L: Hazy straw. Not clear enough to look filtered and not hazy enough to look unfiltered.

S: Lots of malt and bitterness. Tad soapy. Not digging it.

T: Certainly bitter. Not a helluva lot going on otherwise. First sensation is just carbonation and next is bitterness.

F: Tad watery.

O: I couldn't find a single distinguishing characteristic. It's too plain to really enjoy and too high ABV to session.

Clear bright, light yellow-gold, with a large bright white foam head and a clinging layer cake of lace.

Smell is lemon drop, eucalyptus, and a little bread.

Slightly bitter bite of light pine up front in taste, with some orange rind, slight dankness, and Spree.

Light and tangy yet fluffy.

Pours deep golden to copper in color. It is aggressively hopped and this resonates in both it's smell and flavor. Pungent, stingy, resiny, bitter, piney hops deliver a tongue lashing of hop flavor that sets this beer apart from many other IPAs you stack it up against. More of a west coast IPA with pizzazz in terms of style. An excellent offering from Jackie O's. This is one of my go-to beers.

Pours a pale amber leaning towards straw yellow with a white head.

Smells of citrus, tropical fruit, and resinous pine.

Taste is tropical fruit - mango and star fruit - followed by citrus - orange and grapefruit. There is a slight hit of malt then a heavy resinous pine flavor. A solid IPA.

Can from Bayshore Beverage Sandusky.
Mostly clear deep yellow with a good sized bubbly white head that persists. Tangerine apricot pine and grapefruit rule the nose with a sweet bready malt deep underneath. The flavor is more pine and grapefruit than anything else. Bitter resinous drips off your tongue long after each sip. Bold tasty bitter IPA.

There is a very promising nose with hints of pineapple that the taste never delivers. However, it is a crisp, clean, gently bitter beer that has a pleasant mouth feel. If the deliver some of the nose on the taste they will have a winner.

Consumed on June 27th, 2016 in a fancy-schmancy Teku glass. Poured from a can dated 4-28-16.

Pour is a pale golden yellow that looks darker and more cloudy once it settles. Spotty lace.

Smell is rough and raw; pine and asphalt with grace notes of lemon and grass.

Flavor is unsatisfactorily thin with all the brash, unrefined hop notes from the nose with nothing to balance them out. Massive bitterness.

Mouthfeel is medium-bodied and a bit prickly but lacking in heft for such a bitter brew.

Overall, the lack of balance in this beer turned me off. Not a drain pour, but I don't think I'll be drinking this beer again.

12 oz can. Light golden color with slight haze, two finger white head with good retention, soapy lace. Piney oniony hop aroma. Taste I'd definitely hop forward, combo of dank weed and earth onion, grapefruit peel, touch of melon and sweetness. Medium semi soft mouthfeel. Overall good IPA, would drink again.

Poured from can into pint glass; nice golden color with one finger head. Hints on fruit and pine take the air. Initial taste is well balanced without a lot of "bite" from the hops. Settles very nice on the palate. Very enjoyable beer.

Pour is a golden hue, very clarified and clear. Not much haze going on. 1 finger white head and pretty mediocre lacing and stickiness.

Smell is interesting. Getting some onions initially, and pine in the back end. Not much fruitiness or tropical juices going on at all with the nose. Maybe some lemon grass and citrus.

Taste is pretty citra foward. Luckily not too much of the onion/garlic carried on with the taste. Besides the citrus of lemon and orange peel, getting some bitter grapefruit aspects as well.

Mouthfeel is very thin. Moderate to almost heavy carbonation. Very crisp and clean.

Got this while traveling, and had heard it was a good IPA. Drank from can, and the color and smell were very good for a can. The taste initially hit me as bitter, but then it seemed much less so as I drank. The body is good for an IPA, and this beer was very satisfying overall. I would recommend it.

White head with a little lace. Color is a golden orange.

A bit of onion. The rest is fairly tropical. Gets better as it warms. Some grapefruit and papaya show. Bready malts.

Nothing crazy hoppy or crazy fruity, but decent.

A - Pours a hazy golden yellow with a three finger foamy white head. Heavy sticky lacing.

S - Aroma is grapefruit peel, tangerine, and piney hops.

T - The taste starts with tangerine, grapefruit peel, and sweet bready malts. The sweetness fades with resinous hops giving a bitter finish.

M - Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Crisp mouthfeel with a dry finish.

O - A nice IPA with a nice mix of piney hops and tropical fruits. Definetly worth checking out.

Can was an extra from a recent trade. Can appears to be dated in late December so this puppy is about 2 months old, bear that in mind. It was decent, considering the age would like to try it a but fresher...all in all a nice ipa, nothing to hunt down at 2 months old.

A - Hazy golden orange color, white head, fades slowly to a full and lacing cap.

S - Lots of citrus, a definite pine aspect, and a bit of dankness to round out. Lovely.

T - Punchy pith, with grapefruit flesh underlying it, a mildly sweet middle hinting honey and malts, and a very bitter close, dancing close to overload, with mint highlights.

M - Spiky in the open, moderate carbonation, and slight numbing dryness in the close.

O - The nose and look are top. The taste lives up to the claim of copious hops. A burly mama, for sure, with lots of gusto.

Can into a New Belgium snifter. Transpartent, light gold in color with about 1.5 fingers of sticky, white foam on top. Strong hops and dank pine resin on the nose with backing notes of sweet flowers and citrus. The taste follows suit quite well, as this one is filled with..."copious amounts of pungent hops". Yeah, sums it up pretty well. Pretty dank and resinous up front, but hits a couple sweet notes on the back end. Light weight, fairly creamy. Easy to drink. Yeah. Overall, this is a really good IPA. A little underrated at 88, in my opinion. For what it's worth, I think it tastes better straight from the can.

Really nice IPA and worth a try. Great varied hop profile here. Juicy, dank, bitter and piney. My only complaint is that the balance is slightly off. The bitterness takes too much away from the other flavors in the finish, and this is a guy who loves IBU's. Overall a solid beer but not as solid as their stouts.

Look - honey colored but a little dull. The smell is like wet leaves with some herbs - actually quite pleasant. Taste has hops, not too bitter and with hints of grapefruit perhaps. The negative is the feel in the mouth - it is thin somehow - really needs something like cheese, sausage or a piece of salami to pair with it. Then you get a complete feel. With food that has fat, it works for me. Even a veggie burger would work. (I cannot bring myself to try it with a salad. I know for me it would just not work.)
This is a really decent beer when paired appropriately, but as a stand alone beer somehow it doesn't quite make it. I will definitely buy again (for cookouts, meals etc.)

Can dated 8/27:
Pours a nice, mostly clear light golden color. Head is white, grows nicely, and settles in good time to a medium ring with spotty surface coverage. Lacing is minimal.

Nose is a weird combination of vegetal and floral, a bit of onion is the main single note that escapes that combination. This would tend to foreshadow a lower score from me, but isn't too strong to get lower my expectations. Deeper whiffs do bring some grapefruit pith, and warmth strengthens this to almost removing the onion.

Feel is tending to dry, with light tickling carbonation. This feeds into flavors that match the nose pretty well. Clean malt lead the hops to the fore, again - herbal to vegetal, some onion early. The graprefruit pith I got in the nose struggles to come out, but never quite makes it, in my mind. Finish leaves a light coating on my tongue with this pour, lingering hop bitterness is nice.

I tried to find something to really praise in this beer, and there wasn't anything I could come up with. I tried to find what was wrong with this beer, and could come up with nothing but those things which were tied more to my own preferences. Overall, just a tad towards the onion side, and nothing exceptional makes this a nice, drinkable, wouldn't turn down and would even order again on occasion beer.

Great look and smell. Taste is good with juicy hops but then an unpleasant bitterness comes in. But I would mind drinking this daily but I still prefer hanger 24 Betty IPA a lot more

Mystic Mama is very....very good and well worth the try. The beer pours a slightly hazy golden with white head that laced all the way down the glass....LUV IT!!! The scent is a wee heavy on the pine with hints of citrus. The taste is well balanced through the drink but finishes bitter...but leave the pallet easy. The mouthfeel is medium in body with good carbonation. Overall it is awesome.

A thanks to the captain of the canship, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of hops, pine, resin. Taste is the same as the smell, also some hints of grapefruit, dry at the finish. Feels medium/full in the mouth and overall is a solid beer.

A deep golden orange pour with a thick head that dissipates quickly into nice lacing. Smells of citrus and strong hops. Taste has a grapefruity bitterness. It drinks very smooth. Definitely an enjoyable beer.
