Poured from a growler into a Teku glass
A: Deep orange with a one-finger head
S: A nice blend of all things hops- citrus, pine, tropical fruit with none standing out over another
T: Matches the nose- a balanced blend of all things IPA without any one note standing out
M: Full-bodied but dangerously balanced- not a hint of alcohol
O: A really well-made, balanced, tasty DIPA

Bright golden color. Orange on the nose. Nicely balanced fruit and malt with a nice long finish. Yum!

Where was Jackie O's when I went to OU? (answer - not goin g to exist for a few decades). I would not have been able to afford this stuff anyway, it would have cut too heavily into the partying budget.

This beauty is just that, beautiful. It's very yellow for such a huge IPA and has just the right head. Very pretty in the glass. The aroma is surprisingly subdued, but dank in a little way. A refined dank. Similarly, the taste is very refined. Not overly bitter or overly sweet. Goldilocks. Consequently, it goes down like a lite beer (almost). You know there is a lot of alcohol, but it feels easy drinking. I guess I'll drink the half growler this afternoon. Maybe a nap will ensue.

Highly recommended as a smooth, huge IPA. Matriarch indeed.

32oz growler filled at Heinen's in Mentor, Ohio

Growler poured into a tulip. Pours golden with nice clarity and transparency; white head that fades leaving great retention and nice lacing. The aromas have some citrus notes along with a touch of alcohol. Some malts in the mix. Overall the aromas seem subtle for such a big beer. The flavors are very bold. Lots of citrus. Lots of fresh pine needles and pine resin. Grapefruit is there. Solid malt backbone, but the hop bitterness still shines. Very sticky and resinous. Bittersweet, but not too sweet. Some soap. Some alcohol notes, but it's not boozy. Finishes warm and slightly spicy. Mouthfeel is nice. It's full-bodied with active carbonation, but it's not thick. It's "thin" and slick. This makes for a nice sipper.

I suppose this isn't my favorite hoppy brew from Jackie O's, who I think make great hoppy beers. It's not really my favorite "Triple IPA" that I've ever had either. This is just a "no holds barred" type of brew. It's not bad at all though.
