Notes:
After a layover of 17 months in Bourbon barrels, prepare for descent into rich maltiness and flavors of faraway lands. Careful additions of toasted sesame seeds and Szechuan peppercorns bring floral and nutty tones to this decadent Stout.

Bottled on: ???????
A - Dark raisin colored pour with thin toffee colored lacing.
S - Big sticky aroma with dark fruit, raisins, leather, Bourbon, brown sugar, and a slight hint of molasses.
T - Follows the nose (for the most part) with toasted brown sugar, Bourbon, oak, figs, raisins, dark fruit, leather, oak char, and a slightly salty floral presence that finishes on the sweeter side with lingering molasses, Bourbon, and toasted toffee.
M - Thick with a slight bit of frothy texture and warming in the back of the throat leaving a wet tongue and a semi-dry mouth.
O - Not stellar but rock solid and that totally works for me.

Very good strong stout. Don't know if it was worth the $14. I paid for it, but i did enjoy it!! I sipped this one on a crisp afternoon in front of my outdoor fire pit. Poured into a pint glass from a 12.7 oz bottle, this beer featured a dense black body with no light coming through, There was a small dark brown bubbly white head that faded quickly. No lacing to speak of. That is fire for a beer that weighed in at 14,8% .abv!!! Aroma was surprisingly weak for a strong Bourbon Barrel Aged beer. Taste was pretty basic, but good. An equal balance between the bourbon barrel flavoring and rich, slightly sweet toasted and bready malt. The sesame seeds probably enhanced the toasted malt flavor. Mouthfeel was rich, somewhat sweet with some underlying alcohol presence. This is a rich, slow sipper, but the alcohol is not of the burning, intrusive type, mostly warming with very little harshness. Well done and quite enjoyable

L: Pours a dark, syrup brown that forms a thin espresso head, which dissipates quickly to reveal a hint of cloudy retention. Zero lacing. When held to the light, it is dark umber, with a viscous look.
S: Bourbon barrels, chocolate, roasted malt, brown sugar. Hints of pepper and Himalayan salt that lend some kick.
T: Decadent, lacing. Bourbon barrel, roasted malts, caramel chocolate. Molasses, char, oak, and some pepper towards the finish.
F: Medium-to-full bodied. Coating.
O: This is a very strong bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout. Good balance of flavors. Aromas were pungent. Worth the price tag.

12.7 ounce bottle, 2021 vintage. Served in a Dark Apparition chalice, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a half inch tan head that fizzled away kinda quickly. There's a small amount of lacing. I like the aroma, the brew smells like bourbon, vanilla, peppercorns, salt, roasted malt and dark chocolate. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some burnt/charred malt, oak, molasses and some sesame in the finish. Mouthfeel/body is coating and a little syrupy with a low/moderate amount of carbonation. Easy enough to drink, doesn't seem like it's 14.8% ABV. I thought this was a pretty good overall brew, certainly worth trying if you get the chance to!

Return to Jackie O’s with Return Flight; a bourbon barrel stout with the addition of sesame seeds and peppercorns. These ingredients don’t see much play in the beer world so I was excited to try them from one of favorite breweries. This stout has much more body than most of the Jackie O’s aged stouts and I appreciate that. It is sweet, savory, and umami. You get a nice hit of roasty, toasty from the sesame seeds that balance out the overall sweetness. I like savory creations and this one really hit the spot.

From the bottle in a snifter via Jungle Jim's Eastgate. This stunner pours
a dark coal black with a faint head of khaki foam that sizzles to a thin ring, but
with light motion she's got legs! Nose of bourbon, salinity from the sea salt, dark
roasted malts, subtle pepper notes, and light oak. Flavors...wow. Sea salt mingles
with char, cocoa, bourbon, oak, vanilla, and light white pepper touches (Sichuan
pepper from the ingredients) that are wonderfully balanced and smooth.
Excellent mouth feel; smooth, coating, slick, full body, light to faint carbonation,
and finishing warming and lightly dry.
Overall---again....Jackie O's...equal the sum of the parts....WOW!
Cheers
