375 ml bottle that was solo domed. The pour was jet black but a thin head that disappeared almost immediately. The smell was rich of toffee, bourbon, vanilla, cocoa, dark fruit, subtle coconut. The taste mirrored the smell but just a little more char mid palate. Feel was thick and full coating the mouth, it even stayed that way when it warmed up. Overall a very good BA stout that I would definitely purchase again.

Looks and pours like a classic stout. Virtually no head, slick black.

Aroma has notes of molasses, brown sugar, and definitely some bourbon in there.

Taste is absolutely wonderful. Woody bourbon notes, light molasses and brown sugar, some mild chocolate and maltiness. Feels nice and slick, not a lot of carbonation, quite drinkable.

375 mL bottle. Black body. Strong bourbon aroma. Vanilla. Some roasted malt and a little chocolate. Tastes of strong bourbon as well. Oak, vanilla. Chocolate malt and a roasty back end. Aggressive bitterness and even more aggressive bourbon in the finish. Wasn't sure what I thought of this at first, as the bourbon is really aggressive, but the base beer is clearly top notch.

The beer isn't much of a show stopper at first glance. But it has a nice barrel smell and big flavor. Very good balance and silky feel. The brown sugar is a nice touch. Great beer.

This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a dark brown color with a quickly dissipating slim fingered head that didn’t leave any lacing. The smell started off a major sweet bourbon boozy dry woody aroma over top of sweet brown sugar and a light vanilla. The flavor copies the aroma nicely, taking on the dryness to come across in the aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a good sipping quality about it. Carbonation sits fairly low key. Still, the dryness hits at the mouthfeel. Overall, I liked the other Dark Apparition with the vanilla and coffee way more. This was good, but there’s almost that cloyingly sweetness trying to make a slight presence in the feel.

Deep dark black appearance with almost no head.

The aroma of bourbon is strong but not overpowering.

A delicious, malty stout base with a strong bourbon flavor on the back end.

Bottle:
Beer pours with not the thickness but the color of used oil. Trying to generate a decent head failed, but there was a thin head that appeared. It seemed to change from brown to light tan quickly as it faded to the edges.

Nose is chocolate brownie, sweet, chocolatey, vanilla and brown sugar evident. The brown sugar evokes a hint of molasses, but also seems to stay distinct as my nose relaxes. There's something else lightening the chocolate note, but I can't make it out.

Feel is lighter than the nose suggested, more in line with the lower viscous pour. The fullness of the flavor is high, though.

And the flavor that comes is in line with the nose. My initial impression, that was tempered as I drank more, was that of a really good, fresh licorice. The spice bite was a little light for that, perhaps. A little more cola that brownie up front, but lingering notes are brownie-ish. The brown sugar helps.

This beer reminds me a slight bit of Alewerks Rapadou Porter, which uses a sugar adjunct decently well. This is better, with the barrel aging really not distinct/very well integrated. Well enjoyed as a closing beer for the night.
