Pours a small fizzy creamy brown head cover with fair retention at least, a bit of lacing, long legs, jet black color

Nose intense stout, big roasted dark malts, dark chocolate cocoa, coffee, mocha, fudgey caramel nougat candy bar, nutty, vanilla oak and vanilla spice, ice cream, flash of whiskey, lots of fudge brownie, a bit of caramelized honey and sugar, a little fruit almost cherry like

Taste more intense dark malts, dark chocolate, cocoa, super fudgey, a bit of roast and coffee, thick chocolate candy bar with some caramel and nougat, more fruity notes as well with a bit of chocolate covered cherry, nutty, a hint of oxidation waxy aged character, a bit of oak with vanilla and mild whiskey, vanilla ice cream and spice, some caramel and creme brulee sweetness, even touch of salted caramel, a flash of smooth alcohol late, lingering aged chocolate and everything else just homogenized together

Mouth is full bod, rich creamy chewy, light warming alcohol, med to lighter carb

Overall a great beer, wish there was more barrel character, but otherwise quite enjoyable

12.7 oz bottle vintage 2022 poured into a Duvel glass at just above fridge temp 11.4% ABV. The beer pours opaque dark brown with light brown head. The head recedes to an uneven ring and a few bubbles. Micro dots of lacing are left behind trailing the liquid level. The aroma is moderate in strength with dark chocolate, bourbon, oak, and sweet notes of caramel. The taste is semisweet caramel, fudge brownie, bourbon, oak and honey. Finish is mildly bitter with the barrel doing the most to offset the sweetness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with just less that average carbonation and a semi dry finish. Alcohol is fairly well disguised, as I would never guess 11.4% Overall, excellent. Slightly sweet, but wonderfully balanced.

It shouldn't surprise me that Jackie O's pulled this off so well, have a really large portfolio of stouts and barleywines to work with. Most breweries that try these blends don't, they're just throwing what they have together. Working with the massive toffee and bourbon base are milder notes of molasses and honey. There are also hints of chocolate and light nuttiness. This is just amazing.

Picked up a 12.7 oz bottle from the Blue Door Bottle Shop in Hendersonville 9-1-22 for $17.50. 2022 bottle consumed 1-3-23.

Beer poured black with a nice tan head with the original pour.

Nose is very nice with notes of leather, vanilla, and a touch of bourbon. If i closed my eyes i would say this was a Firestone Walker BA brew!

Taste is very nice as the blend lends a nice tame malt base not heavily roasted in which the barrels impart notes of bourbon, vanilla, and fig. Finishes nicely balanced from the barrel with no hint of overt sweetness.

Mouthfeel is medium to heavy bodied and very smooth.

Overall another excellent BA brew from Jackie O's!

Fine blend of wine and imperial stout. Jackie O is a good innovator. I enjoy all imperial stouts. With the ABV of 11.4%, this blend will pack a punch.

Cellar Cuvee 1 (2020) from Jackie O’s. Received from brewery 02/02/22. $ 15.82 (Including tax and shipping)/12.7 oz bottle ($1.246/oz). Stored at 37 degrees at home. Reviewed 06/07/22. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
“2020” on label, otherwise undated bottle. Served at 55.9 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King Snifter. Final temperature 61.1 degrees.
Appearance – 3.5
First pour – Amber Brown (SRM 18), muddy.
Body – Brown (SRM 30), with an olive cast, opaque. When rear-lite, opaque with light penetration at the edges – medium amber. Much precipitate rests on the inside curvature of the glass
Head – Small (Maximum 1.0 cm, aggressive center pour), copper, high-density and fizzy, no retention, quickly diminishing to a < 0.1 cm partial ring of tiny bubbles, and no cap.
Lacing – None.
Aroma – 3.75 – Weak bourbon. No hops, no yeast, no detectable tree nuts.
Flavor – 3.75 – Begins with lightly sweet mild bourbon and brown sugar. No ethanol (12.8 % ABV as marked on label) aroma or taste. Mild gastric warming. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 4 – Full, creamy, weak carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 4.25 The whole is greater than the sum of the parts. While the appearance, nose, and flavor are somewhat better than mediocre, the synergy produces an excellent sipping strong ale/wheat wine – even the honey is a positive contributor!

Pours a very dark brown, approaching black, with a tawny hue. Half finger of airy, dark mocha head dissipates quickly leaving a messy crown and very little lacing.

Dark chocolate cocoa powder and creamy caramel in the nose. Some vanilla behind.

The caramel hits first again in the taste, followed by a drier, sort of leathery middle. Maybe a hint of plum. Then some char, earthy hops and dark chocolate for a semi-bitter finish. A kiss of walnut in the aftertaste.

Medium bodied with medium carbonation.

Very enjoyable. The balance of sweetness and bitterness is quite well done here.

12 oz bottle, poured into a goblet at ~40 degrees F.

L: Pours your standard stout inky black, and forms absolutely no head or even fizz of any kind, aside from a very thin ring of tiny white bubbles around the edge of the glass.

S: Rather barrely indeed, to be expected from a blend of BA Dark App and Wood Ya Honey. Caramel and oak abound, with vanilla in support. Not much else to the aroma, at least when still cold. As it warms, notes of molasses and brown sugar emerge.

T: Very interesting. In contrast to the nose, the barrel notes are present, but not the centerpiece. A slurry of brown sugar and honey hits first, atop waves of oaky tannins and caramel-vanilla booze. Behind and beneath that comes a succession of dark stone fruits, faint ash, and charred bread. Some thin ghosts of chocolate and black licorice manifest here and there. By the swallow, the barrel ABV heat arrives, and lingers in the aftertaste.

F: Full and syrupy, yet quite still.

O: Huge, flavorful, and perhaps more an "in your face" beer than I'm particularly into these days - but quite enjoyable nonetheless.
