amounts of local wild flower honey. Aged in bourbon barrels for 10 months elevated the rich caramel and honey character. This batch was conditioned on vanilla beans and orange peel after barrel aging. Rich notes of toasted marshmallow, bright orange zest, dripping honey comb, marzipan, and raisin come together for a decadent experience

Received in a trade and shared with JLindros.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a slightly hazy chestnut hue with a thin head that fades to leave a light halo and great legs.

S - Big aromas of honey and lighter vanilla beans, the orange is more orange liquor. Big caramelized honey notes and flashes of cardboard.

T - Taste is similar to the nose with loads of vanilla taffy and nougat. Very rich with excellent barrel notes. Big sweeter caramelized honey, orange blossoms, tons of nutty walnuts. Finish is lingering caramel sauce.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, almost flat, but the alcohol is hidden nicely.

O - Overall this was a solid enough wheatwine. Nice barrel notes but the oranges could be better.

Light fizzy head fades instantly, touch of lacing, long legs, darker iced tea brown color with a touch of light coming through

Nose heavy sweet malts, tons of caramel, candied dark fruits and caramelized honey, sweetened fig, date, raisin, with light orange zest liquor cointreau like, vanilla ice cream, light bourbon almost rum like with little vanilla oak too

Taste very sweet, more caramelized honey and loads of caramel, brochet like, with now cointreau like orange liquor, plenty of vanilla, raw and candy like, light bourbon and oak but very light and some rum like with the candied dark fruits, plenty of nutty flavored like raw walnuts, more fig date raisin characters, little bitterness, some hot alcohol, chewy nougat, mild dry sticky finish, lingering caramel toffee and nuts

Mouth is richer thick bod, some warming alcohol, lower but ok carb

Overall pretty nice, not incredible but enjoyable
